My Rant on Race and Slavery in History

Question: If white americans want African American to get over slavery why do some white people like to constantly bring up that their last name came from slavery?

I'm only small percentage of black but I have full black relatives and black friends that have told me that some white people will point out that since their name is European that it's from slavery.

First of all I am perfectly aware that not all whites were slave owners back then. That would make no sense if every white person back then were slave owners.
Also I am certain that not all my black ancestors were slaves.

Second of all some last names came from conversion to Christianity and cultural assimilation from wars, which is why some Asian, blacks, and latinos have different last names, hell there are even French people with Spanish last names and Latinos with German last names and no one assumes that it's from slavery even though Latin America had slavery too.

Why do some people act like everyone in Europe got along? If that was true then some countries would not even exist. Do people just think Europeans sat down at a table and had a friendly conversation? No they fought and killed each other and the loser had to be under the conquerors rule.

And it's not a pissing contest between who had it worse. I don't know if it's lack of education or just choosing to not pick up a book, but it's common sense that initially people would have slaves or indentured servants that look like them because....and I'm going to take a wild guess here, people didn't automatically jump on a boat and sail off to find slaves.

If anyone thinks their ancestors had the upper hand because of their skin color then sorry they are a dumbass. If you were poor in America, and most whites were, then you had no slaves.

The term cracker by the way was created by white people as an insult to poor whites who tried to move up the social ladder.

And what is the deal with Africa? Africa is a continent not a country. There are many countries in Africa and everyone looks different. It's a big ass continent.

Question: where does the constant need in America come from to compare which race had it harder in the past?

Why is it ok for someone to refer to themselves as Italian American but if a black person refers to themselves as African American they are told by some people that they shouldn't call themselves that because they are not from Africa?

Yet it's ok if someone calls themselves Irish American just because they think they had a Irish ancestor.

Finally a good take. Personally I think we need to move on. Slavery has been illegal for over 150 years now, while true, people of certain races are disproportionally affected by poverty, poverty affects all of us. We need to come together as a society and figure out what to do next, as opposed to hating each other.

As far as I know, the only people that don't like calling blacks, African Americans, is black people (not all). I've never heard a white person even talk about that (well, except for the SJWs, but they don't count cause they don't know much).
I don't understand your point about their last names being from slavery. Where did you hear that? It makes no sense.

Where? Well it has become a pissing contest between people tbh.
Black people say "we've had it hard and we're sick of it!"
So white people say "we've had it hard before too, you're not special!"
And then the Asians and Latino chime in with the same shit. It's a never ending cycle of people wanting to play victim.

Blacks just complain to complain. Africa hasn't progressed like the other continents. Black cities do not do well like Baltimore, Washington DC, Chicago, Detroit. So many people create amazing products in their garages with no money. Others grow small businesses into something that provides very well for their families. I wonder if blacks just lack the will to better themselves. It takes a lot of effort.

Africa is a continent that has the potential to be the most powerful and richest continent in the world. The reason why its in complete shambles is due to a history that is filled with exploitation by the richer and more powerful nation and the tribalism mentality that many of the people still retain. And don't get me started on the donations that Europe and America hand over to Africa. How do you expect African businesses to flourish when they have to compete with "free" products from the West. The day Western nations stop babying Africa and invite it into the international trade market is the day it will begin to flourish.

Fort Washington, MD, Mitchellville, MD, Bowie, MD, Friendly, MD, Ladera Heights, CA, and Hillcrest, NY are all "black cities" and they are doing wonderful. Matter of fact, most of the residents here are middle/upper class. Moral of the story is that Poverty = Crime, not Race.

@Starrk No, Africans could have made somethong of themselves. But nothing takes off there and they have had time and no one bothering them. They have diamonds, oil and other advantages but it flounders.

Also, Detroit's failure as a city is the result of them relying economically on the auto industry along with a multitude of problems dating all the way back to the 20s. These problems one by one began to collapse onto one another as time went on until it hit rock bottom in the 80s.

Anyone who ignorantly blame the economical failures of a city like Detroit (who in it's hay days could rival present day LA and Houston) on "black people" or any one group is a person who needs to pick up a damn book.

@Starrk Detroit is a corrupt city run for many, many years by blacks who took the money for themselves and their friends. The citizens do not pay even their water bills. They always have their handout to the Federal govenment. They burn their city at Halloween. It is a mess. It never kept up with the times, it chased businesses away and the money it had was stolen by the corrupt. Baltimore, another F'ed up city. They let them destroy it! They went after cops without evidence and lost. No one will go there as it is dangerous and they killed the cities image of the Inner Harbor to one of a buring CVS and riots long with murder, murder and more murder. So many cities with the same problems. Bad schools that get more moeny per student than so e of the best schools. Theft, corruption and the crap just keeps rolling.

Did you just read what I said. Africa is incapable of flourishing because of many reason, most which involves them being unable to insert themselves in the international trading market. All humans have the innate desire to better themselves (if we didn't we would still be living in the Savannah). Africans are no different. They desire to be successful as well and implying that they don't is idiotic. African citizens are stuck in a stagnant state because of an exploitative history and many exterior issues that is outside of their control.

That fact that you think black people are the cause for the failure of a once "Global City" that was similar to Houston in importance tells me that you have no idea what your are talking about. The corruption didn't come about until after Detroit had both feet in the grave. The corruption simply placed the nails in the coffin, but the actual failures of the city was set in motion in the 20s and 30s, long before the blacks came.

Your problem is that you are blaming the symptoms for being the cause. All the issues that brought cities like Baltimore and Detroit to their knees are issues that were present long before black leadership took over. Detroit's weak infrastructure as a city can be traced as far back to when FDR was still President.

Baltimore follows a very similar pattern. It grew along with it's industries (steel, chemicals and etc). This growth brought in many blue collars workers including southern blacks, who arrived later. By the late 50s, Europe started to regain itself from WWII and as a result many industries including the steel industry in Baltimore went under. This resulted in "white flight" or better yet, rich flight, in which all affluent people left the city and moved to the suburbs. Blacks who were recent transplants didn't have the means nor resources to move to the suburbs (plus they were stop due to FHA redlining laws) and were thus left in the city.

@Starrk You cannot explain away each country, each city, the lack of entrepreneurs and success in large numbers. There is something missing. Bad school progress across the board, no significant economic progress even when blacks are in complete control, no momentum or pushing their children forward towards success. Just execuses and blame of others. I do not understand it completely but I see it and it is there.
