So many people talk about wanting to be attractive, and it’s not like I don’t get it. I’ve been pretty conventionally unattractive for most of my life, but I don’t see it as a flaw anymore. If anything, I more easily know who’s a good person and who isn’t because they judge me solely off of my looks and know that me being around them gains them nothing that they want for that alone. When you’re attractive, there are absolutely people who are vapid and vain and will gain something by having you in their circles or on their arm and you always hear the stories of women being stalked by men who took good manners as flirtation, or friends losing friends because they lost a beauty factor they once had. It doesn’t seem “real” to me, but when you’re not in that category, it seems like you find more sincere relationships that last much longer.

By pick me, I mean the type of woman who constantly seeks male approval by agreeing with whatever men say, even when it goes against her own interests. For example, if a man criticizes women that wear bikinis at the beach, the pick me is the first to nod along even though she herself is often seeking validation and attention. The issue is that a pick me’s loyalty isn’t really to you; her loyalty is to being chosen. And if her whole identity revolves around being picked, what happens when someone else gives her that attention? But I’m sure men realize when a women is desperate for approval, so my question is, do you see someone desperate to be liked by all men as marriage material? She’ll do whatever you want, but how worthy is she and will she loose interest once others give her attention?

I've become friends with a coworker (save the lecture, it's just retail). I believe we both have feelings and that's where it's heading, but he's scared to make a move (severe insecurity and risk of work problems most likely) and so am I. And I still have some doubts, so I'd like feedback. Are these things he has done just something a guy would do if he sees you as a friend? I'm autistic (he is too) so I have trouble with this stuff :( We're both single by the way and are aware of that.

-gives a custom nickname, and petnames ("my dear" "yes maam" "the lady")

-sent a sleepy shirtless picture (not full body but the shoulders were showing)

-has told his friends/family about me

-does things for me even though it's not his favorite (taking pictures with me, watching my favorite show)

-subtle touches like nudging and patting the back, playfully touching my knee

-shares very personal life stuff

-wants to spend time with me (I always do the final planning though, we've hung out 3 times - seen 2 movies, and the third time took a walk then went to dinner)

-willing to drive 30+ minutes to see me

-told me he doesn't know when he's being flirted with and also is scared to touch women without explicit permission

This sounds so obvious typing it out but I'm still conflicted. Looking primarily for male feedback but will gladly take anyone's opinion. I really don't wanna be the one to bring it up to him, so maybe also some tips on how to clearly show him I'm open to taking it further?
