I’m wondering how many people have gone through a similar situation where you had to for your own self respect reject a guy or a girl that you really liked.

How did you feel afterwards? How did you heal from it?

I recently started talking with a guy that I had a crush on. His the one who approached me in the first place. He also showed interest only to slowly start pulling away. He started showing signs of confusion as to his desire to continue this friendship/ new relationship maybe love thingy with me. I felt my emotions being hyped up unfairly by him. He new I had an interest in him. I had a hint that he was approached by other girls too as a suitor. He confessed he is stuck in making a decision and doesn’t want to upset anyone. When he asked of me to stay in contact. I felt it was totally unfair of him to ask this of me while his going to take his precious time deciding what he wants. I felt like a doormat that he can come and say Hi whenever he feels like it. One thing I did was to never pursue him when he took his distance. I stayed indifferent and acted like I don’t care and don’t live for him. He promised to see me one day but never planned anything within those two weeks. I felt like I had to put my foot down to avoid more hurt. So I told him that it was best if we stopped being friends and moving on. He never replied back to my message. I’m assuming he didn’t care and I actually just made it easy for him.

I know guys are taught to be less verbal and more physical. As in, to express their feelings and emotions, actions are better with words.

My boyfriend is not the king of compliments. He barely compliments me. I feel like I have to fish It out from him in order to get compliments, etc. When we first dated he did it more often (been together for a few months) but now it's not as often.

I am a woman and it's always nice to hear her man say "you look beautiful" or "Im so lucky to have you". That only happened in the beginning but not anymore. He told me he doesn't do cheesy stuff and he's only been in one serious relationship before me (we're in a serious relationship) so he claims he doesn't know how to behave, especially around me. and no, we are not teenagers. we're both grown adults!

But I do take his physical signs as affection and love for me. For example, he cooks for us. But... I'm not sure if this indeed a sign or not.


My questions are:
1- is this ok since guys are not really verbal?
2- how do guys show their affection by being physical? I need examples
