When was the last time you just looked around and said to yourself "Man, My tax $ is being put to good use!". This had to have happened once?

I'm thinking something local. Not any foreign policy or domestic policy but something you've been to or seen that really made you think that.

I have several but I think the most meaningful one was when I went to pick up my kids at the community gym and much of it had been converted to a cooling station for the elderly due to the hot weather and it was just gratifying to see that something purposeful and important was being done. I am also continually impressed by every park, preserve, trail and beach in my area. I like that my tax dollars are being used for preservation and enjoyment of the natural environment. To me it just sends a message of priorities and making the right choices with the public trust.

These days,  I notice more and more all that work . When I look at all this greenery in my city, flowers and plants pairing together, colors and shapes delightfully scattered. Nothing of that existed twenty years ago.  I think I could hug a public gardener just for that  lol. Bicycle lanes layout also, that made me ride a bike again and enjoy the newly found safety. Architecture evolution as well, a lot of creative guys have been hired to spawn some interesting buildings, some squares redesign etc. I could complain about the current public hospital though, they waited for so long before building a new one. It's on the run, but it still needs a few years to be operational probably.

They repaved the streets in my neighborhood and it’s looks great. Very good. It also helps improve the home value of my neighborhood. I’m really happy about that

But other than that I don’t know WTF my state is doing with my tax dollars ESPECIALLY when it comes to our city capitol (Denver). Taxes are going up and up yet there is more litter, more urban decay, more drugs, more homeless, etc. then over before.
