President Franklin Roosevelt (FDR) introduced 30-year mortgages almost 100 years ago. Now, in 2025, the Trump administration is considering introducing 50-year mortgages to the housing market, which would make homes more affordable, if you only consider the monthly payment, though the total cost would be higher.
