Does God give us temporary gifts or abilities only when we truly need them?

When I wanted to be a psychologist as an 18 year old university student, I had to memorize 200 pages a week in my 4 classes combined together, but as an 18 year old, I could easily memorize 300 pages a day so that was manageable.

Once I changed majors to religion where I only needed to memorize 20 pages a day, I could only memorize 30 pages a day.

When I was in university, my creativity was in the top 0.2% because that is what I needed to meet my grade point goals for grad school. Once I finished university, my creativity reset to the top 5%.

It seemed there was more than one time in my life, where God temporarily gave me exceptional behavioural, or intellectual traits, because I needed those traits to achieve goals.
