Is my interpretation of Jesus on honoring abusive family members correct?

I believe when Jesus talks about his conflict of how to honour your parents with the Pharisees, Jesus was trying to suggest, that when your family is abusive or clearly undeserving of your respect and kindness, you should view kindness towards them as an act of charity, and not as an act of dutiful compensation for the previous service and care they offered you.

This belief you are doing God worshipping charity and not doing tit for tat personal compensation for acts they did for you, can motivate you to be nice to a family member that disrespects you or hurts you and is clearly not by karmic value, deserving of any good deed or deed of care or love from you.

If you were to write a book, somebody would have to create the book binding and the book jacket, and somebody else would have to fill the book with writing and words. God is your book binding and your book jacket, and you are the words inside the book as well as the teachings of the bible.
