9 Stereotypes and misconceptions about atheists and Monotheist

There seems to be some stereotypes and misconceptions about atheists and monotheist I have seen thrown around on this website and in general.

Although, some atheists and monotheists are this way it's important to remember not to judge an entire group based on a few.

Plesse keep in mind that these are just my opinions, these are not to be taken as the only stereotypes and misconceptions ever.

Atheist stereotypes and misconceptions

1. Science lovers

2. No morals, not good people, or misguided, liberals

3. Went through a traumatic experience to become an atheist

4. Bashes religions, militant

5. Hates God

6. Devil worshipper

7. Don't want to get married or don't believe in marriage

8. Are sad, lonely and depressed and feel emptiness in their lives

9. All grew up in a religious family

Christian stereotypes and misconceptions

1. Uneducated, gullible sheep, not open minded, conservative

2. Have high morals, are good people, act holier than thou, think they are superior to atheists

3. Hate science

4. Are hypocrites, want to take money from people in the church

5. Militant, want to force their beliefs on you

6. Judgmental assholes even though they sat only God can judge, crazy, mentally insane

7. Always read or have memorized the bible, th Torah, or the quaran

8. Bash atheists

9. They all Wait until marriage to have sex

Keep in mind that I do know that some monotheists and some atheists are like this. I'm just listing the stereotypes.

I love facts, I am a Christian and interested in science, I see most Christians as hypocritical liars (since they clearly denies the principals in the scriptures), I do often have more respect for atheists than fellow Christians, I'll wait until marriage to have sex but hardly any Christians do that.
I'll to stick to the morals of the Bible, but just like the Bible say, I do not judge people for not following the Bible - unless they claim to be Christians.

I am educated, certainly not a gullible sheep but open minded and conservative in values. I do have high morals but I know I am not superior in any way.

So what I am :)

An atheist is someone who doesn't believe in any god. By definition, they cannot be Christian.

No you're wrong. It's a new term being taught by by church. So yeah you say believe in god but you don't believe in anything that he does and can do. @9mfeo

Actually @9mfeo is right, it's like saying I am a non racist, who hates all non whites... that is by definition racist to hate all non whites, hence can't be true.

The same goes for being a Christian atheist, you can't be called a Christian if you are an atheist. If you a Christian meaning believing in Jehovah and Jesus Christ, then you can't be an atheist.

It's a contradiction in terms, so no 9mfeo is right and you @Pink2000 are wrong and so are your church if they taught you this rubbish. It's not theological matter, is a matter of common language.

Ok a christian atheist is a person who claims to believe in god but they really don't. They don't believe in him or anything that he's done.

"No morals, not good people, or misguided, liberals." I have my own morals and I have liberal tendencies but not 100% liberal by some standards.

"Went through a traumatic experience to become an atheist." Nope. Just gradually came to my conclusions.

"Bashes religions, militant." I admit I had my phase when I went to the dark side but I'm over it now. I couldn't care less about religion or not.

I like this post. It's fairly accurate.

As a Christian who likes to talk about their beliefs frequently with people who don't share their beliefs, I know both sides of this all too well.
