Who has it worse? Men or Women? Nobody. So stop asking!

I am sick of seeing questions like this. Every single time I click on one to see the results, most of the guys say men have it worse, and most of the girls say women have it worse. What does this tell you?

It tells you that men and women both face a lot of issues in society. These issues are different for each sex, and each sex has issues of varying degrees of severity. Who has it worse? Nobody. Nobody has it worse. The only thing asking questions like this does is deepen the divide between men and women, and make sympathizing with each other less appealing.

Granted, questions like this do allow for some insight into what the opposite gender goes through on a day to day basis, but they do not need to be presented as a competition. Making a competition out of who has it worse causes people to be more defensive of their opinions instead of being open to understanding the hardships of others. What I'd LOVE to see is more men and women sympathizing with each other's problems, and doing their best to minimize the effects of these problems in their daily life. I do see this once in a while, but the majority of opinions and comments make little to no effort to sympathize with the opposite sex, and only rant about why their issues are worse than anyone elses'

That's really all I have to say. What are your thoughts?

I think we shouldn't compete too, but there are differences, abd honestly, in most cases its easier for guys.

Guys have it easier. They didn't have to grow up with the media, fashion magazines, and advertisments persuading them their body, hair, and face isn't good enough, thus have to deal with the body and beauty image worrying whether or not they look fat, or if their hair is acceptable, or if their makeup is acceptable. So even hot girls with nice bodies can feel subconsious about themselves and skinny girls can think their fat, etc.

Also some will argue that an ugly girl has a better shot at at least hooking up with a hot guy than an ugly guy has at getting any attention other than being a friend from a hot girl. That part is true, but the ugly guy has first pick at ugly people... Like if he has a personality he can and most likey will still get an ugly girl thats better than himself. Meanwhile the girl equivalents of him are at the bottom of the barrel of choices. They would typically get the ugly guys who didn't have personalities or really ugly guys that had a face that even a personality could make up for with ugly girls.

On to the attractive guys and girls. This ones 60-40 either guys easiet or girls depending on whats more important to you and how wanted you are. Im speaking from a really hot and sought after guy's prespective. If i was less attracive like just normally attractive, i might not have these exeriences. Attractive guys have it easier cuz at least in college girls let loose and its easy as hell to get them interested. And unless your personality is really really bad theyll stay or at least give you a chance or be friends w/benifits. And your in a position where you dont neccesarly have to worry about someone trying to sleep with you and never call you again. Meanwhile attractive girls do get a lot of guy attention, but they have to deal with guys who might just be trying to sleep with them and the girls are more likely going to get their feelings hurt or be paranoid about a guys intentions. And i feel like there are more hot players and douchebags who lie and cause drama then hot girls who are the girl equivalent ( not too sure on that though).

Not only that but guys have it way easier with their friends and getting ready. A guy runs a comb through his hair, puts on a shirt, he's ready to go. Girls spend hours getting ready to look attractive while guys dont need makeup and stuff to be at their peak attraction.

Guys have way less drama then girls do when it comes to friendships and social relationships. Also people are more accepting of a big ugly guy than a big ugly girl. I've seen it and girls and guys have talked about it, at first appearance people might be less accepting of your flaws and personality if you're a big ugly girl then a guy version of it. I noticed the big ugly girls that were universally accepted had AMAZING Personalities, while bigger girls who were sociable and even a little funny werent as accepted, but the big ugly guys who were the guy equivalent them looks and personality wise were freaking popular with everybody, whether high school or college.
And guys dont have to give birth to have kids or deal with the abortion issue as bad as girls do cuz its the girls body.

And one thing i left out... Girls have to worry about date rape and guys being weirdos/rapists so they have to take extra precautions when they hang out with a guy. And they can't just run or walk around at night by themselves without potentially being in danger.

Guys dont have to worry about getting date raped by a girl nearly as much or being abducted by a girl in a big white scary van. Or anything similar, it almost never happens.

so factor in all the precautions girls have to take in general for safety when it concerns being abducted, date raped, or something along those lines

For guys being harder, i guess if not being able to express feelings like girls can is a point to guys but i dont think its that big of a deal. But the guy having to be socially good enough to get a girl would make a guys life harder if he was so awkward that girls who were interested lost intererst.

I could not have said it better myself. I always used to tell my brother women have it so much harder but as I have gotten older I realise as human beings we are all pretty much fucked :) :P
In conclusion I agree we should understand each others struggles instead of competing as it widens the division.

The issue is that it is actually possible to have problems that affect some more than others and also different kinds of problems. You could argue about it but when you really want to know something we should be turning to science, conducting research and look for quantifiable disadvantages.

I think it's reasonable to believe one gender is presently experiencing more difficulties than the other and/or that one gender is exaggerating it's issues. But yeah, sympathy would go a long way to helping resolve *everyone's* issues.

Used to be women had it better. Men would do anything for them. They were in charge usually. Got most of a guys wages etc. Dunno now though. I'd say men are worse off. There's no kudos for politicians helping a man. Especially a white man. The new order in the world puts the white male at the bottom of the pile. There's no reward for helping him. you're obviously misunderstanding what I mean by slut-shaming. i'm talking about women getting ostracised and publically humiliated for having more than one sexual partner and using that as an excuse to avoid being promiscuous. realistically they are still promiscuous it is just with a small minority of elite status men ('alpha males'), they use the 'slut-shaming' line to make the beta males feel better.

obviously being harassed for the way you dress is not nice and I wish men would not do it but it's all beside the point. point is: women could afford to lower their standards and sleep around more but prefer not to. and the real reason is not slut-shaming (again, because nobody knows who sleeps with who). the real reason is because they just don'tfind the majority of men attractive. the same men will by and large be sexually inexperienced until they find a wife and settle down, plain as.
