Why Election 2016 will suck!

One of the hottest topics on GAG right now besides the updates controversy is the 2016 US Presidential Election. There are a few Trump Supprters,Some Clinton Supporters,Some Bernie Sanders Supporters, and those who dont know or dont care. Honestly I think this election is going to suck either way it goes. It's not the issues, it's the candidates. Here are three examples.

1. Bernie Sanders cannot win the Southern States.

He has won Minnesota,Oklahoma,Colorado,Vermont and New Hampshire but failed to win at all in the Southern States like:Alabama,Georgia,Florida,Tennessee,Texas,South Carolina,and Virginia. It's also very doubtful he will win North Carolina,Mississippi,or Louisiana either. The Southern states are key to the presidential race. If you can't carry the South you cannot win presidential nomination.

2. No Independent candidates have the balls to challenge Trump or Clinton.

Back in the day you had people like Ralph Nader,Bob Barr and others run on independent tickets for President. Nowadays you don't see that. In fact the most successful Independent candidate was in 1992,and that was H.Ross Perot. There needs to be a strong Independent ticket as well to give us undecided voters a third option instead of a write in. In short: There needs to be a third party candidate with the balls and gumption enough that they can beat either Clinton or Trump's momentum.

3. A lot of republicans are not going to support Trump if he gets the Nomination.

Trump has been known as opening hus mouth at the most inopportune times and holding harsh opinions. However A lot of the republicans will not be supprting him. Glenn Beck has spoken out against him, So has:Herman Cain,Ted Cruz, Nikki Hayley, Ben Carson, and Marco Rubio.. My point is,if your own party won't give you much support then you don't stand much of a chance.

So, unless this campaign steps up its game and something momentous happens soon, this presidential election is goibg to be one of the worst in history.

I'm Canadian. I'll say that flat out. Only reason I'm concerning myself with this is because Trump is unstable, and unstable people being in control of nuclear bombs is terrifying. I'm not going to tell you who to vote for, what you do is up to you. If I had to, I'd vote for Hilary or even another Republican before Trump. Just the fact it's not only not for Trump, but for anyone else is enough to matter. With the extremely low amount of voter turn out... it's the votes that aren't placed that always decide. And more than often enough, it's the difference from evil and true evil. I'd rather have the lesser, but I have no impact on that unless I vote (I actually can't). If I won't vote, and the "true evil" gets in, it's my, and like minded people's fault he or she got in.

There's something Trump and Bernie has in their pocket this election. They have the people's passion... This means inactive voters are coming out to vote in a large spike in voter turnout... However only one is going to be the candidate. Bernie currently isn't going to even have the chance to front Trump. What is going to happen to all those usually inactive voters that desire to vote for Bernie, but won't have the chance? They won't. There's no good person to vote for, so why vote, right? ... Meanwhile, Trump is still riding the passion-train. This is how Trump wins.

At least if Bernie wins, he acknowledged at the start of his campaign he won't be able to do much, if any, of what he wants to do. He acknowledged even without opposition, he couldn't do what he wants in 8 years. And with the opposition of The Supreme Court I'm sure they none of it will. Which is kind of interesting considering how much hate he's generating from the other side saying he'll ruin "everything".

It's difficult to take your pieces on politics with much weight if you say things like "As far as me voting I actually voted Republican since everyone said Bernie was a socialist and I guess that is similar to communist." And I'm not addressing the fact that you voted Republican, but that you let 'guesses' and other people and unanswered questions (that have real answers) decide your vote for you.

I do find a lot of issues with what's going on.
1) Trump. Terrible human with terrible ideas on people and nothing of any substance to say.
2) I'm really sad the older black community doesn't accept Bernie Sanders as much. He's been fighting for the cause for so long. If ever there was a candidate to trust, it's Bernie Sanders.

Bernie Sander marched with MLK. What has Hillary done for the Black community? Nothing but talk. We need Ted Cruz vs Bernie Sanders. That would be a fun positive election.

I have been very surprised by this election - I didn't give Donald Trump a chance of getting the Republican nomination and I thought the Hillary Clinton nomination was just going to be a coronation - I think the two big parties and their machines are so monolithic that it is unlikely a third party or independent could ever break their grip on the presidency - Really there is no point in running as a third option unless you think you can win it and can fund a multi million dollar, multi month if not year campaign - The states is diverse and a one faceted candidate may fall where a party candidate can call on party loyalty to pull the different strands together.
As I said in first part I have read this election totally wrong most of the time - Your point (3) is most interesting, the republican party don't want Donald Trump to get nomination why, is he that unelectable?- On the flip side Hillary Clinton is not the most popular gal in town either - If (on current standings it would seem so) either one of these candidates is elected, I think America will have its most divisive president certainly in my lifetime which on reflection is some statement considering it only elected its first African American president 8 years ago.
I am glad I am not involved but to a neutral foreign observer it is totally fascinating. As I said I have being wrong nearly every step of the way but my prediction is a comfortable win for Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump (Not because of the strength of her candidacy but the momentum of the Anybody But Donald Trump support)

Neither will any Democrat, but Obama still dominated the election, twice. The uneducated deep south cannot carry an election. Hillary won here, in states that will go for the republican, and that just shows us how weak a candidate she would be in the general election.

2 - Bernie Sanders is doing much better than Perot ever did, so I don't know what you are talking about. You probably watch mainstream crap all day and think that there is no support for him.

3 - Yes, they will. They don't want Hillary to win. Some angry Bernie supporters will even vote Trump. I am thinking about it, and I'm not alone. Trump seems like the weakest against Hillary, but he might be the strongest, because he is the only Republican that can attack her from the left with any pretense of authenticity.

But it's true that this election is probably going to suck saucy balls, but that's because Hillary has already been coronated by the establishment that conspired against the Sanders threat. It might even be worse than that, if Trump gets sabotaged and some other establishment GOP clown is the candidate. It will then be the same old as the last 4 elections, keeping the same policies going, so that this country and world continues to head just as fast towards the shitter. And mostly because I will be forced to vote against anyone but Trump, if Hillary is the nominee.

If you don't want Trump to win, hope to God that Bernie pulls a miracle and gets the nomination.

And as far as Nixon and the EPA, and some of the others, that is a fairly blind argument. Nixon was around before the left was completely destroyed in the US, starting in the late 70s. Back then, the left had some power to influence policy, so Nixon opened the EPA by force, not by choice. Today, the left has 0 power if Bernie doesn't win.

It's all about money.
Look at Ross Perot in 1992, he was doing pretty well but he's no Donald Trump.
I wouldn't be surprised if Trump won the election. He has the support of a large percentage of Americans and if the Republican party won't take him, he'll form his own. He also has a bunch of endorsements the most recent being Chris Christie. So don't write out Trump just yet.

Bernie on the other hand doesn't stand a chance unless he gets a massive voter influx. He's seen as too radical and idealistic, leaving Hillary as the only alternative to Trump.

Go for the Green Party!
Right now the popular vote is Jill Stein, who is a good pick if you want the prez to care enough about the middle class to create green jobs, a better environment, and healthier economic infrastructure.
Personally I'm a fan of Cynthia Mckinney, because she is so into human rights, making sure everyone is treated respectfully and has what they need. :) I think if she became president that a lot of good changes would happen for us American citizens.
There's a lot of people who are fed up with the two party system, so I think there's hope for good changes to happen in the future as people realize that they have a choice to choose better and that there are some good people running as well.

Green party is barely on the ballet in enough states to get 270. They would have to win every state. Only 3 parties have a reasonable chance to win the Libertarians, Republicans, and Democrats. The three on a stage together would be fun. I like the Libertarians since they are so much about liberty, rights, and freedom. The Libertarians are on all the in ballot all but 2 states.

@Jerrod_Lynwood Interesting, I didn't realize that Libertarians were on the ballot in all but 2 states. I'm sure it would be interesting to watch a three-way debate with them, and with them having a high chance like that I think they shold get on stage.
I'd be open to learning more about the Libertarian candidates in next election, but for this election, my heart is with the green party. Everything they stand for is what I want for America.

I wish the south would succeed, that way their backwards thinking doesn't hold the rest of us back. If they want to keep following the republican establishment in making the rich even richer and to fuck the poor Americans even harder, let them fall apart on themselves. I like how they say republicans are right, like really, every southern state that supports the republicans are worse in every category. They get way more back then they pay in taxes. Higher teenage pregnancy rate, higher obesity rates, more crime, screw them.

I didn't watch the debates last night as I have already seen six of them but I understand that all the nominee said they woukd support Trump if he wins the nomination. I am supporting Trump over them and the Democratic field.

Don't confuse "can't contest" for "don't have the balls". If anything, it's the American people that don't have the balls or the brains to contest the two party system. We vote one for one individual over the other because we are afraid the other will be terrible, even if the first is only slightly less so.

The worrying thing is he has a lot of support and, without a shadow of a doubt, he will be nominated to face Clinton in November.

The only thing that can stop Trump is if all other Republican candidates drop out and vote for Clinton... but that simply isn't going to happen.

Bottom bar is that Trump is heading for Presidency.

@fiodor99 Our vote does matter. If everyone voted the election would be quite different. We see this in the Republican primaries Democrats and Independents are supporting Trump in the open events. More people outside of the norm change the process.
