When Benjamin Glaze, at the time a 19-year-old cashier from Enid, Okla., auditioned for “American Idol,” he had hoped his big moment would come as he belted out “Stadium,” a song he wrote himself. That or Nick Jonas’s 2015 single “Levels.”
Instead, it came when the popstar Katy Perry, a judge on the show, surprised him by kissing him smack on the lips, moments before his audition. He had never been kissed before.
“I was a tad bit uncomfortable,” Mr. Glaze said by phone this week, after the incident aired on the season premiere. His first kiss was a rite of passage he had been putting off with consideration. “I wanted to save it for my first relationship,” he said. “I wanted it to be special.”
“Would I have done it if she said, ‘Would you kiss me?’ No, I would have said no,” he said. “I know a lot of guys would be like, ‘Heck yeah!’ But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special.”
If the situation was reversed. Wouldn't there have been a big uproar of lack of consent and respect towards women? Also, how come as a society, we don't seem to care about male rape or sexual assault against men by women?

It's atrocious how as a society we completely ignore mens consent. When men are assaulted or raped, it's ignored or laughed off by the very people who are supposed to be there to support them.
The sheer amount of stories you can find of men getting drunk, refusing sex, blacking out, and then waking up being taken advantage of is insane. And it rarely ever goes to court because 1) our court system holds the very same slanted bias that we're talking about. 2) These instances rarely get reported because we're so ingrained with the idea that male consent isn't a thing. "Men always want it"
It's fucking disgusting, and I hope to eventually see the day where the double standard dies.
This is FAR deeper & long term an assault on men than just touching kissing. Just one example for now, even captured in the movies, this female ploy.

Many people whom i’ve talked to about this topic seem to be either careless or don’t think about it. Men get sexually assaulted and raped too, but it seems that we only pay attention to the women who are victims. I’ve heard stories of police LAUGHING at men that say they were raped or sexually assulted, which makes me sick. Just because that’s a guy doesn’t mean he didn’t want it. Just because that’s a guy doesn’t mean that he can’t be a victim of these things. It’s horrible to think people laugh at male victims...

As for Katy Perry, she’s an asshole. What she did was disgusting but there is obviously a big uproar about what she did? There’s newspapers writing about it calling her disgusting for it.
Men don’t typically react unfavorable when attractive women touch them, only when unattractive women do. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that this guys reaction is very, extremely rare among the opinion of most men. However, I do think Katy should apologize.
I will say though that I’m glad this discussion is being had. I’m done with the machismo that I hear from men that men aren’t sexually harassed or assaulted by women. That men “should be able to handle women.”
We do, unfortunately it's either a male who thinks it's a joke that we have to report it to. I was molested at a job about eight years back, I reported it and my supervisor responded with "You should have given it to her, what are you a fag?" This was a 60 year old black male, so yes it's very much "the Old Generation still fucking things up". Hell if you're unlucky and your boss is a female and very much feminist you could have charges of molestation and rape brought against you. That also happened, I luckily proved my innocence in court and both the woman and my ex boss were charged and jailed but that doesn't happen very often.
It doesn't, but it's because things are inequal with how masculine values and female values are regarded. It's because male values are ranked higher and men are expected to be stronger, tougher, unfazed, always want sex, that they can't be vulnerable and it's internalized. Sometimes values being seen better can also be a burden which is why, even though masculine values are ranked higher there's the burden as a result that women don't deal and double standard. For this to be fixed is for male and female values to be equal, so men can put themselves in emotional straight jackets and society doesn't place it on men to always have to be invulnerable and if they are, they are weak, .
Poor kid , he seem to be inocent and sweet and yeah most guys would be happy but I think that really threw him off before his audition. But damn from what I have seen Katy has been going in hard for those male contestants and they keep playing it off for laughs. I don’t think it’s cute or funny because there is a power difference and she is a judge ! She should do her job and date someone of her status or some rando instead of pursuing the contestants to this extreme.
It is assumed that men consent to any kind of sexual interaction, particularly if the female is attractive. This is even assumed of teenage boys when the female in question is much older. These assumptions are bullshit. It doesn't matter whether 100 men give consent after the fact, the one that doesn't is enough for the issue to be taken seriously. The fact is that you cannot assume that which hasn't been made explicit. That's how sexual assault happens.

Exactly! Have you been to Australia? I was raised there and kissing on the lips is a common greeting there... I used to kiss all my friends on the lips every day (both guys and girls).
