Way to go, fools. Never mind that California is utterly unaffected by this Court ruling, and those involved with demonstrations like this should devote their energies to helping those in other states who might be affected, rather than alienating those of us who would otherwise be sympathetic.

These people COULD:

--Donate their time and money to candidates in other states where this issue really IS contested.

--Offer "medical tourism" transportation to women in states where the abortion rights they believe in will in fact be restricted.

But NO, they just want to block off a major interstate highway, taunt police who are just doing their job, and give me the profound urge to accelerate my car and hit them.

But these people bring it to new lows, and in fact, make their cause much more unpopular than it otherwise would be, and are utterly counterproductive.

I have posted before on this - I have a hard time compelling a woman to bear a child she does not want. But these people make that hard time easier.....

Petty? I am telling you how run of the mill people will respond. Antagonize the general population and you will lose support. And this was not just Sacramento either. This was going on in city after city - in states where abortion is sacrosanct. But these people would rather push Marxism and mayhem. And they will sabotage you, in fact, they already are.

What is wrong with letting other people in other states live under the laws they prefer as they let you live under the laws you prefer?

@MzAsh You know, I have posted on this before. Abortion is not an abstract issue like freedom of speech or freedom of conscience and belief. It is a medical procedure requiring a doctor woilling to do it. In states where abortion is frowned upon - the states likely to ban or at least restrict abortion if Roe *is* somehow overturned - abortion providers are already incredibly rare. Vast swaths of these United States simply DO NOT have abortion providers as it is. Women seeking abortions in those rural or "Bible Belt
regions already have to make the long car or Greyhound Bus trip as it is, crossing another state line will not really matter much. This is not in some hypothetical world where Roe v. Wade didn't happen, this is the "boots on the ground" (or tires on the road, or fetuses in the womb) reality, *right now* already.

The procedure doesn’t require a doctor. Anyone can do it if they know what they’re doing. The Janes did thousands of them without a doctor before Roe.

That applies to both sides of politics; Liberals who want to force vaccines on people, even though being vaccinated should protect them from COVID. And Conservatives who want to force unwilling unfit mothers into a lifelong role of parent, even though it has zero effect on the complainers' life, whatsoever.

And while MOST of the time, I keep to myself and generally don't care what other people do, sometimes even I am guilty of complaining about things that don't affect my life at all (except when it's me, they generally do affect my life, like "bisexual" label lesbians and trans people making it harder for me to find a partner; I don't complain about them just for their mere existence).

But yeah, wanting to force terrible, reckless, and probably stupid women to raise a baby because you think a 6 week embryo is "human life and abortion is the same thing as shooting a five year old in the face with a revolver" is no different than liberals wanting to force COVID vaccines on people who'll get sick and have really adverse side effects from them including death, just so "they can walk around with peace of mind when going outside without a mask."

The fact neither side can see they're usually just twin counterparts of each other is why I think 95% of all humans are dumber than pig sh*t and I'm done trying to help save this species of dumbasses.

Also, both sides of American politicians often hold protests, even though protests almost do nothing in the modern day and age and the corporations controlling the government couldn't give any less of a sh*t how many protests there are. ... I have always supported abortion rights, but I also support the right for men to get a paper / financial abortion. The fact women rarely support it has made me increasingly cynical about women's abortion rights to the point where I no longer give a shit. When women start supporting men's rights I'll start supporting theirs again.

I’m a huge supporter of men’s rights, but side with women on this one. If a man doesn’t want to be a father, or doesn’t want to risk being a father, he can make that decision while he still has his pants on.

@MikeInHawaii I agree with you there, but the same can be said of women. She can make that decision while she still has her pants on, too. It takes two to tango and when an unwanted pregnancy happens, unless it is rape or there is some kind of deception on the part of one or the other, both are equally responsible.

If we ever get Roe reinstated, and I hope we do, men should also be given the legal right to a "paper abortion" (aka financial abortion), provided certain requirements are met. Here's how I see them.

1) He must make the decision about whether to exercise his right to a paper abortion early enough in the pregnancy that she can still have an abortion if she chooses. He would be signing away all rights AND responsibilities that come with being a father.

2) At that point, the mother can choose to abort, or to proceed with the pregnancy knowing she would be a single mother. It's totally up to her.

3) The mother would have to notify the father she is pregnant early enough in the pregnancy that he could meet the requirements described above.

Currently there is no legal requirement for a mother to let the father know she is pregnant, or even that he has a son or daughter in the world. And she can legally withhold that information from him forever, or she can decide after X years she wants child support, and get it, after robbing the father of X priceless years with his son or daughter. That is wrong on many levels.

This is the closest we can get to fairness in reproductive rights. What we had before Roe was overturned was extremely one sided and unjust for men. Unfortunately, all of this is moot unless women have the right to abortion.

I am not confident that the state California will actually protect abortion rights, even if they do the clinics will be overcrowded from out of state patients.

Really? I *live* here. This place went abortion on demand 6 years before Roe v. Wade, in 1967, the Beilinson Act, signed into law by a then Governor Ronald Reagan no less. Even the Right Patriot Republicans who remain here (like me) are not going to touch this, because some of us just can't bring ourselves to compel a birth, but more importantly, from illegal aliens to rampant crime to crumbling infrastructure to over-taxation to wasteful spending, there is so much else to take on. Governor Pete Wilson, the last authentic Republican Governor California had, (Ah-nold Schwarzenegger was a charlatan) bluntly told the California Pro-Life Council that their cause was just not winnable in this state, and focus on the winnable issues.

And if the clinics are suddenly crowded? Well, that's at least *one* growth industry here in a state full of otherwise declining industries, and the doctors will follow, as will likely people catering to what will be euphemistically called "medical tourism".
