I know this will come off as sexist, but I'm curious.

What's wrong with men being better than women? For example, if a woman is a queen, she is at the highest level that a woman can be at. The king is highest level, period. So for the queen to be equal to the king, that means she has to bring the king down.

What's wrong with accepting queen status?

Again, this is very easy to say when you're at the king's level. VERY easy. If you were at the queen's level in this scenario you would be rightfully indignant.

@naturallywonderful I get what you're sayin. But what's wrong with being the queen? That's the highest possible status for you, the HIGHEST. Is it just the fact that the king is above the queen? Or maybe not even that, is it just the idea of being below a another level of power?

I'm curious to know when women stopped being satisfied with that status and thought "Why can't I be the king?"

Because women love up trading, they hate settling. Even if they have the best of the best.

@CorruptedDocument That's what I thought it was. I mean, genders aside, how can one not be satisfied with reaching their highest status level possible? Why can't the women be happy with being queens, let men be kings, and allow ourselves to prosper?

Why ruin a perfectly functional system just because you happen to be below a level of power? Just look at how the system works. If a king marries a woman, any woman, she becomes the queen. If a queen marries a man, that man does not become the queen, he's just the queen's husband.

I'm wearing out this king/queen thing, but there's a philosophy behind it in general social terms. As men elevate themselves, we bring women up with us. So why disrupt that by bringing men down for the sake of equality? As long as we keep elevating ourselves, we're bringing women with us! Can't they see that?

FEMinism doesn't mean equality otherwise it would be called EQUALism which is a thing. FEMinism is where woman get equal rights but dont get rid of double standards that favor them which in the entirety isn't equal. If you believe that double standards that favor woman should be gone to you are an equalist not a feminist

Egalitarianism not equalism. Most feminists belong in the egalitarian camp, but because egalitarianism is not as well known as feminism, they identify with feminism.

Feminisim def: the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes.

I hate when women who claimed to feminisits practice hate towards as if we are the superior sex. They have ruined it for the 'true feminisits'.

I love how all the comments from girls are how they don't actually hate men and that they view men as their equal then @naturallywonderful makes an incredibly sexist statement about how men have next to no issues and women have tons of issues and gets a load of upvotes from the girls.

I don't think you feminists know the definition of equality or what it means to not hate men. If this is what you think equality and mutual respect looks like.

"Feminism" seems to have taken a turn much like the svastika/maji.
taken by a few and ruined in the eyes of many by their ways.

Needless to say, I always find equalism to be a much more favourable term.

Feminism is dumb men and women are never going to be equal, we are different and thats whats great about it. Men are not better and women are not better we just have roles in our society that where set by nature not by society. Thats hw it works better

i'm really surprised with some people here.

people here largely grew up in a society of feminism, but they still reckon it's about matriarchy or men as slaves...

    erm.. no.

I am for the rights of women. I am egalitarian. I believe that it doesn't matter your gender identity, your gender expression, your sexual disposition, your sexual preference, your race, your cult or your creed, all were made equal and all are equal praeter factis. I vote on these issues, attend rallies (whose methods and message I support), I never judge a person for their identity, and I always call out bigotry. There are many, many people out there like me who want to see a world that lives in equality. To say that no one is an egalitarian is to say that the feminist movement is entirely composed of female bigots.

feminism is already for equality there have been men in the movement since the beginning. I have never saw "egalitarians" raising money for the new men's shelter in my city, I have never seen them at the rally for the male victims of a female child sexual abuser. I have been defending men and women in my community and actually getting involved with my local feminist organization since I was in middle school. "egalitarianism" is something you pretend exists just so you can ignore the suffering of marginalized groups and pretend everything is already equal and fine and that there is no work to be done. You sit on your ass and feel superior and spread stereotypes about others to feel self righteous. Meanwhile feminist women AND men are out there in the real world getting their hands dirty for real causes. Until you so called "egalitarians" get off the computer and actually do something I can't take you seriously, you are just blowing hot air. Real movements work for change :)

Feminism is, according to the dictionary, "the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men." It does not mean to boost women's rights above men's, or to put men down.

But it does not mean equality for everyone, it is equality of women according to perceived or real inequality... personally I don't agree that there is, but my opinion there isn't part of the topic.

The definition of the word and the movement are completely different things, modern feminists have made it a negative word. Don't impose the same standard on two things that are effectively different, that isn't equality.
