Good Take, except I have to clarify something about the breasts! LOL Women's breasts are an erogenous zone, whereas a man's 'breast' is not. This means there is no double standard in this case since our breasts are not the same look, and invoke the same feeling when being viewed by each gender.
As far as popping out a boob to breastfeed - well, that's another myTake altogether. Well done on this Take. :)
OK, I just want to say a healthy person eating a lot of high-fat food suggests a faster metabolism meaning it is healthy to eat more food; in comparison, an unhealthy overweight person eating the same food shows an unhealthy diet. For example, I can eat a lot of fattening food without gaining weight as I row and bike 3-4 hours a day but I know people who eat much less fattening food but still gain weight through lack of exercise and fat-storage genetic traits that are unfavourable for our society where we consume more fat and exercise less. Remember everything is relative!
Whomever wrote/drew all these comics are very adept at pointing out things both men and women like to talk over one another about and fight over, but seeing them in comic form is like, yeah, you know, that is kind of true. Both sexes do these things and each is convinced one is more right than the other, but it's like, no, it goes both ways. Now as far as solving these issues, well, not sure that looks like it will happen any time soon.
Many of the double standards that we have are ridiculous, and sadly, not as many people as there should be are actually willing or able to do anything to eradicate them. I am doing my part by not holding double standards, If I hold an opinion about something for women, I hold the same opinion for men; e. g. I think that women AND men who have multiple sexual partners are sluts and I do not congratulate either one in real life.
I can only speak for myself, but I've never really encountered any of these.
I'm sure that these things still happen and I'd be being disingenuous if I tried to tell you that it didn't but I also don't think that these things are ever going to fully go away.
I think admiring breasts but calling breastfeeding obscene is the worst. babies need food and if society keeps making It inappropriate to breast feed, more babies could miss out on the best food there is for them.
I am not so sure about number 3 and number 6. There is also more double standards, both against men and against women. Genital mutilation, single dad, child support, hitting, man avoiding fatherhood vs woman avoiding motherhood and much more.
It will be better over the next few decades but it won't be totally gone.
I agree with Number Four. Here's why, Because as an average girl who is not attractive like most gals. When I compliment men they get offended and say I'm chasing them. When I see the same men get compliments from women who are very attractive. They gush and are all over them. But that's okay that tells me a lot about the person in question. by the way Kudos to the Poster for writing this "Annoying Double Standers" I totally agree with it.
-Guys who sleep around and aren't virgins but expect their women to be virigns. -Girls who expect to not be judged for their experience but will judge a guy if he's inexperienced. -Women being distant is a sign of no longer interested but a guy doing it is supposed to make the girl want him more.
As this Take demonstrates, no one really has it better. Sure, some specific areas are harder or easier than the opposite sex, but ultimately, we all have areas where we suffer from double-standards, and it's actually pretty balanced.
Sheesh, why are some guys getting annoyed about this take? I guess they just can't accept that women are disadvantaged in some aspects of society just as much as men are. But yes, great take. I can especially relate with how men are not supposed to cry or show emotion.
Thank you! I tried to find examples of double standards for both sexes, I guess those guys would have just preferred I ignored women's issues all together.
And yeah, that one in particular annoys me. I don't think a man showing emotion makes him weak and it's sad that society has slapped that label on men just for having human emotions. :/
I agree with most of these, but I've gotta say for #9.. if someone's overweight, they should be trying to fix themselves. Being overweight is unhealthy. If you're average and you're just having a cheat day then great, everyone deserves to have fun sometimes, but if you're eating three burgers for every meal that's a problem. I do *not* think they should be shamed for it, however. Violence solves nothing.

Personally, I think many of these are out of place and outdated.
Also, 3. Male sexualization? Are super heroes dressed in spandex showing off their muscles in order to attract female readers? Probably not.
Because women can't read comics and women don't find men sexually attractive? Face it, I hear and see women all the time talking about hot guys and enjoying superhero films or any film with a hot guy. Just because it may not be done to the same extent as women doesn't mean it isn't happening.
All I'm saying is that females are probably not the public target there and, even if they enjoy it, there's no double standard. Female sexualization has been going on for decades, if not centuries, and is not getting any better.
Sorry, I never watched that. It's just my opinion, I don't identify with the female's point of views you wrote and actually I'm not even from the US - I guess this is an American societal issue anyway.
So yeah, sorry for commenting. Let the downvotes roll.
Totally forgetting racial double standards. Black people can't be racists because they are a minority. Black people can complain and protest the actions of whites. Whites can complain and protest the actions of blacks.
Women have more double standards than men. But there reason there are double standards is because men and women are different. For example, the reason there's a difference in double standards when it comes to men and women getting their breasts out in public is because the female breasts are a sexual object, whereas men don't have breasts like women. I'm amazed that some people are too dumb to realize this.
Although it is involved in sex (and i agree with what you said) i think its more borderline fetish like how guys like butts, even though thats not a sex organ
@RealDarkeyes It's still biological seen as a secondary sex characteristic therefor it's covered. Damn why complicate things? For 2000 years it was fine and then some bullshit feminists try change position of herbs in our kitchen? Get the fuck out of our world
Nice take, but hey what's the main reason why men have big muscles in comics and action movies? Because of "the female gaze" or because they're supposed to kick ass? Why women usually have perky big boobs? Not only tight, but revealing outfits? They're essential too right?
i once read a reaally long post on tumblr that kind of explained it. Ill try to sum it up:D its mostly the mens "fault". Because the men who draw the comics feel for whatever reason that this look is the only one that looks strong enough for their needs. Women usually prefer guys who dont look like they have muscles that haven't been discovered yet. The tumblr post had a pretty good example: men in magazines. for example hugh jackman for a mens magazine stands there showing his muscles but in the womens magazine he's wearing a dad outfit looking like the total dad. because thats what women want to see. a husband. and i dont know why men focus on the muscles that much.. and as for the question why they portray women like that: porn. straight up light porn because of pathetic men.

Okay - you see the one where "Hey, you suck at Math" versus "Hey, girls suck at Math" ?
Apply that to rest of your bullshit.
e. g. "7 - The great "makeup vs. no makeup" debate."
THAT guy is a hypocritical ASSHOLE - versus
MEN ARE HYPOCRITICAL ASSHOLES.
See how that works?
You making up a scenario does not equal reality.

Nice post, some of it is comical.
I see some of what you are talking about. But maybe not as much because men are becoming more aware of the cost of sexual harassment and body shaming.
We are even seeing anchors being fired or suspended for being inappropriate (or accused) behavior.
I can only speak for myself, but I've never really encountered any of these.

LOL, a geek girl wearing a Megadeth t-shirt, eh?

Yes, that is true. I've noticed those as well.
Great take, there's even more I can add to it.
-Guys who sleep around and aren't virgins but expect their women to be virigns.
-Girls who expect to not be judged for their experience but will judge a guy if he's inexperienced.
-Women being distant is a sign of no longer interested but a guy doing it is supposed to make the girl want him more.

True. Both sexes also have advantages and disadvantages biologically speaking too.
Sheesh, why are some guys getting annoyed about this take? I guess they just can't accept that women are disadvantaged in some aspects of society just as much as men are. But yes, great take. I can especially relate with how men are not supposed to cry or show emotion.

The comic in this myTake is just one example. Do you honestly think movies like "Magic Mike" were made for men? So yes, it happens both ways.
Sorry, I never watched that.
It's just my opinion, I don't identify with the female's point of views you wrote and actually I'm not even from the US - I guess this is an American societal issue anyway.

No problem, you're entitled to your opinion. I didn't down vote you.
Totally forgetting racial double standards. Black people can't be racists because they are a minority. Black people can complain and protest the actions of whites. Whites can complain and protest the actions of blacks.
Also, a woman can walk away from a fight without being labeled a coward. A man can't.

When will feminists understand that female breasts are a secondary sexual organ
Although it is involved in sex (and i agree with what you said) i think its more borderline fetish like how guys like butts, even though thats not a sex organ
@RealDarkeyes It's still biological seen as a secondary sex characteristic therefor it's covered. Damn why complicate things? For 2000 years it was fine and then some bullshit feminists try change position of herbs in our kitchen? Get the fuck out of our world
It is actually primaraly for breast feeding, thats the point of having breasts
From a biological standpoint

Those were rhetorical questions, but yes I agree.
