Traditional gender roles in relationships are changing as more women take on high-paying jobs and become primary breadwinners. However, some men and women still cling to traditional gender roles, including the belief that women who out-earn their male partners will ultimately lose respect for them. But evidence suggests that it's not the mere fact that women are earning more than their partners that causes the loss in respect, but it's the lack of balanced responsibilities between two partners in the same household.

According to reports I mentioned in an original blog post, married women perform about twice as much more unpaid domestic work than their male partners. Some research suggests that even when wives are the primary earners and both partners work outside the home, married mothers are still doing the lion’s share of the housework and child care.

If you found yourself always doing significantly more around the house than your partner, even when you're contributing an equal share of the household finances, how would you approach this to make things more balanced? At what point would you simply walk away from the relationship or marriage?

Curious to see if people's opinions on the traditional way people do life such as marriage and kids is as appealing once you've been through it. I never want to get married and people think it's wrong. I'm all about living in the moment and keeping life fun and free of stress until I die. I do want a serious relationship, if I meet the right person but not marriage. Just curious to see if people are genuinely married and have kids and happy or if life becomes miserable when you are no longer your priority.
