What's the scariest myths or conspiracies you've ever heard?

For me, it would have to be the one of "This Man" since it's so creepy how so many people could see him in their dreams but never while they're awake. Some people actually believe it maybe God in a human for visiting people's dreams, since he tends to give people advice in the dream. What do you think? What're some other ones you know?

The one I find creepy is about the lady with the big smile. It's a Japanese tale about a married lady with a beautiful face who whored around. One day her husband got sick of it and he took a knife and cut a line across her face, making the slash appear as a wide smile and he said "Let's see who thinks you're beautiful now". They say that she approches people with a scarf covering her face and asks "Do you think I'm pretty?" If they say yes, she removes the scarf and ask "Do you still think I'm pretty?" If you say yes, she will follow you home and kill you, if you say no, she'll spare you if you so some kind of ritual. Only way to guarantee your safety is if you say she's modern, or in between.

It's the story of an old Japanese poem. It's very disturbing/creepy, and if you read it out loud, it will bring misfortune or even DEATH. This is actually a read poem you can find, but I wouldn't suggest reading it out loud... Some people don't notice it for awhile, and others notice it right away. It's said that as long as you DO NOT read it out loud you'll be, listening to it being read or reading it in your head does not bring the curse on you. I will not post the poem, but I'll lost the image on it.
