
What is violence against women?
Probably when you hear this question, you think about a slap, a punch, a kick, or any kind of physical aggression.
But violence goes far beyond that: several women suffer every day some kind of aggression and don't even realize it.
Often, recurring attitudes that hurt women's dignity and self-esteem are also considered violence.
1 in 4 women will be a victim of domestic violence in her lifetime.
What are the kinds of violence against women?
There are five kinds of violence against women.
Although most of them do not have physical aggression, they are considered crimes.
1. Physical Violence

Any conduct that offends her integrity or health.
They are the most reported cases and most of the time the aggressors are the victim's partners or family members.
2. Psychological Violence

Any conduct that causes women emotional damage and low self-esteem and to control their actions, behaviors, beliefs and decisions.
It is one of the most common and most difficult violence to be detected by the victims, but the psychological damage is usually devastating.
Aggressions can happen in the form of swearing, hurting the victim's morale.
Words are used by aggressors as a way to humiliate women, who often are also prohibited from wearing certain clothes, studying, working or having friends.
3. Sexual Violence

Any conduct that compels the woman to witness, to maintain or to participate in unwanted sexual intercourse, through intimidation, threat, coercion or use of force.
The victim's blame (she was in tight clothes, she was asking, she was drunk) is also a great factor, responsible for the increase of this type of violence.
4. Asset Violence

Any action or conduct that can set up retention, subtraction, partial or total destruction of women's objects. Such as instruments of work, personal documents, goods, values and rights
5. Moral Violence

It is not a very commented violence but it is more common than you might think.
We can say that it is any conduct that would cause defamation or injury.
It's when the aggressor gives an opinion against the woman's moral reputation and makes lying reviews.
This kind of violence can also happen over the Internet.
If you can see it, you can change it.
Violence against women is a crime and needs to be known. A man who commits violence once will probably do the same thing again and again.
If you are suffering some kind of violence, report it and ask for a protective measure against your attacker.
