Why You Should Embrace Your Own Skin Color

Out of Africa, our human ancestors traveled across the earth and settled around the world. They developed distinctive cultures and communities. Some human populations, more commonly in Europeans and Asians, interbred with Neanderthals and adopted immune system genes. All human populations learned how to survive the harsh environments, wherever they went.

The adaptations affected humans biologically down to the molecular level, as humans that were better suited for a particular climate or environment multiplied and lived on, while humans that were less suited for the environment struggled to live long; and eventually the particular trait - such as reduced amounts of melanin - would appear to be dominant in the population. That's just basic evolutionary theory at work.

Dark skin color usually suggests that you are more adapted to an environment with more direct sunlight. So, dark-skinned people are more likely to be protected from harmful UV rays than light-skinned people. Afro hair is well adapted to the hot African environment. The epicanthic fold is predominant in East Asians, Southeast Asians, Central Asians, some South Asians, Indigenous Americans, the Khoisan, Inuit, and occasionally among Nilotes, Berbers and Europeans (Sami, Finns and Poles). The epicanthic fold is believed to be an evolutionary modification to adapt to harsh winds and snow.

In today's world, the truth is that "whiteness" is seen as an advantageous trait, and this has no biological advantage. The only real advantage may be sociological, and that is linked to implicit, internalized racism. For example, many Black women may bleach their skin to appear lighter or use skin lighteners to appear lighter-skinned. The chemical agents may be superficial at best or detrimental to their health at worst. Meanwhile, East Asian women may undergo cosmetic surgery to remove the monolid or epicanthic fold. However you feel about it, this is reality.

This kind of implicit racism also occurs on GirlsAskGuys. I asked males which woman they would go out with, marry, or date. The questions had different wordings, but the purpose of the questions was essentially the same, which was to rate a woman's attractiveness by looks alone. At first, I just searched on the Internet for good-looking faces in White, Black, and Asian racial groups.

Here is the result: https://www.girlsaskguys.com/dating/q1897190-which-woman-do-you-prefer-to-ask-out

50% of the votes went toward the blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman. 33% of the votes went toward the white, brunette, darker-complexioned woman. 9% of the votes went toward the darker-complexioned South Asian woman. 8% of the votes went toward the white, brunette, somewhat lighter-complexioned woman. The African and Asian faces got 0%.

Because I figured that men on GirlsAskGuys tend to vote for white women more than women of other racial groups, I had to be more selective in the pictures. So, I asked a similar poll at a later time, but this time, I used more Black faces and less White faces.

I thought the poll gave Black women more of a chance to get selected.

The lowest numbers of votes went toward the men in the pictures. All right, so the men surveyed didn't find the men in the poll attractive enough to be selected.

In the next poll, I asked men which woman they would go out with. I only included Black women.

The last one got the most votes at a whopping 88%. I was surprised that one guy said that the last one was photoshopped. No, that's actually Bianca DeGroat.

In the last survey, I included 3 pretty Asian faces, 1 pretty Black face, and the ugliest White face I could find.

Finally, most of the votes (73%) went towards the East Asian girl. The young Black girl got 0 votes, but apparently an old drug addict white woman with no eyebrows got 20% of the votes. Interestingly, the men in that survey also commented that the survey was biased.

Attention To Women of African and Asian Descent:

Don't let the preferences of the men on GirlsAskGuys discourage you about your marriage prospects or cause doubts about your physical beauty. Think of all the evolutionary advantages that African and Asian women have as a result of adapting to hotter, sunnier, and harsher climates. I am a woman of Han Chinese descent myself, and I believe that women of color are just as attractive as white women in their own unique, special way. I see people of color all the time, so I tend to have a greater tolerance of beauty than other people. Most people of any race or ethnicity who are fit, able-bodied, and healthy look quite beautiful, in my opinion. Good health is what matters most. Take good care of your health, and your body will make you look beautiful.

Below, I include a song by Lady Gaga, "Born This Way". The verse most relevant to this myTake is:

I'm beautiful in my way
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way
