Tell me again how we can teach people not to rape? It is like teaching people not to murder.

It isn't about just teaching. It's about taking away their excuses. If instead of dress codes they taught guys, not to leer and be creepy they wouldn't be allowed to have the mindset that a girls body is only good for sex. If it was a school requirement to teach about consent guys wouldn't have the excuse of " I thought she wanted it." I understand you can't stop murder or rape but murderers go to jail when caught. Rapist get community service.

The reason is because rape is very hard to prove, most of the time it comes down to her word against his word.

      @Thisperson98

Rapists are not usually scary men lurking in the bushes. The majority of rape and sexual assaults are done by close family members. Rapists are uncles, fathers, brothers, mothers, sisters. Rapists are neighbors. Rapists are teachers. Rapists are boyfriends and husbands who think that their wives or girlfriends owe them sex simply because that is their job.

That means leading by example. If your son sees you catcalling women or talking to your wife like you own her, what do you think that teaches him? When you say things like “I’m the man and you have to listen to me” you’re teaching him that it’s OK to ignore the woman’s feelings and consent. When he gets to be dating age, remind him of how important it is to respect women. Remind him that she doesn’t owe him anything, and that pressuring her into something is just a bad as straight-up forcing her. Have these conversations.

Rape victims have just as much physical evidence as murder victims do. They just don't report because people are quick to do what you're doing.
"you can't stop rape, it happens." - acting like it's normal= rape culture
" you can't prove she was raped" - excusing the lack of justice given to these women= rape culture
There is always an excuse, right? And like I said in my take even those who are proved to be guilty of the crime are usually just given community service.

Actually rapes are a lot harder to prove than murder because the prosecutors have to prove lack of consent.
I would rather 10 guilty person walk free then 1 innocent person be locked up.

This is the bases of the criminal justice system. Also just like murder, you can't stop rapes unfortunately.

At certain extent I agree with you. It's hard to PROVE the Consent. The thing is we can teach our children What is Consent from Early Age.

It’s important to teach consent at a young age. Make sure your child is polite, and don’t ever let them be rude to adults, but never force your child to show affection. If your child doesn’t want to hug or kiss their aunt and grandma or whoever, don’t make them. If you’re tickling them, and they ask you to stop, then stop. Don’t let them think consent is ever not important.

@Being_a_good_Indian I should have said it is hard to prove there was no consent. Because it is his word against her word situation.

      Yeah !!!

Both social and legal understandings of rape are typically based at least partly on the notion of consent. Assuming for the moment that, in sexual encounters, rape exists where consent is lacking, the question then becomes what counts as consent. Women's sexual consent has in many instances been understood quite expansively, as simply the absence of refusal or resistance.

And that's my point only 10% of proven rapist are actually jailed. Yet the judges that make those rulings go on to be respected members of their community. That is basically the definition of rape culture

What do you mean by only 10% are jailed? Because last time I checked you get almost always see a jail sentence for a rape charge if the jury found the defendant guilty.

Asking a woman to be responsible is impossible. "Rape culture" has nothing on "It's not her fault, it's society's fault" culture. Which includes lighter sentences or no jail time at all for sex crimes, physical abuse crimes, property damage, the 98 types of birth control (That they want you to pay for), the psychological mumbo jumbo invented to explain horrific crimes like killing your own children, WHILE RETAINING CUSTODY OF YOUR OTHER ONES.

The idea that you CAN'T control human behavior, regardless of the laws you throw at them, terrifies people. An intelligent person would recognize this and protect themselves but no, i'm somehow responsible for Becky (Whom I don't even know) getting home safely she's plastered, walking out of a bar, her phone is dead, no idea where she parked, and she's wearing the loosest skimpiest outfit ever.

Shoot the rapist. Boom no more 'rape culture.' Not rocket science. Thats how you know its all BS, money laundering and social engineering etc.

Rape culture , patriarchy, cis gender etc. are all part of the feminist vocabulary and it is exclusive use by feminist and social justice warriors.

Your vocabulary reveals your mindset, every bit as much as using words like racial purity is used by racist bigots and entrepreneurship and job creators are used by conservatives.

You don't need to read the entire text to see the mindset of the writers when using terms not used mainstream, but almost exclusive in certain political environments.

You may not consider yourself a feminist, but clearly you buy into their belief.

No western country have a rape culture by any meaningful definition. It's both illegal and socially and culturally unacceptable, hence why it's not at rape culture by definition.

You take presume there is a rape culture in America, I'll say there is NO rape culture in any Western country including the US of A.

I also question the integrity and validity of the statistics shown.

In short, I strongly disagree that rape is pervasive and normalised due to societal attitudes about gender and sexuality in any western country anywhere on earth.

@fanggirl5 In rape cases, evidence it is often scarce and it is hard to know whom to believe. Thus, it is crucial to hear both sides in full detail and see how they compare, and also check for contradictions. Like, if she was wearing jeans, she should be able to explain how exactly he pulled them down. If she says they were damaged in the process, you can check that.

I know it's not pleasant for her, but no, you cannot blindly believe the victim and sentence the culprit without evidence.

@fanggirl5 I TOLD YOU! A lot of young girls (with sociopathic tendencies) just accuse lots of people of shit. I have gotten phone calls from a random women I had never met accusing me of stuff. Found out she called up a lot of people and accused them of all sorts of stuff as well. A lot of girls just want to say they got raped in a hostel because women like you tell them that this is the highest and most virtuous thing they can achieve as a woman

@Nachowedgie When a woman is told that being victimized is 'noble' and 'courageous' and worthy of platitudes, whether or not the story is true, many women will do what they can to earn those platitudes and that attention. Especially if it is as easy as claiming to have been victimized by something. There was a Spanish woman who spoke about being involved in 9/11. She told incredible stories at the support group but she was lying.
