I would find it curious that anyone would want to be called "Lord," period, unless they were desigated a lord by the king of Britain.
But, why take offense at the fact that someone wants to name themselves something you consider ridiculous when people do all manner of ridiculous things? Maybe they have a giant ego and this feeds it. You could always ignore their name change and refer to them by their "dead" name, so to speak.
Hope this isn't a close friend that you have to refer to with this new moniker. If it isn't, breathe a sigh of relief. And if it does offend you, you don't have to continue hanging out with them, do you? Good luck.
Lmao “Lord” isn’t even the christian god’s name. They use titles like “Lord” and “God” to get around their real name that they NEVER say because that runs the risk of taking “The Lord’s name in vain” (by the way it’s Jehovah. The christian god’s name is Jehovah. I’m not taking it in vain by naming him). So someone naming themselves Lord is about the same as someone naming themselves Prince or Queen or Duke.
Lord is a bad example , obviously fine. Lord can be a title. The doubt is about mexican catholics calling their kids jesus hesus. Clearly it is not offensive to catholics but for me that is awkward.
I can imagine kids in school, during roll call (that is when the teacher calls the names and gives out rolls).
Teacher: jeckyl jabbar
jeckyl: here
Teacher: jehova jameson
Class laughs.
No, because "lord" isn't a strictly religious name or title.

Nah, I'm changing mine to 'the messiah'. It'll be great fun in waiting rooms

And wasn't there a Lord who starred on the old Hawaii Five-0?
