A man should never feel ashamed of crying if the hurt is there. No matter what "society" says, there's a big difference between crying and senseless whining.
Ummm, but girls want a dominant guy. He isn't going to get much being sensitive... we have a whole generation of "nice guys" who are a bit frustrated. No, I believe that guys are suppossed to be strong, it isn't social programming but rather natural. Guys, cry if you want but don't be surprised if you are Friendzoned.
What women like is a healthy balance. Being ice cold is an extreme , so is being over sensitive. Women like a man that cries on occasion , but also knows the time where it's okay to be tough and put up fight. Shutting off emotions of sadness altogether is inhumane and what a lot of men are taught from very young ages.
According to a biological study on why humans cry in the first place we cry to express that we are weak and vulnerable. Psychologically, crying is the result of being weak and intended to convey that a person is weak in order to attract empathy from her fellow humans. Men shouldn't convey they are weak in an attempt to get other's to help them. We help ourselves and the weak because that's what a man does.
Men are the warriors of every society. If men are blubbering messes, ruled by their emotions, they will fail in that role and everyone will die. To quote something that Hitler said to a Hitler Youth rally: Swift as greyhounds, tough as leather, hard as Krupp steel. Those are the attributes that men need, if a society is to be successful. For the past 60 years, Marxist feminism has tried to weaken Western men by feminising them.
Parading around as if you are a programmed robot as become the acceptable and expected role for a man."
This is how societies work. There are expected standards and roles. As humans are social creatures, you can ignore these standards but then you'll be thought of as weird. Your choice.
it's not the fact that we're weak if we cry. we do cry... it's that most men just don't cry that often and not nearly as easily as girls so if a guy does, depending on the reasoning, we're seen as weak. like, if a dude started crying cause i punched him in the arm really hard, i'd call him a pussy

In Asia , crying is considered showing weakness. We are told from birth that Men Don't Cry. I was told the same thing whenever I broke a bone, failed or found myself in police station for driving without licence. The society wants us to laugh at emo movies and and anything showing tears. The last time I let out a tear was probably 5 years ago... or maybe 7... can't remember.
Men should never cry, men should be strong enough to deal with emotions. Emotions are illusive and used by people to deceive ememotional fools, innumerable no of evidences are there in history. Emotions are weakness of mankind. Emotions are big hinder in mind evolution. Girls are well equipped playing with emotions better than men. (not all girls, generally )

Honestly a "toughen up" attitude has served men well, historically speaking. Now yes, we should definitely be allowed to display any emotions we want, but some emotions serve little purpose.
I also can't really get past thinking that one big reason girls are so very accepting of men crying is that us doing it is a huge show of trust towards them. If we start crying in front of whomever that would change.

I'd much rather have a man in my life that's not afraid to cry. I see crying as being more of a man than holding it in due to societal rules. To me when you put yourself out there, it shows more strength. Show your true emotions. I had a man in my life that bottled up his emotions at every turn because he was afraid to be vulnerable. Why? Two male friends of mine, I've seen cry, they are good husbands and fathers. I see them as not afraid. I see them as true men.

@betramm This comment is both rude and sexist. And to call women weak because they cry more is ridiculous. No one mentioned anything about feminists. It sounds like you "dislike" women.
just because on crying, society (mainly women) judges man's masculinity and puts a question mark on it; so to avoid it he holds back his tears. in my opinion it is ok to cry as it would filter such judgmental jerks out of our lives.
Men are not naturely designed to cry like women. Men who cry simply have too much estrogen in their systems. Those men are what normal people would call "faggots" or "pussies". Just quoting those words, not from me of course. But yes, you are weak if you cry and are a guy.
If you don't cry... your just not being human. Real men cry, we hurt, we need release just as much as women do.
Good Take!

When men cry or show their emotional side to women. The sexual attraction women have for men (aka pussy dries up) goes down. Women actually encourage men to be cold, uncaring bastards.
Think about dating. Guys who show he cares for a girl too much at start pushes her away. Guy who acts like he doesn't give 2 shits about the girl has a better chance of her jumping in bed with him.

This best describe parody of what i'm talking about
Lol no that's stupid! I don't want a guy to be heartless and of this was true I would've dumped my boyfriend a long time ago because his depression makes him cry all the time.
@AprulZ It's stupid but that's how the majority of women operate. Show you care for a girl too much and she loses attraction to you. Always keep her guessing and acting like you don't really care about her with a few instances of kind acts and she'll love you forever.
There are several instances where girls try to get back together with their asshole boyfriend who treated them badly. I've yet to find a case of women chasing back a guy who was good to her unless something change for said guy like he got rich, increase in status.
Dude that's fucked up and not how I was raised. I guess all those Disney movies and old cartoons of men being chivalry and gentleman-like were soo dreamy! Who the fuck wants the douche of the story what about all those women who want the manly knight in shining armor?
@AprulZ Well apparently the majority of women do, seeing as many men can contest being the loving knight who shows he cares for the girl usually leads you into the friend zone. Girls would rather be with a guy who they have to win the approval of (i. e. he doesn't care about her and she become infatuated in winning his affection).
I'm sorry but this is how the female gender operates and has been analyzed and shown to be true for most cases. The only case I can think of where being a caring guy doesn't matter is if the guy is really good looking and/or rich at that point it doesn't matter what personality you have.
That study suggests that I can go both ways. There's not enough information to make a definite conclusion that all women are unattracted to men who are nice and sensitive.
@AprulZ Actually conclusion of study was that women couldn't give a damn whether a guy is kind or not. It didn't seem to levitate or hinder his sexual attraction for him. While for men a woman who was truly kind person elevated his sexual attraction for her especially for LTR.
This is just one study but there are others which showed being kind was not a positive feature for men. Women often see kindness as weakness. From a biological perspective they get with selfish men because their children will be selfish. Kind children have a habit of helping out others a little too much and getting taken advantage of.
No, I think society teaches that men can cry at certain moments. Such as: -Family member dies. -Body part is blown off in battle. -Divorce or ending of a long relationship.
Yeah, those are the only situations I can think of where it's socially-acceptable to cry.
I agree with all of this. If I ever have kids, boy or girl, I will teach them to express themselves and not be afraid to cry. That doesn't mean being a baby though, I can't stand when people cry over stupid shit.

Do you want to get a beer? LMAO Classic!
Where's the research on that? Are you sure that all women work this way?

AprulZ is right.. after all, a few women could consider men to be all cheaters.

very well said i just wish there was a way i was able to put something like this into words like you did.
I knew that the title is click-bait.
Personally, I think men should not cry when they are hurt physically. (Unless it's a third degree torture)
But they can cry when hurt emotionally.
"I knew that the title is click-bait"
You know my writings way to well to know where I stand on issues like this beforehand :)
You bet :)
I agree with all of this. If I ever have kids, boy or girl, I will teach them to express themselves and not be afraid to cry. That doesn't mean being a baby though, I can't stand when people cry over stupid shit.
Society also teaches us we can't love without making ourselves vulnerable. This goes for men, too.
