No true Scott's man fallacy. If they identify as feminists then they are in fact feminists. The fact of the matter is the feminists in control continue to push for increasingly misandrist laws, and at the individual level you may stand for equality, but the group as a whole does not stand for equality, only the advancement of women.

For the 'egalitarian' people, do you expect women and men to ask one another out on dates equally? Pay for dates equally? Get accepted for random hook-ups from strangers on the street equally? Equality of *opportunity* does not equal equality of outcome. Get your definitions correct. I agree in equality of opportunity, but there will never be equal outcome. This isn't Harrison Bergeron.

"Feminism" already shows in its name that it picks one side over the other. I am therefore conceptually all for equality, but I don't label myself a feminist. I firmly believe that the ideal to aspire to is not sex-specific, and similarly I won't bind anything to sex and "gender" (other than physical sexual behavior, of course) - and that goes for equality too.

Im gonna have to disagree. I think the name is what it is because when it was created, women were not seen as equals to men and they primarly had to fight for womens rights. I would see myself as a feminist since i belive both sexes are equal and i do understand that they pretty much are in todays soceity.

I agree with everything you've said here, with one exception. Feminism is NOT about equality and fairness. It never has been and it never will be. You can believe whatever you want about what feminism SHOULD be, but the fact is that by supporting the feminist label you are simply providing a platform for the hatred and sexism that feminism is actually about.

So because you recognize there is oppression and sexism on both sides of the gender divide, I say kudos to you.

But because you support the platform of sexism and misandry that is feminism, I say shame on you.

By the way, I hate the term feminiazi because all it does is provide a scapegoat on which feminists blame the bad behavior of feminism. It allows all feminists to point the finger at someone else rather than take responsibility for the actions of their own group. No feminist considers herself a feminazi. It's always someone else. See how that works?

There are far, far more hateful, sexist feminists than any feminist will ever admit. The reason we see that ubiquitous feminist hatred all over the internet is because the internet gives feminists a place to vent their true feelings with anonymity. The feminists you mentioned on Tumblr are the real feminists, and they should be flushed down the toilet along with feminism itself.

So far I haven't seen any feminists who are actually for equality. If all the "real" feminists are sitting at home and the radicals are actually doing things, then feminism as a whole is not about equality.

And if I ever met a feminist that did fight against misandry I would believe it's really about equality. But most, if not all feminists just give it lip service, while all of their actions are fighting solely against misogyny. Again, no feminist has rallied against male suicide rates, unfair court cases that favor women for the same crimes, the draft, or imbalance of college graduation rates where women outnumber men.

It is so sad to find todays youth so unequivocally deluded. I'm sure I will get flamed for this but it's the truth. We have raised a generation of entitled, fame fueled egomaniacs with communist tendencies who are incapable of independent thought. Stealing one persons property and giving it to another is moral, giving one person a job over another based on race is equal and encouraging people with serious mental issues to mutilate themselves is right. Here's a crazy idea. stop calling yourself feminists and create a new group that's actually for equality? if you don't hate men and you want to work to make things better for both sexes, then why not do just that? whenever anyone says the word feminist, the majority of people are going to say, "You mean that hate group who hates men?" just make a new group with a new name that stands for actual equality and let the man haters have the old title. if actions for equality is what you're looking for, then why does a freaking group name mean so much to you? the actions of the man haters have already taken the word feminist. just let it go.

They're flip sides of the same coin. Equality under the law was achieved many years ago, so contemporary feminism is about promoting female hegemony, not equality.
