The gods are both mysterious and fickle. They are also not prolific writers, contrary to popular myth. Historically, the trial and error method has been applied for determining what the gods favor and what they don’t. This is why most peoples had very hard rules about such things. It was so frustrating and terrifying to discover what exactly pleased the gods that they just never attempted other options afterward. It might be foolish to sacrifice the cabbage, but we won’t know until they try. Personally, i hope they try and the gods are displeased. I haven’t seen a good smiting in a long time.

Cabbages have feelings too. If they change the celebration, the Group Against Vegetable Execution (GAVE) will complain and want it changed to an apple...

I haven't heard of a cabbage being a sacrifice for the Gods. In Ancient Rome they would sacrifice the bulb of an onion, locks of hair, and a fish to stop thunderbolts. In other regions of the world they have often wanted animals slaughtered. Burning incense was also a big thing. In East Asia, they make all kinds of offerings these days like fruit and soft drinks, but I have never heard of cabbage, even there.

The festival is about a fish, keep it that way.

What nonsense is this. Everyone knows a virgin clam must be sacrificed to appease the gods.
I dunno, I mean... the first guy who tried that also turned out to be the world's first murderer too...
Burn a Liz Truss pinata instead. She couldn't outlast s cabbage anyway. Or was that an iceberg lettuce?
Well, if their gods are vegetarians, why not? :P
