Why Anonymity Does Not Bother Me And Never Will

Why Anonymity Does Not Bother Me And Never Will

First of all, I would like to state that going anonymous is related to having a pen-name. Going anonymous would entitle a person to little or no credit at all whilst going with a pseudonym or a pen-name would entitle a person to an identity, often counterfeit in nature thus the prefix 'pseudo', that can be credited whenever wanted or needed.

The two of them share a similarity: they conceal the identities of creators/authors.

If one were to go anonymous, proper referral in cases of getting recognized would be a problem. If something went viral online and that thing was anonymously shared, how would people refer to the contributor? Similarly, when something went viral online and the thing went by a pseudonym, people would directly credit a non-existent person believed to be legitimately bearing the name and not the actual contributor himself/herself.

My take on the anonymity shaming in social networking sites

Why Anonymity Does Not Bother Me And Never Will

I have encountered users here as well as from other sites who admit that they despise users commenting anonymously, colloquially referred to users "going anon".

Oftentimes, an anonymous poster is often ridiculed for not "owning" his posts and opinions (a.k.a. revelation of who the contributor is) merely because he chooses to hide his identity!

To me, that is extremely silly because the situation is similar to a student being bullied as a nerd because he chooses to venture in STEM disciplines.

Guess what? That anon does own what he says; you just do not know who he is. What is to shame about people's choice of revealing or concealing identities? Either way, it would not alter the quality of the post.

Going anonymous would do well for the people choosing it. Will their choice really affect you?

Why doesn't anonymity bother me?

Why Anonymity Does Not Bother Me And Never Will

Long answer: In a general sense, I understand that people who go anonymous would want to transmit their thoughts and invoke emotions as an initial intention without getting identified for who they are.

Short answer: Their identity does not concern me at all; message does.

There is nothing wrong with going anonymous because people would credit/humiliate the work/composition rather than who the contributors are as persons.

Well, you might argue, "Their work is part of who they are!" Yes, you're right if I were to talk about it as if I knew beforehand that it was them. But with millions of people choosing anonymity, would these people even be found out accurately and be precisely distinguished from one another?

Thus, I think contribution would most likely be criticized and not the holistic aspect in the personality of the contributor itself.

Thank you for reading.
