"“The DeSantis legislature kicked everyone off of vote by mail at the end of the year so beginning January 1st it’s up to us to go and re-enroll and vote by mail,” said Viri Ryan, a registered voter in Lee County.

It’s so serious that Lee County Election Supervisor Tommy Doyle is sounding the alarm.

“Right now it seems pretty serious. It’s unprecedented because this is the first time everyone’s request for vote by mail has expired,” Doyle stated.

What if more voters don’t sign up to vote by mail? Doyle said it could mean trouble for many counties.

“It would overwhelm Election Day polls and we want to avoid that at all cost,” Doyle explained.

In Collier County, there are about 50,000 fewer mail ballots slated to go out.

In Charlotte County, last year there were 34,00 vote-by-mail requests and currently they have just 5,600.

“We’re going to do everything we can to notify voters. We’re going to send out mailers. We don’t want to be inundated with requests and try to process those and just swamp our staff,” Doyle said.

Voters technically have 12 days before the election to request a vote-by-mail ballot.

Voters who don’t want to pay a visit to the election office can request a ballot online or call the Supervisor of Elections office.

My experience with a recruiting agency was pretty terrible, but at least I was able to quickly get a job. Kind of my fault, since I never did any kind of research on whether that agency was legit; I was introduced to it at a job fair from my local employment agency (partially funded by the government). Some peope online shit on recruiting agencies, while others praise them for helping them find work.

I've been applying to all kinds of jobs that are suitable for me in the past few weeks on LinkedIn, and not once was I ever contacted for an interview; I also used Wirkn and same thing. Currently taking summer classes and I'll be graduating by the fall, and since my parents are retiring soon, I have to find a full-time job so I can support myself and move out. I am also working on startups on the side, but those'll take time to become profitable, so I still need to work.

Most companies just direct you to apply on their website where you either have to make an account or many people already applied and you have next to no chance of being called in for an interview. I do have LinkedIn, but most companies there do not offer EasyApply and instead just direct people to their own websites. Wirkn is pretty good except it's only exclusively for finding retail jobs, and obviously the retail industry is extremely competitive and stubborn. I tried to apply for Amazon because apparently they'll hire anyone no matter what... only to find out that none of the facilities that are within my area are even hiring.

I'm still in school so that further limits the kind of jobs I can get and since I don't have a car nor have a driver's license, even worse. I just want to be able to get a part-time or temporary job atm until I graduate, and then I won't mind doing full-time, contract, internship, etc. I am currently taking computer programming in college and sadly the tech industry isn't really hiring anyone unless they're very skilled and/or experience, so tough luck there. My only past experience would be volunteering at Habitat For Humanity as a retail associate and some food bank when I was still in highschool; I have worked before... but those just hurt my chances.

So I was thinking, maybe I shouldn't even bother applying online because there's too much competition and gatekeeping. Instead, maybe I should just either apply in-person or just contact recruiting agencies as well as NGOs that can perhaps help me be connected with companies desperately seeking employees for work. If there's supposed to be a labour shortage even after all these years since 2020, then why the fuck is it still extremely difficult to get interviews, let alone be hired? I will also attempt to apply for a "real" job (corporate career relevant to my education) later on, but the way things are going, I fucking doubt it.
