My Opinion:
I'm skeptical to this. I think being a vegetarian or a vegan should be a choice, not mandatory. I'm pro-freedom to eat meat. (Started this discussion just for fun)
This is why I support the 2nd Amendment.
The world is overflowing with crazy assholes who think it's their job to control everybody and everything because they know what's best. These people are a never ending plague on the species, and if you don't have a gun to threaten them with, they'd walk all over you, tell you what to do and where to do it at, and there'd be nothing you could do to defend yourself. The only reason these fucking cunts leave other people alone is because some of the other people are armed and willing to blow their brains out. That's the only reason these control freaks stay in their own goddamned homes and mind their own fucking business.
Anybody who wants to take our guns away is just clearing a path for some asshole to come along and start dictating to people and deciding who can eat what. I think not only should we be allowed to own guns, we should be allowed to shoot people who try to control what other people eat. Maybe not KILL them, but we should certainly be allowed to wound them, shoot them in the leg or something.
Violence, and quite extreme violence at that, is really the only language such people understand. Some of them are so compulsive in their domineering, controlling behavior that just one shot may not be enough, and you may have to shoot them multiple times before they stop being a fucking cunt.
I am against prohibiting meat BUT I have no problem with passing very strict animal protection laws that effectively make meat a luxury product. That's basically how it is in my country. I enjoy eating meat but I want to be sure that the animal I'm eating had a very happy life (no mass farming) and that it was killed in a humane way. And I'm willing to pay extra for that (I could buy cheaper meat that was imported but I don't because I oppose the way farm animals get treated in most other countries).
What individuals eat should be none of the government's concern. Banning the consumption of meat seems problematic; why should offenders be sanctioned, for instance, sentences in jail for exercising a personal choice?
The ban on meat consumption presents a detriment to the existing and flourishing economy contributed by the growth of industries producing meat, to begin with. Such mandate would ensue to (1) the prospects of farms being defunct, (2) unemployment of workers who raise chickens, pigs, cows, etc., and (3) an undernourished populace that would resort to other sources of nutrients against their will.
Should meat be banned? No.
Should its amount be restricted? No.
I don't believe we should regulate people's freedom of choice and ability to control their diet (good or bad).
However, I do believe that we need to treat our livestock animals better, and make more rigorous laws in their care and processing.
I also feel we need to better educate the general public on food waste (along with better ways of reducing food waste, such as donating unused food to homeless shelters for example) and healthy dietary habits.

i think there should be restrictions and regulations on production processes. but i don't think it should be illegal at all
No people should eat whatever they want. Humans are not the only species to eat meat. If people say it's inhumane because they are also living beings, plants are also living beings. It's called survival of the fittest.
I haven't been convinced that it should be illegal.
I don't see the harm in limiting the amount of animal products a single person could consume. Considering that animal agriculture is the number one most environmentally destructive industry on the planet, it's not entirely inconceivable that putting a cap on how much is consumed could be a method to combat climate change and the preservation of our planet. I feel that ensuring our planet is livable for future generations is more important than having barbecues every other weekend and eating animals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Maybe even putting a tax on animal products the way they tax other harmful substances, like cigarettes or a carbon tax. Besides, a shift towards a plant-based diet is much healthier for human beings anyway which would reduce health expenses that the government has to pay into, meaning we could put more of our tax dollars towards other purposes. Not only that, but 87% of all starving people in the world live in countries where they can't afford food because their governments prefer to sell it to Western countries to feed livestock which we then eat. The planet can only sustain 9-10 billion people before mass starvation becomes an issue due to the lack of space to produce food, which is a population we're fast approaching, yet this number is only possible if we all become more plant-based in our eating habits. If we don't, then mass starvation will become a major issue much sooner than it needs to be. Actually, considering all of this, it probably will happen. China's already done it and if I'm not mistaken, there are some politicians in Italy and Israel pushing for this as well. The UN is already recommending this to world governments, China was just the first to actually do it.
People who suggest that eating meat isn't environmentally friendly are ignorant. Farming practices could improve, for sure. But not everyone chooses farmed meats. A lot of people still hunt, fish and trap their own prey for sustenance.
People who say eating meat is inhumane are also ignorant. Industrial farm slaughter practices are horrific by any moral standard. Again, most hunters are conscientious. They're not going out there to torture or maim living creatures for fun or sport. They're going for the fastest, most painless kill possible. Most people who suggest otherwise have never hunted or even watched hunting done right. So they automatically assume all hunters are monsters.
In the end, there's simply not enough healthy land left on the face of the planet to feed everyone if the entire planet converted to vegan or even vegetarian. That line of thinking is exceedingly ignorant. Every other creature on this planet finds a natural symbiosis within its own ecosystem. Humans can too, with some forethought and consideration.
I'm all about freedom. If you don't want your freedoms taken away from you, stop trying to take mine away from me.
Humans at least now are not made not to eat meat, are systems are build to need meat to live
Beside that some animals are not so many, that if you just stop and let them out, you likely to give them a worst death then what they get in becoming food
I think if humans are really able to find maybe a deffrent way to live without the need to get really messy hard to get, hard to make, expensive, and maybe not all that heath stuff to survive, then sure, maybe it be good.
But it needs to be done with the right research and not just jumping on it
Beside that some people don't have much to eat beside that, and suffer from taste of some things others are fine with (Me for example that honestly can't stand the taste of most vegs)
So in short No, as long as the human body is not ready for it, and the entire world is not set for it
Meat should be restricted and there should be higher taxes on meat. We can’t outright ban it because most people would have fit. Many people in the comments seem to have this mentality of “No, it shouldn’t be restricted, it’s my choice to eat meat.” but really it isn’t, what makes it your choice to kill animals? These animals didn’t have a choice, they were taken from their families, kept in horrible conditions, and then slaughtered for peoples appetites. Why should you get to choose to eat meat but they don’t have the option to choose to live?
Umm. Animaps aren't humans. They don't have our rights, because they're not us. But i do have the right. I could go out anf buy a burger and be perfectly fine. Hell i could buy hundreds and be fine withen the law.
animals* and*
Chosen D, as I regard animals on the same level* as humans.
Level - the same right to live as humans...
That's mean if we would move back to 'prehistoric' times and we would be struggling to survive, definitely YES, you kill to eat to move on.
Nowadays, you have so many products to eat, you don't have to kill to survive. Simple... but if you want this hen, fish, rabbit, you have to kill it with your own hands... I'm sure half of the people would end up as vegetarians (interesting question to ask by the way ;))
I'd rather not have pills or depression as a part of my meal.
@TGFH-Satan? what do you mean?
@TheUglyMonk Who are they?
The majority of the world. You should know that in most poor countries all over the world people are used to seeing animals being killed in front of them so have no issue killing it themselves.
@TheUglyMonk what's the context? it happens also in wealthy countries, that kids are brought up like that on farms... I meant city/town people more, who take the meat from the shop shelves
and some even don't know what animal is it from...
@Pamina She got downvoted from all those people probably because she regards humans and animals as equals.
@TheUglyMonk Well, but she even clarified what she meant by it. That she thinks they have a right to live as well, not that she thinks they are equal to us.
@Pamina You asked why, I answered to the best of my knowledge. I wouldn't know the exact reason as to why they would downvote her.
Yes I think @TheUglyMonk is right. I don't care about down votes.
There is this thing called protien dificiency. And sometimes people can also get depression due to lack of amino acids in the brain. Eating meat is healthier then no meat. It has been proven that humans are supposed to be consuming it because are teeth are designed to chew through meat, if we herbivores we would like that of a grass eating cow with four stomachs and our ancestors have been eating meat as 60%of their diet of 10, 000 years. Why stop now?
The province of Alberta in Canada (where I grew up and all my family live) has already put a “sin tax” on meat because “it causes cancer”. It’s so stupid. They even have sin taxes on alcohol, tobacco, sugar and anything with fat because it’s all “bad for you”.
That is why I moved to British Columbia. They don’t tax unnecessary things like that.
really alberta has tht?
thts why ontario is the best
Yeah back in December when I was visiting my parents, on the news it said the government was planning on adding a sin tax to meat. But also Ontario is not that much better than BC lol
ontario is the best province in Canada
some people just fail to understand
I’ve always been a west coaster and never been east so I wouldn’t know anyway
yeah prolly why
We do have extremely low taxe rates in Alberta though so I'm not complaining. The meat tax still didn't happen and it won't happen.
No! Humans have been eating meat for centuries, ever since the beginning of time actually. So why try and ban it now? Humans are omnivores, meaning they eat from both meat and plants. We are not herbivores, and the government can't force everybody on the planet to be a herbivore either.
Plus, banning people from eating meat inevitably entails a lot of medical problems for many people.
my neigbours sister yelled top of her lungs as I was about to be getting some.. I am an animal afteralll we have been "raping" for centures. why stop it now right? since the beggining of time actually. so why try to ban it now? humans have DIKS, meaning they can and should fuk. we are not bacterias or sum sht! and goverment can't force erybdy on the planet to always handjob either.
I literally, not a joke at all, don't eat fruit or vegetables. I know I sound like a child (which I am) but I really cannot stand the taste and texture of fruits and vegetables.
@BlackPanther16 MY BRO who likes brussl sprouts they're terrible. but don't you like all types of breads, burger buns, fries, oreos , chips, pasta, a homecooked curry or something over rice, burritos, cheseless pizza, garlic bread, sorbe... all the foods you eat /without flesh, egg, or milk produts in it. there're alternatives. (watch the documentary - earthlings - its free on youtube z)
@BlackPanther16 That's sort of like me except I love fruits, except for bananas. I fucking hate bananas. As for vegetables I'm very picky about vegetables the only vegetables I'll eat are, carrots, ONLY canned green beans, celery, and Salad. Bell peppers, broccoli brussel sprouts, Asparagus, Squash make me want to die. If I was ever forced to eat any of those things to live, I would jump off the nearest building. I'm not even exaggerating.😷🤢
Jesus Christ. No. Humans have been eating meat.. what.. since like forever?
It’s completely unnecessary to make meat illegal if everyone is already prone to eating it.
And for those who say it’s unnatural then why do animals eat meat? We didn’t force them to? They did it on their own.
So no it’s not “unnatural”
jeeszzzz no humans have been raping.. what.. since forever?
Its ompletely unnecessary to to make illegal if already everyone prone to jakin off.
and those who say unnatural they why animals do it? we didn't force them to?
They did on their own.
so its not "unnatural"
Since when did I bring up rape into my statement? I didn’t.
you can't say its ok to do just because animals do it. it's wrong. I want you to do something so easy to do: go to youtube, watch Earthlings. (its free) then tell me what ever you want. but just watch it. I watched it. and I was like Why I didn't knew his before? I wished I knew that before. just watch it, if you still wanna do, GREAT if you dont feel guilty DON'T FEEL GUİLTY
I didn’t say it’s okay just because animals do it. I’m saying it’s natural. We eat meat. “Ooouu spooky”
Animals in the wild kill they’re prey to survive in the wild. Humans have a more relaxed choice of whether they want to eat meat or not but to completely ban meat is irrelevant. If you don’t want to eat it., cool. I don’t care. But humans have the right of choice to pick that. Not you. Or anyone. Period. Except themselves. So for you to understand that is hmm quite impossible because your so distinctly strong with your vegan shit or whatever you do. But you can’t shame others for it. Because. We are human. We. Eat. Meat.
dont avoid what I say watch the free documentay; named EARTHLINGS (its free , Then and only then talk, please )
I don’t need a sad story of what happens to the animals we eat. I’m not dumb to not realize that it’s sad af. But. Like I said. Humans are humans. You can’t force someone to stop eating meat especially if it’s been around this long.
get sum popcorn and watch. you can take off headphones and close ur eyes sis. I was 16 when I watched it. what can you lose? it isn't just a sad story (if you dont want too graphic content, instead you can watch - Best speech by gary yourofsky - on youtube he explains and just talks)
Humans are omnivores and do not do as well without some meat in their diet. The is an argument to be had that it is inhumane against animals. I personally am not greatly concerned.
It is illegal in my country to kill animals for normal people. Registered rendering plants only are allowed to do this.
One because meat gives us protein and other things that we need in our body. Yes there are pills out there to help with those but it isn't the same to me. Rationizing wouldn't make sense as everyone has different dietary needs and cravings. I love meat I eat one kind of it almost every day.
Like with most issues, I don't think making something mandatory would be a working solution. People simply would not put up with it.
The only thing that would work in the long run is if people's mindsets change about this. It's a very slow but steady process.
Why should we stop eating meat when we are omnivores? Ill agree with how the mass production of meats is animal abuse but one thing i want to do is have a pet pig, feed and raise it right to slaughter it for the best tasting pork when the pig is in its prime.
We are omnivores and to be healthy you need to eat meat in balance with everything else.
Meat contains Vitamin B12, which is the only way to get it outside of a B12 vitamin. The issue isn't the meat, it's the gases the animals cause; Which is a response to our growing population. A child limit would be more effective without limiting food sources.
in my opinion it's not even viable even if the government and its people, we're omnivorous first off and require nutrients that are found only in their respective areas and buying those supplements that provide them is not a luxury everyone can afford. Second off there's been a survey that food produce worldwide is trying hard to cope with the ever increasing population and demand and banning meat will only aggravate the situation.
No. Humans are made to be omnivores, and should have a choice in the matter. Also some countries would not be able to feed themselves if exclusively restricted to plant matter, as vegetables etc. require good soils, which are in limited (and decreasing) supply.
This question is stupid. We are fucking omnivores. We are supposed to eat meat. Wether you want to is your own choice.
