I don't think phones were. It's good like if you need to call 911 and stuff, but we don't have face-to-face social interaction anymore. We are all slaves to our phones.
That's because we are out of control, but it is very important if you are in trouble.

wow. like the 15th comment hating on phones. Geez people, this reminds me of the theological school I went to. Yuck. The place where iphones (notice they didn't mention smartphones, but particularly iphones, in which case, I trolled them later when I got out my ANDROID XD), were like a SIN and EVIL and BAD etc. etc... then I see these kids throw their expensive iphones and stuff in the garbage... (hey, I could have used a basically new phone assholes!) yet, later, they see me as one of the only ones with a smartphone and sense, ofc, the dated computers they have don't work, MY phone had to be borrowed several times so these dudes could check email... I even had a Rabbi rely on my phone to give his computer internet... yah, phones are so horrible aren't they...
The last invention you mentioned is totally the most helpful and needed! ^u^ Nice My Take btw! :D

Solar panels are nice, but we need cheaper batteries with better discharge rates too.
I don't like the phones, but the rest of the inventions are very nice.

@errorgoodnameunfound I have it but I don't like it. It's not hypocritical, I use it only when necessary, but it's usually useless.
Cell phones are invented just for the bosses, to bother their employees outside the working hours.
Those are good ones, but in my humble opinion, I'd say transistors, assembly line and electricity.
I also like to give an honorable mention to the wheel and microwave ovens
Yeah I do agree modern medicine is one of the most important modern invention. And I would say internet and plane. I would hate to travel months to see people.
Automobile, telephone, and the Laser which has many uses that are pretty good ones too, there are many more that I appreciate
The wheel, the boat, and capitalism.
We would still be living in the stone age without any of those three.
Language, Math and Science

i agree with language; i dont agree with math and science.. its not inventions.., or do you mean the subjects math and science in school? yeah.. i had some bad teachers.. so.. not 100% convinced..; i bet you mean.. the consciousness of people and the ability to learn ehh... i dont know if you can say.. that they are inventions..; doesn't matter.., but yeah.. without math and science we couldnt improve our lifes and would be nothing? lol, enjoy the spring :)
Vacines for sure no1. But id say the internal combustion engine and sattelites.
Not sure on solar panels just yet, the technology in renewable energy is getting better but it's just not there yet.
For me the three greatest inventions are
1. The car
2. The fridge
3. The stove
I once would not have agreed with phones before I got a smart phone but it is the greatest tool I own for fishing now
Computer is far greater invention than phone i guess (just my thought)
1. Controlled fire
2. Wheel
3. Calculus
4. Transistor

But you mean smart phones which couldn't have been invented if computer chips weren't.
Phones existed in the 1800s.
Inventions are important. The science behind them is.

BOTH are important. That's like saying burning calories isn't important. Losing weight is. Inventions are the result of science. You can't say one is important while the other isn't.
Science may be MORE important, but that doesn't mean inventions are important in their own right. They're how science is used.
