Why Opposing Illegal (and Some Legal) Immigration Doesn't Make You Racist

Anonymous

The main reason is that illegal immigrants tend to be poorer. Consequently, when they come here, the rest of us, including those in the middle class, have to help feed them, clothe them, educate them, etc. If they don't speak English, American teachers have to spend more time teaching them English. That takes away from teaching other subjects. I live in Los Angeles. Our state and city invests a lot of resources merely helping the kids learn English. I would rather that money be spent teaching our kids math and science.

Since illegal immigrants are generally poorer, they generally pay less in taxes. And the more poor people that enter your society, the poorer your society becomes. Yes, I know illegal immigrants perform some services for a lower wage and it would mean high prices for some goods because you would have to pay people more to do the work to produce them.

Why opposing illegal immigration and some legal immigration doesn't make you racist.

I feel I have presented a RATIONAL reason to oppose illegal immigration (and legal immigration from poorer) countries that has nothing to do with race.

If you prefer more open borders that is your opinion, but please don't label everyone who disagrees with you racist. Be wary of people who argue this. They don't understand beliefs outside of their own.
