Why do guys say that housewives are Lazy?

They clean the whole house, vaccum + clean the glasses, windows, laundry,, removee the dust from all the furniture, do the beds etc
They cook
They feed the kids, shower them, help them with their homework
They shop for groceries, I mean they run the House and they're basically a "cook" a "maid" and a "nanny" all at once, and that's lots of work.
I'm not planning into becoming a housewife, but I think that it's no sense to say that they do nothing (I've seen this kind of comment a lot on the internet).

Minus the taking care of kids part, I've been doing this job ever since I was young cause my mum is always busy working. Heck, do they even know how tiring it is to clean an entire house? And if you have kids, you have to take care of them, feed them, shower them etc.. Then you have to cook and clean. Let's not go into the part where you have to figure out what to cook for the family cause if it's the same everyday, they will complain.

They have no idea how tiring it can be. It amuses me how ignorant some can actually be. I'd rather work than do all of this anytime.

p/s : I'm still doing this, especially cause I'm living overseas and I have to study and work part time. If only my house could be magically clean with a click lol! xD

Since housewives are really common for Asian cultures across the continent, I'll quote something my Bengali roommate said. "Men (of those cultures) don't value the work of a housewife, because it doesn't carry an income." I don't necessarily think men find housewives lazy, but it does seem like they just expect and if it's not all done, they question why because they think it's not hard. It's one of those things where those men don't know it, because they haven't tried it.

I personally think it's soooo much harder to be a housewife than do all these educated jobs. Since my mom passed away, it's been up to me... it's so exhausting running a house everyday and taking care of everyone. I would choose to go to work vs take care of a house every time.

Hahaha not all guys say that, some maybe but not all. None of my friends have said that. There are lazy people of both genders, men that are lazy at work, women that are lazy at work, men that are lazy around the house and also women that are lazy around the house. Anyone that says all men, women, housewives are lazy are just simply not worth listening to. It is like people saying all road workers are lazy, I would like to see the people that say this out digging a hole in the ground in the middle of the day on a hot summers day. I personally don't like anyone that comments about people like this without actually knowing facts to start with.

Yes and I used the road worker example because that is a common one, these people that drive their cars everyday would not be able to drive their cars if the road workers did not maintain the roads. Also it has been explained why you see so many people standing around at road working sites often. Much of the work has to be supervised. They are not aloud to do it without a supervisor there, an engineer there and then often you have a boss to. It is to ensure our roads are built safely. So as you can see before you know it you can have about 5 or 6 people or maybe more there.

Because I have spent the day doing that shit and it's not half as bad as going to work and dealing with the stress and the assholes you have to work with then returning home and having to chip in with all that stuff too. If you added the pressure of being a provider on top of that I imagine it would be even worse. Spending the day playing with the kids and cleaning and shopping while someone else pays the bills is easy. If I could marry a rich woman and become a house husband I'd jump at the chance!

Considering nowadays daughters are gonna be working and likely taking care of the house, we will have seen both sides. I think brown men do have their good qualities, but from my experience, it's rare to see one really help with housework, and I can't imagine the rest of my life working and being stuck with someone who won't help around the house at all. And yes, I've had more than a little taster and it's not temporary. I don't have a mother anymore, so I take care of everyone. My father also has advanced stage cancer, so pretty soon I will have even more responsibility than I can possibly fathom. Could you say the same thing honestly? Has a family ever completely depended on you to do either housework for more than a month straight? I wouldn't have said so much if I didn't have the experience myself.

But I did mention coming home from work and chipping in around the house, I never said I'd come home and expect to be waited on hand and foot. I wasn't raised in the desert and really I'm being stereotyped, not that it really bothers me, neither does being called a doof in response to my obvious sarcasm about the racism comment.
@Prof_Don that's fair enough, not that you're inferring that the next bit I'm about to say isn't true, but I wouldn't mind the role of nurturing, teaching and instilling values in the next generation- I think that's a remarkable accomplishment.

I appreciate that. I'm sorry, I did take it too far with the stereotyping. I will specify and say just the majority of the brown men from just my own personal experience. I do know and appreciate the exceptions and perhaps you are one. I do think being a housewife is very difficult work and undervalued especially by men who haven't had to do that level of care at home. I am speaking as someone who also like yourself will be working full time and coming home and helping take care of the home. I am also speaking as someone who has to fill in the shoes of a 26 years of experience housewife. Do you see what I'm trying to get at?

I only brought up my background to emphasize why I would pick work over housewife…I wanted to share that I really have experienced both sides to back up my claim. Maybe I wasn’t clear, but I never said I personally was underappreciated for my work. I am honored to help my grieving family. I just feel for those who have done housewife all their lives and have been treated as though they have an easy job especially when I realize how demanding it is. Neither side is easy, but if housewifing was so easy, why don't more modern people do it? I have only experienced brown men with this underappreciation. @coconutelixir It's easy in comparison, I agree it takes a lot of patience and dedication but the alternative is more demanding, in my opinion. The mental image of a slave housewife and free bird husband comes from the women who feel unappreciated: that's usually how they paint it, comparing a man's job of "40 or 60 hours a week to a mom's contracted hours which is basically every hour of her life until she dies." People want to feel equally important and at some point the role of housewife started getting looked at as unimportant, that's why they don't do it.

You stated a housewife's job is easy in your first post. I have always just said working a job is easier of the two. Both are demanding. Now you say career is easier of the two, and I can respect that view more. I do disagree and think if that was true, in a progressive society, women wouldn't be jumping at the opportunity at career and men would be jumping at the opportunity be the home maker. I think that alone speaks volumes. Regardless, in probably both of our futures, we will be doing both (well I will at least). If I'm expected to be with someone brown, I just hope he doesn't put it all on me. I have seen it too often. Don't get me wrong, brown men aren't horrible. in my opinion they're more loyal, more caring and compromising in other ways, and I would trust them more... it's just that I also think they tend to be more lazy around the house and I think it stems from the mentality that housework is easy and yet they still won’t do it.

Househusbands are a thing but there's a stigma attached to doing that because of gender roles, the same as housewives having a stigma attached with all the venom feminists spew at the role. If people cared less about what other people think it would be more balanced and you'd see a more even split of stay at home dads and moms, I don't think it speaks volumes because that suggests one gender takes the easy path, holding down a job and providing for the family AND splitting responsibilities down the middle at home certainly isn't easier, in my opinion it's harder and being responsible for the kids and household without having a job as well is easy in comparison.

FYI, if a woman or man wants to be a home maker in modern days, I am 100% for it. If one person works and the other takes care of the house, I think both sides should appreciate each other. Example of a housewife being unappreciative is irresponsibly spending her husband’s money. in my opinion, you can’t really say one side is harder if you haven’t done both. You can just say the one side you have done is hard work.

not gonna lie, that would be awesome to have a house wife. i grew up in an area where a lot of my friends' moms were housewives (so much for the 21st century working girl bullshit) and they were always picked up from school from their parents and i had to stay in after care in elementary school :(. also, that means we could support ourselves with 1 person working rather than 2 people working and struggling to pay bills :D
