Wearing the qipao was fine.
It was the pose that was actually offensive.
Next time one of those SJW wear jeans, hoodies, t-shirts or any brand that is not from their "culture" call them out on it
Its just a dress! who cares? I'm chinese and I don't care.
If that's cultural appropriation, we need to start putting the hurt on all those Asians who are running around wearing American clothing. OUR CULTURE IS NOT AN OUTFIT FOR YOU TO WEAR!
There is no such thing as "cultural appropriation", and the guy who berated online is a disgrace to the Asian community and humanity as a whole. Fuck that guy.
Its a dress! And she looked great in it. Period. If chinese people wore a kilt or a lumberjack shirt am I supposed to get offended? Lol
Gee, Asian people have then been appropriating western fashion everyday for many years now. How many brides do not marry in white and in churches when they aren't even Christian?
A young woman wore a nice dress to a fun dance. End of story.
Just more people dialing whine-1-1 to request a wah-mbulance.
😂whine 1-1
@BonnieBunny Thanks! lol
I think this dress isn't cultural appropriation at all. The pose though, it looks very insincere.
Do you still find it insincere if their poses were supposedly based off of a meme? Just curious.
I'm not sure, but even to Hindus it is a significant gesture and I don't think that a lot of people from Asia would appreciate it.
Understandable.
Culture belongs to everyone and the concept of culture itself should die.
"Cultural appropriation" is just a way for snowflake minorities to try and bully idiot white people with white guilt.
Just leave her the fuck alone. It's just a dress, for crying out loud.
I'm Asian and I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Why is this a big problem? I don't understand at all.
Don't think she did anything wrong. SJWs are just getting hella wild with this shit now. Quit yelling about every damn thing under the sun
Wearing the dress isn't offensive, but striking the pose sure is.
Do you still find it offensive if their poses were supposedly based off of a meme? Just curious.
Are you saying offensive memes don't exist?
Not at all. I think people are misinterpreting the pose to be making fun of Asian people when it is supposedly the "Papa Bless" meme pose. I'm just asking if the pose was not intended to make fun of anybody, do you still find it offensive?
Looking at the pic, I get flashbacks of group pics I've seen of people pulling back their eyes to look Asian. I'm sure they didn't intend to make fun of anybody, they totally respect Asian people they come across in their day-to-day life.
by the way I'm talking about the girls' pose, not the guys.
I'm a white girl with literally the biggest butt I've ever seen. Since it's stereotypical for black girls to have big butts, is it cultural appropriation that I have a fat booty? That's how stupid this "issue" is.
This one cracked me up lol.
I agree with you. But, I don't think I ever heard that phrase "cultural appropriation" before. It's crazy to think that way.
Cultural appropriation is pure bullshit. You can wear whatever you want, stylize you hair however you desire and the very concept is pointless.
Caucasian man eats sushi. Cultural appropriation?
This whole "cultural appropriation" is getting ridiculous.
Oh shit, guys have the most hilarious things to say. I find guys' honesty refreshing! :)
@DianaWest LOL... thanks
People can wear whatever they want as long as they are not mocking a culture with that costume.
I think she wears the cheongsam just nice, better looking than I ever would.
