Because a certain popular religion decided that god gives a damn about who, when, and why a female has sex.
Men LOVE to go where no man has gone before. Every guy loves a virgin, even if he plays the whole "I respect a women's rights" card.
Virgins are rare nowadays in a sexually infused atmosphere and society that we live in and guys want to seek those that haven’t been put into pressure of losing it
Boils down to religion, honestly. It's a myth that the vagina stays wide after sex and it's not any more pleasurable to have sex with a virgin. However "purity" is desired in religions like Christianity
Why is a new car more sought after that one with 200,000 miles on it?
That being said, a 3 year old Toyota with low miles is fine with me.
A woman who is letting somebody else take her virginity is allowing this man to make her physical pain. I think it is important to know to whom you give this permission to break a piece of skin that makes you pain and lets your bleed.
It isn't always painful. It wasn't for me.
You make having sex for the first time sound just as sexy as having your blood taken by a nurse.
Dunno. Maybe so she has nobody to compare against the first guy to see how bad she has it (sex).
I think it has to do with religion and culture... I'm not sure
I wonder the same thing. This is why virgins never tell the guy they are. #Ughhh
I've had girls tell me they are virgins. I'm open about my virginity. Since being a virgin is so more rare these days, I know girls who are proud of it.
@BrianMerritt why would I be proud of my virginity? That's stupid. I didn't earn my virginity. It was something I had since birth. Losing it would make me actually proud. Proud because I over came my fear.
It's not stupid. Keeping it in one's pants is a hard things to do. Choosing to abstain from that pleasure in order to uphold one's principles is an honorable thing.
People say that "pure" girls hate on promiscuous ones, but it's common for girls who have sex to insult girls who are virgins.
Losing my virginity would not make me proud. I don't "fear" sex, it's just something I'd rather not fool around with.
@BrianMerritt I've never met anyone hating on virgins. At least not virgin women.
@VonDamme I have. Mostly online, of course.
@BrianMerritt your clearly stupid. This is why if anyone one ask me if I am a virgin. I tell them no. Your pathetic and I can't believe your my peer. This glorifying of virginity only work for stupid people. You probably grew up with some freaky religion. I actually found those virgin type guys the most disgusting type.
haha
Its just peoples fancy.. you won't buy a coke if the cap seal is broken;unless it is severed to you in a glass.
I like the metaphor. And not just because it is relatable but because it is exactly the answer to this question... sorta, it’s quite an opinion based question but personally I agree with this opinion.
would you rather drink a new can of coke that had zero penises in it, or one that had 7 penises in it? simple really
For someone religion, for someone it says a lot of about the character of the girl. For a girl to be that pure and persistant is hard these days.
They don’t want a rapists taking away their virginity. They want it to be someone they love not some random stranger.
What is love really, just mutual sexual attraction?
@I_Do_Mind Love is way far from sexual attraction it's something that happens automatically, you can't force your self to love someone. and when you fall in love the emotions will make you want to kiss him and hug him, alright !
@Lionelmesssi You can't force yourself to be sexually attracted to someone, I don't see your point. And doesn't sexual attraction make one want to kiss and hug the person who is mutually sexually attracted to them?
@I_Do_Mind no, it's not sexual attraction it's love attraction. so when I love someone I'm going to love her/his personality how sensitive, smart, pure heart she is, that's for me, but maybe for other people they get attracted sexually by looking into her body which's mean sexual attraction, but those things for me aren't important.
@Lionelmesssi Love attraction is not a word.
Someone can find the qualities of sensitive and smart a turn on, that is not love. It all starts with a reaction down there and it drives people to make decisions based on that sexual attraction to that person's qualities.
@I_Do_Mind it's two words.
@Lionelmesssi Attraction is but desire
I believe they don't love thair own women in thair same country , so they choose women from Swisserland Viet Nam Egypt Ghana and etc etc etc to be thair mates in life. I know I have.
As long as she doesn't have AIDS I don't care whoever she has slept with before dating me.
Religiously, purity.
Sexually, it feels good to be the first who breaks the hymen
The hymen can’t be ”broken”. It can get a tear though if the girl isn’t aroused enough or nervous. This is not at all a necessary thing and honestly, guys should focus on NOT tearing her hymen because that will make the experience 100 times more enjoyable (and less painful) for her. The idea that sex HAS to be painful the first time for a girl is disgusting and false.
@lumos I wish we could like comments
to me its important, because im also a virgin, thats why i prefer to date a virgin woman.
Because so people still live in the 15 century apperantly
I don't know much about it except that it could be religious. but either way its ridiculous.
Not sure by I’m saving it for marriage and I’m a guy.
Means she's "pure" I suppose... no accounting for the amount of dicks she might have sucked tho... she might have also tried anal lol
It means they have no diseases so the man can give her herpes
wat?
Studies have shown that the more men a woman sleeps with the less her relationship will work out
What studies are these? I have never heard of this before
I will have to find it but women that had fewer sexual partners have longer relationship and marriages
i believe this
It's true mate lots of doctors etc they even have news articles about it I just don't have the time to search for them for her
shit you gotta get your cherry popped sooner or later
I'm from France and I never heard a guy saying he absolutely wanted a virgin girlfriend
Are there any virgin Frenchs i wonder... After all a type of kiss is named after you guys... 😜
^^ what a shame French girls tend to be pruder and pruder
Or they hold for they husband, or for someone to buy her virginity.
It dates back towards history, more like a tradition. Now it really shouldn't matter
we must stay virgins until marriage, but its hard to do in todays society where sex has no value to most people.
Girls who aren't virgins just want dudes who are experienced and with big dicks.
Well i guess it's kindda important for both genders not all about women !!!
being clean... she is clean inside
If some time has passed and she showers on occasion, she will be clean inside 😂 If you're talking about diseases, then all it takes is a simple exam. Many non virgins are without STDs.
yea but still if i was guy i would want a virgin too... that shows loyality self control respect and someone who has never had a dick inside of her... thats IS clean. Its better then a girl who has slept around with the possibilty of getting aids
Again, AIDS is easily detected with an STD test. This may shock you, but a person being nonvirgin doesn't automatically mean they have a disease. Condoms are a thing.
And a vagina having a penis inside it doesn't make it any less clean than a mouth having another tongue inside it. So... people who have kissed before marriage have dirty mouths too?
Furthermore, why is all of this centered around women? Do you not hold the same standards for men?
Because of religion and community, can't be with girl who is not virgin,
archaic notions of purity
You use the word archaic as an insult. Why does a notion's archaicness mean it's a silly notion?
@BrianMerritt I don't think all archaic notions are silly, but many of them are and that includes the concept of "purity"
I think that avoiding lustful actions is a very pure and respectable thing. It's not a silly concept at all.
@BrianMerritt that's fine, you don't think it's silly but I do. We can agree to disagree.
*shakes head*
It's a sign of purity.
It is a Guaranteed free from STI and other nasty diseases.
Most people are zombies and barbarians, that can be the only "reason"
If she's only ever been with the same guy she's got nothing to compare it too
It's like buying a new car v. buying "pre-owned"...
Religious doctrine makes dumb people believe dumb shit.
Very religious cultures do, something untouched is pure
And why men virginity is not so important?
Men virginity is important.
I will agree that female standards have fallen so low, that many women DON'T care about it, but I also know plenty of clean-cut girls who want a clean-cut guy.
There's no such thing as male virginity.
@Anon-ymous1 there's no such thing as virginity period.
@Volvagia That's... not correct. Why are you saying that?
@Anon-ymous1 I've already had this argument with you lol but yes it is correct. Can you prove virginity? No.
Uh... the term can apply to a male too. A male who has never had sexual intercourse is a virgin. If you want to come up with another term for it, be my guest.
@BrianMerritt but she's right. You can't PROVE that anyone has ever had sex or not unless they get pregnant or they have an STD/I
@VonDamme So? Why does proof matter? TF? This thread makes less and less sense as it goes on.
@BrianMerritt What I meant was the concept of virginity is in a way just an idea. At least I think that's what @Volvagia was getting at. I mean I don't really care, personally. I was just saying.
@VonDamme yeah basically, it's a construct.
@VonDamme It's not just an construct. It's a very clear action. Sticking a penis into a vagina is a very real thing. Not much ambiguity even.
@BrianMerritt That wasn't the point... it was that You could say you never stuck it in one and no one could really do any test to say yes he did! Unless you have like photographic evidence haha but at that point we're just being silly.
@VonDamme That's called being a liar. Yeah, there are plenty of things about yourself that you can be a liar about. What was your point in making that point?
Just because you lie about something not happening, doesn't mean that thing actually never happened, haha! Something is not reduced to a construct just because someone can lie about it. How does being able to successfully lie about virginity make it not a thing? If I lied and said I'm not a virgin, that doesn't make me not a virgin. WTF are you talking about?
@BrianMerritt lol I dunno why you keep @ ing me it wasn't MY point it was Volvagia's lol
@VonDamme Why are you supplementing what she's saying if you don't know understand what she's saying?
@BrianMerritt I told you what I thought she was trying to say, then she said that I was right that's what she's trying to say. You asked something and I explained it again since I apparently interpreted it correctly last time, but you're asking me why and THAT I don't know.
Once again no one said that it never happened. Just that no matter if it did or not there's no evidence one way or another. No real difference. It's just that if you can't even tell the difference then why does it matter?
@BrianMerritt I don't really know why I asked... I don't really care. Virginity doesn't matter to me one way or another. I'm just awake, and you respond.
@BrianMerritt
its a construct cuz
1. you can't prove it
2. it isn't tangible or physical, it is a CONCEPT constructed by humans
3. sticking a penis into a vagina is sexual intercourse, that's not "virginity"
4. What is defined as "virginity" is subjective, there is no universal standard as to what makes someone a virgin or not
@Volvagia
1. Again, that makes no difference.
2. Again, it's a descriptive term.
3. I didn't say intercourse was virginity, I said that having intercourse = no longer being in a virgin state.
4. No, most people can agree as to what's a sexual act and what's not.
You have no idea what you are saying. You almost entirely wrong about these 4 things.
@Volvagia According to you, there is no such thing as rape.
1. You cannot prove that an act of rape was done using any means that cannot also be used to prove that a consensual sexual act was done (which, again, does not matter because lack of proof that something happened does not mean that thing did not happen.)
2. The act of rape is not physical or tangible in any way that consensual sex isn't also (again, virgin is a descriptive term. The word "virgin" describes a person as not having had sexual intercourse before. Just like the word "pacifist" describes a person who has never killed anyone before. If you can't understand this concept you are just dumb)
3. Sticking a penis into a vagina without permission is 100% rape.
4. People debate what is considered rape all the time. That doesn't mean it does not exist, because there are still some very thick lines that people have definitely agreed on.
@BrianMerritt
1. how does that make no difference? You can't prove someone is a virgin or is non-virgin which is more specifically a point that highlights the flawed nature of the concept
2. its a descriptive term okay... how does that disprove what I said about it being a concept?
3. ok but that's just YOUR definition of what it means to lose virginity... moving onto #4
4. No they really can't. What's classifies as losing virginity? For some people it's only PiV sex, for others if you've given a blowjob you've lost your virginity, whereas some others thinks blowjobs are a part of foreplay. What about lesbians? There is no penis involved there so when are lesbians not considered "virgins" anymore? These are all questions that will receive different answers based on who you ask = subjective
I'm not wrong and I know what i'm talking about.
@BrianMerritt
Regarding your rape example, there is a misunderstanding because Im more so talking about virginity being a flawed social construct and that it doesn't exist in a biological, physical sense like your organs for example. It exists as a concept otherwise I wouldn't be able to talk about virginity in the first place lol? Although I should have clarified that in the beginning, so that was my fault.
@Volvagia Yeah, I know, virginity is a state of being, it's not an actual thing. It's like being happy, or being a smoker, or being an asshole, or being upside-down. Being upside-down is not something you can hold in your hand, but it does exist, because it describes a situation that is very real. It is possible to be in a state of having never had sex, and we call that situation being "virgin."
To say that the actions of a person don't matter is not true. And to say that a descriptive term for those actions is a social construct... not really.
@BrianMerritt You still don't understand.
I already told you why it's a social construct as well as, here's the def'n of social construct:
"A concept or perception of something based on the collective views developed and maintained within a society or social group; a social phenomenon or convention originating within and cultivated by society or a particular social group, as opposed to existing inherently or naturally"
so how does virginity not fall under that definition?
just cuz its a "descriptive term", does not negate what I said.
That's not what I said at, where exactly did I say a person's actions don't matter. You're still missing the point
@Volvagia Is being upside-down a social construct? NO. But it's not a tangible object either. It is a word used to describe a state of being.
Virginity is used to describe a state of being.
Virginity is NOT a perception, it's not a view, it's not a social construct by that definition at ALL.
Now, the VALUE of one's virginity can be considered a social construct. I'll let you say "that's what I meant this whole time" if you want.
I can't believe this conversation has boiled down to me explaining extremely simple things.
@BrianMerritt
You haven't grasped anything I said. I have to go rn but I'll respond to this in a bit.
@Volvagia Except that it is tangible. Hymens exist. Your point of "sometimes they break without intercourse" is true, and everyone knows it. And... what if they don't break? You continually ignore that.
@BrianMerritt
You can see if someone is upside or not smartass but you can't see if someone is a virgin or not. Let me simplify this for you:
"A concept BASED ON the collective views (that view is purity) developed and maintained within a society or social group; a social phenomenon or convention originating within and cultivated by society or a particular social group, as opposed to existing inherently or naturally" Virginity isn't natural, it doesn't exist biologically (hymens aren't evidence either in case u mention that); it is entirely created by society based on a collective view of morality. If it's a state of being like you claim, what about lesbians? You didn't answer this last time so Im asking again. How do lesbians lose their virginity if virginity is defined as "sticking a penis into a vagina"?
I don't understand how you don't understand this.
@Anon-ymous1
It is not, and mind elaborating a little bit cuz you just popped tf outta nowhere
What do you mean "what if they don't break"? If a girl has sex and her hymen doesn't break, does that mean she lost her virginity? cuz according to many cultures out there, that answer is no. The existence of a hymen doesn't inherently prove "virginity"
@Volvagia Oh god... I've enjoyed the discussion between you and Brian so far because in my opinion you're both clearly intelligent people and just have different views. But this random anon... lol here we go...
@VonDamme Thank you! and yeah Ikr? I wasthinking in my head.."wtf r u even talking about" when I saw that
@VonDamme They're both clearly intelligent people? How? She can't spell.
@Volvagia I have no idea what on earth you just said.
@Anon-ymous1 lmao thats cuz im lazy and its easier to write more out since there's a character limit. I don't spell that god awfully that u can't even read what im saying.
@Volvagia Eh, I guess? It's still kind of sloppy, but whatever.
@Volvagia I think the topic in hand got lost while you were arguing here and now you are talking about something else not related to the post.
@Anon-ymous1 idc if u think its sloppy lol
*Yawns, stretches* Yes, well then.
@Anon-ymous1 lmao u clearly have nothing important to say so y bother responding?
I could ask the same of you.
@Anon-ymous1 well you gave me your input as to why you think "virginity" is tangible, I provided a relevant response and you chose to ignore that and attack my spelling so I don't know man, ur not giving me anything to work with here.
@Volvagia Well you said that it's not tangible, and it is, because the hymen is a real, tangible thing, and my point was simply that yes it's true that it *can* break by means other than sex like playing sports or whatever, and therefore you wouldn't have any physical indicator of a girl's vaginal virginity, but if it *doesn't* break, then that would mean she's a virgin. And somehow you seemed to have an issue of some kind with that which I wasn't really clear on.
@Anon-ymous1 Okay but there are girls who have sex (like PiV sex) where they're penetrated but their hymen doesn't break. Having vaginal intercourse doesn't guarantee a girls hymen will break, that's a myth. So you can't automatically assume a girl is a virgin simply because her hymen is intact - hence why hymens are not concrete proof of virginity nor does the existence of hymens mean that "virginity" is tangible, it's still a construct.
@Volvagia Question if loosing a virginty has nothing to do with the hymen being torn. How can you tell if a woman is a virgin still even if her hymen is being torn by other methods.
I never said hymens have absolutely nothing to do with virginity, I'm saying hymens are not reliable in indicating virginity nor should it be considered as evidence because of how unreliable it is. There is no 100% method in knowing that unless you ask her lol
@Volvagia Yes, they do break from sex. Have you... ever had sex?
And technically, EVERYthing is a "construct" (I assume you mean social construct), including the very words we are using right here and now, so that isn't exactly a meaningful or substantive criticism that makes any kind of sense. Unless you just want to stop using or talking about all social constructs, since you don't like them, which means you should probably both stop talking ever, and like never wear clothes, or use silverware, or anything.
@Anon-ymous1 lol why must u misunderstand everything I said like i know my spelling is shit but come on, this is ridiculous
Having sex CAN tear/break your hymen but that's NOT always the case hence the existence of women who have had sex yet they have intact hymens. To assume that hymens always break after intercourse is a myth:
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1113684/
which is why it's not a RELIABLE indicator of virginity so to say that virginity is physical/tangible/material/biological etc. due to the existence of hymens is false.
Everything is not a social construct and I don't hate social constructs (but nice assumption on ur part), the only reason y I keep insisting that it was a social construct cuz u & that other dude keep insisting it's not a construct/concept despite me proving that it is. I've already tried to explain it as clearly as I can, if you still don't get it... that onus is on you.
@Volvagia... Huh? I can only speak for me. I didn't insist it's not a social construct-- you straight up just saw me say that technically everything is a social construct. Including language and everything else.
So, that study you posted-- how do I actually read it? There's only the summary. By the way, "not necessarily" is an implication for "usually is," but correct, not *always.* I stand somewhat? corrected. So again, where is the actual study? The PDF also does not have it. It just routes back to the summary. Have you read it?
@Anon-ymous1 Some people consider ANY sexual act to be a loss of virginity. Etymologically, the word virgin just means "sexually inexperienced" meaning that any sexual act, meaning a deliberate act involving 2 people and their genitals, means a person is no longer a virgin. You could definitely argue that 2 lesbians are no longer virgins, since they are having sex. You could argue that a girl who let herself get fingered is no longer a virgin.
And again, sexual morals are largely a social construct.
I think you unable to properly WORD what you are trying to say, and so I'll repeat myself.
I think you are trying to say, and I've already said this, that the value we place on sexual morals is a social construct. Yes, that is true. Chimpanzees rape and hump each other and stick their penises into the mouths of frogs (look it up on YouTube, I'm not making that up).
But when you say that virginity is a social construct... no it's not. Loss of virginity is an action, it is totally real.
@BrianMerritt I dont think if a lady gave oral it means she i son longer a virgin
Jeez... I just wanna know why this is so serious... Why do people seriously care about this? I really don't see the point. You can't know someone's character or someone's worth or whatever based on the sexual acts they did or did not participate in. Who cares? Seriously. For what?
@VonDamme Because.
@Anon-ymous1 Not much of an answer luv.
@VonDamme If you were a guy you'd understand.
@Anon-ymous1 lol OK sure.
@BrianMerritt Morality and the value regarding virginity are all concepts ya ur right about that but so is virginity in of itself (which for some reason u can’t wrap ur head around) cuz it was a concept constructed by humans based on a natural, biological act which is sex. According to wiki, etymologically, it traditionally refers to “a sexually intact young woman” and the definition has expanded and isn’t concrete allowing it to become subjective. Just cuz “losing your virginity” is an action – that action being sex – doesn’t negate the fact that “virginity” is still a construct cuz again it’s a concept created by humans. Chimps or any other species besides humans aren’t called “virgins”, virginity isn't a thing in any other species asides from humans, it doesn’t exist naturally like trees or some shit. It’s founded by humans like how marriage is a social construct– as it belongs under "concept or idea or notion or institution" created by humans. Jfc
@Volvagia Just a small qustion if the term virginity is all in people head and construct by society. So what is the term men or women can use if they had never had sexual intercourse in theri life?
@Volvagia It's official. I love you
@Volvagia There must be a communication gap between us, or a language barrier, or something, because no matter how many times I repeat myself you keep refuting it. I have no idea what you are disagreeing with. I don't think you are mentally allowing yourself to understand what I'm saying. This is just becoming a waste of time on my part.
You're right, I'm wrong, let's leave it at that.
@kitty71 your question is entirely irrelevant to my point, i'm not arguing that it shouldn't be used.
@BrianMerritt you don't think I'm wasting my time here? Lol if you were able to understand such a simple concept, I wouldn't have to repeat the same shit over and over and o v e r again.
@Volvagia You know you are wrong, or you are just very thick.
@BrianMerritt Lol no, you just don't understand the meaning of social construct. Even provided you with a definition, but you didn't grasp any of it. Oh well, can't u help there lol I can only do so much
Christ this is never ending...
@VonDamme lel k ill fuck off now
@Volvagia lol it's ceertainly not just you
Historically it's about controlling women. A concept we seem to be moving back towards.
Cuz she’s the one who carries the kid
Things that are rare are often most sought after
Religion, fetishes, society... many reasons.
And principles. You left out that.
How can virginity be a fetish? WTF? That's a very normal turn-on.
@BrianMerritt how is virginity a turn on?
@watisgoingon Men like to go where no man has gone before. And she won't be subconsciously comparing him to all the dicks she's had before. And there is less pressure to perform, since men are under a lot of pressure to be "good" at sex.
Cuz tight pussy
Vagina tightness does not change due to sex.
Yeah but for some reason guys don't know that
@wolfcat87 Sure.
Maybe because of religion...
i also believe it works the other way around
Puritanical misogynist bullshit.
So you know they're not clapped bruv
I think it's an insecurity on the guys part
What insecurity? a girl whos not a virgin will want an experienced guy with a big dick. Some guys are just better off going for virgins
It's all an insecurity on the guys part to want a virgin.
It's a ego booster for them to not have their dick compared to another.
Especially if they're insecure about their dick size. women wanting an experienced guy is not an insecurity. its a learning experience
no guy wants to be told he's shit in bed and has a small dick, no ego booster here.
You proved my point. insecure
Do you want to be told you too ugly and fat by some supermodel guy, no. Its simply not wasting your time with chicks you know you can't satisfy no insecurity here just wise decision making
You're not making any sense.
Most likely a troll. blocked
Really can't understand why.
Why should a girl lose it before marriage?
one time event of importance to penetrator
Have u ever taken any1s
Because No hymen= No diamond ring.
Well what if she fingers herselfs, girls can't masturbate now?
No..
In my part of the world it's a religious thing
Because of culture and religion
Cause men are creepy fucks.
I wouldn't give mine up for free.
