I had to let go of guy who I liked/loved a lot because he wasn’t really into me like I was so I didn’t want to lead him on or put myself through the situation of it feeling one sided. He liked me but I liked him much more and my older sister gave me an advise that it’s important that a man loves you more than you love him because once he loves you that is forever but if it’s not strong at first it’ll fade out. Every once In a while our eyes meet at college being around thirty thousand of students and I pretend to not show my feelings for him. He calls out my name and tries to get my attention but I keep walking away to my car. I’m trying to move on because I know I deserve better, someone who will love me more.

Unrequited love is a one-sided love that is not openly reciprocated or understood as such by the beloved. The beloved may not be aware of the admirer's deep and strong romantic affection, or may consciously reject it.
All you do is spend your days thinking of someone who will never think of you. You'd do anything for that person, and they'll do nothing for you. You can't forget them, and it's tearing you apart.
It's based on codependency addiction. It's the desire to crawl into your beloved's skin to try and enjoy what their life brings because you feel a lacking in your own.
Its like feeling of being completely, hopelessly, desperately in love with someone, all the while knowing that your feelings will never reach them, haven't inspired them like they inspired you.

Its contradictory in that you feel incredible because you love someone so much, but also at the same time you feel almost overwhelming despair because they don't want to be yours, will never be yours and rightfully so. We do this to ourselves. It can be masochistic in nature. This causes so much heartache, but you enjoy loving the person so much, you willingly let your heart go through the agony, so you can hold onto something- hold onto hope. Imagining they are the key to everything you are missing. When in reality, this venture just brings you back to yourself. Of which we want to refuse to face, we want to escape from the reality of facing ourselves. It's torture. It's a cycle. A never ending cycle unless you choose otherwise, but we accept the process of the victim mindset because we don't feel worthy, we feel weak, we fear being alone and we hate ourselves- even after trying to love ourselves and going through all the self growth.

In the end, you discover that they were nothing like you dreamed them to be, or who you thought they were. You see incompatibility and pain when you look at them, then you wonder why you never appreciated yourself- how beautiful you love another so hard and so deeply.
