Do you agree with my thoughts about the post exodus travels?

I read the Israelites spent 40 years on a journey that should have only taken 3 days.

If this is true, it means to me, that God’s first priority was not to bring them into the promised land, but instead to clean their character so they would go to Heaven after they die, and so their future children would go to Heaven after they die.

The promised land was just the pot of gold God used to drive the character transitions he wanted them to go through so they could become righteous. The promised land was never God’s top priority for their lives.

Today, millions of Bible readers have learned the Torah because those Jews wasted 40 years of their lives in the wilderness and Moses recorded the things they learned on their journey.
