Religion is as old as human history itself.
Or at least when we left the caves and nomadic tribes.


We use it as a tool to govern society, protect ourselves from one another basically.


There has been countless religions over the ages but they all have commonalities:
Mainly asking followers to treat one another like brothers and do no harm to a fellow worshiper.


Without a religious foundation even our secular laws would be built on a different principle.
The value of human life could just as easily mean nothing at all.


I’m not a huge believer in the detailed practices of my religion but I do believe its existence is a necessary certitude in an uncertain world.

I view organized religion as a control device, and attending church as a social club for making business contacts. The control part only works if the person believes in the consequences. For my part I don't need a sky daddy to tell me right and wrong. My conscience is enough.
