The husband wants to go with his wife and kids together so that when the hurricane comes, they all leave together as one as a family, but the wife made the choice to leave her husband with the two kids and go with his cousin and leave the city in the midst of the hurricane approaching. The husband/dad alone with the puppy is alone and has to survive somewhere to get to higher ground.
