I personally think there are many reasons for eating meat, but there is also an enviormental aspect.
What would you biggest reason for eating meat be? For and against.
Ethics/allowable/etc. Yes. God gave mankind dominion over all other living things on the Earth.
Reasons- Critical reason to eat meat- Meats have all the essential amino acids. Your body can make several amino acids, but some it cannot and THEY MUST be consumed in foods or, for some people, in supplements. These are called essential amino acids, and single types of plants just don't have them all. This is why there are dishes such as rice and bean jambalaya, and refried pinto beans on corn tortillas, and rice and black beans. The rice and corn have part of the essentials , and the beans/lentils/legumes have another part of the essentials. But both must be eaten simultaneously for the body to be able to use either! With meats and other animal foods such as eggs, all essential amino acids are there!
Environmental aspect - We have been told that on a pound for pound basis, cattle cost more in grain and feed than other meats such as pork or chicken. It isn't quite that simple, since there are trade-off byproducts that can be reused on the farm to make-up some of that difference. Yes, on the bottom line, it does cost more to get a pound of beef than a pound of chicken, and still a bit more than pork. That's life. It also costs more to get a pound of gold than a pound of silver. That is also life!
What the environmentalists seldom mention is that the use of corn as a source of fuel ethanol is running neck-and-neck with its use as animal feeds, and even surpassing them in some years. So in essence, we are using corn less and less for its most logical husbandry uses, when other bio-organics could be easily used as feedstocks to brew fuels. Cattle can also be grass-fed, or grass-fed and then "corn-finished", a type of compromise in animal husbandry.
It's a normal thing. It's more of a balance. I'm an omnivore and if it's not natural, we all evolved to eat meat and even evolved to like the taste of it so we can't blame anyone if meat just really taste good. And yes it's a great source of protein as well. Why do we have to stuff ourselves with soy, beans and peas when we can just have meat? There are also vegetable parts that are not even edible to humans like husks, peelings, leaves, spoiled/abnormal vegetables and other stuff that would be a waste if thrown away. While they're good fertilizers, you don't use many of them. That's why they are fed to animals we eat. And another thing would be, not all soil in this world makes a good agricultural field before you say meat farm would really take up most our land that could've make more food for people. But lets pretend we don't have to feed those inedible to farm animals. Throw it in the wilds? Sure the wild version of our farm animals can eat those but what happens if you just leave them alone? They can populate, they're only gonna get eaten by predators and if predators have so many food, they're also gonna populate until you'll see them roaming around the city becoming the new pests and threat of our civilization. And it would make no difference if you kill them as a pest control and i'm not just talking about the predators. Those farm animals can become pests eating our garbage.
It's not ethical in the way we raise animals just to slaughter them. People will fight over and over again how natural it is for humans to eat meat but it's just not natural with how we do it in our modern world. People could easily choose to be vegetarian/vegan but they won't because of selfish reasons. I ain't gonna fight them either cause most of them are so hardheaded that there is no getting through to them.
Anyone can also say people easily have the choice to be carnivorous but they won't because of selfish reasons. You know, that's a straw man argument. When we omnivorous have no problems with you being a vegan, you're making our nature a big deal and call us hard headed? More like you're like you're just a supremacist when it comes to that. Of course no one would know unless you open your mouth. Also after all, people who eat meat don't only eat meat. A lot of meat eater eat more vegetables than meat. Have you ever thought of that?
@Aiko_E_Lara almost every person who eats meat has a problem with vegans
Maybe it's how those vegans speak their minds. It's not the practice itself they care about.
@Aiko_E_Lara that isn't what I've noticed. It's more people saying it's unhealthy and unnatural to be vegan. I usually keep it on the down low that I'm vegan just so I won't be judged
Well sure they're those people who can't speak for themselves. But at this point, you're just sounding like those people you hated, generalizing.
@Aiko_E_Lara I'm not one to fight the issue with anyone. Obviously I'll say how I feel here since it's online and no one cares but in person it's not something that even gets brought up
Which is exactly why I also have a rights to speak up about your flawed argument.
@Aiko_E_Lara it's not flawed it's just what I believe
Beliefs don't really prove anything so depending so much on your belief just brings out the close mindedness in you. It's the same with some people say terrorism is good and people deserve to die. But yeah that's just a belief. But we're not excusing anyone who acts on it. So yeah that's the flaw of being so comfortable with beliefs.
@Aiko_E_Lara well exactly though. No one's beliefs can actually be right or wrong. It's all a matter of opinion.
That would be more of an argument than an opinion actually. There's a difference. An opinion is usually defined as a belief or view held by an individual. The most important distinction is that an argument is a coherent, logical set of reasons that support an overall judgement or assessment. Something controversial like that attacking anyone is not just an opinion. It's not different if i just say vegans are snowflakes, you're BS. And in the end, i can just say "that's just my opinion" But that's just an example. While my opinion is neither wrong or right, my action would be unethical and it's not a matter of opinion.
I'm for regulating the meat industry. Like seriously they need to be making sure the animals aren't getting sick cramped in dirty cages before they're slaughtered. And want quick euthanizations of animals for pain free deaths. But also I enjoy meat. It's natural. It's part of nature and nature isn't always pretty. It just needs to be regulated.

If not then lions, tigers, cheetahs, jaguars, leopards, alligators, crocodiles, dogs, cats, hyenas, owls, falcons, hawks, eagles, sharks, jellyfish... practically every fish in the ocean, bears, lynx, mongoose, fox, wolves, weasels, dolphins, whales, squid, walrus and many others... they are unethical too.
At least we usually kill them first.
Dude you should see those videos of lions eating a warthog alive while it is still screaming or crocodile each grabbing onto a live animal and ripping it apart while alive.
Not only is ethical, it is natural. Some creatures eat meat, others eat plants, others eat anything. We are of the latter category.
Amy problems caused by eating meat is not because of the act itself, but because of other factors related to it.
For example, the excessive amount of humans living at the moment create the need for lots of meat for consumption, which is obtained by breeding lots of livestock to meet the demand. Such amount of livestock use a lot of resources and produce a lot of waste (the most known would be the methane has from cows).
So, eating meat is not the problem, but the number of people alive, which need to eat meat.
There are a lot of opinions nowadays about whether you choose or not. I think if you like then yes if not then don't eat it. If it is ethical or not I don't know but people have been doing it for centuries it's just how we survive and we need different nutrients that come from meat. As for the environmental aspect i wouldn't be that bothered. If you take a look at what china produces in terms of pollution to people who drive cars that are old, big and consume too much petrol that it's completely useless since only one driving. Then you understand that eating meat it's probably not going to affect much. Environmental problems is a rich countries problem because they have everything. In poor countries they are trying to survive and don't care about that
I believe it is as God gave us earth to look after and live on and part of survival is food so God invented the food chain allowing us to have meat and all the weird and wonderful foods he gave us.
However if our food has been reared badly it doesn't respect the sanctity of life so I do thi k it's ethical then
No, but I don't think it's unethical either. I don't think ethics apply. It provides nutrients. We're omnivores. We eat meat. Most of us each too much meat, which isn't healthy and we should probably cut back, but eating meat here and there is fine. Still, I'm not a fan of factory farming and think we should put more effort into developing a more humane way to meet the demand for meat without literally torturing animals to do it. Cloned meat is one such possible solution, which is also better for the environment, I'm told. But we're still several years away from that being a viable option, at least.
Lol this stupid ass question. We are omnivores omnis need meat and green we don't eat meat we get sick loose muscle mass have greatly reduced strength and have no energy. No greens and we have kidney problems, heart issues, clogged poopers.
Vegans and vegetarians can go to hell. I like my meat and i dont give a shit hows its made unless it affects taste or nutrients. It not like you can taste the tears of slaughtered for or taste how it died so who cares. Oo boo hoo little baby chicks get thrown into a grinder. I can taste the suffering in this chicken nugget and it tastes fried.
people eat meat only and only for taste.
Protein is bull shit!
We used to eat meat for survival reasons we were traveling around cold environments we don’t need that anymore all meat does is destroy our bodies environments and everything else.
And makes us weak and fat.
That’s why we cook it and add flavors to it, were tricking the body to eat the meat.
No one would ever eat a raw chicken.
However my cat loves raw chicken.
I’m a public speaker I’ve seen people recover from ever sickness only with fresh hair, organic fruits and vegetables and exercise.
Dude please go back to biology 101.
Don't know how u call it in English so I will literally translate it from dutch but we still have fucking slicing teeth. yes they are less sharp then when we lived in the wild but they are still supposed to be used for meat.
And maybe u see someone recover only on fruit and vegetables. But I have seen my little brother almost die because he didn't eat enough meat so fuck off with your bullshit.
We aren't herbivores. We also aren't carnivores. We are omnivores. We are supposed to keep a balance between meat, fruit and vegetables and to be fair I never seen a vegan live long enough to reach 80 and never seen one that looked healthy at all
Please do some research on chronic b12 shortage some People have it from birth like me and my litle brother and all of my sisters it's a genetic thing. Others get it when they reach about 80 years old if they are Lucky they never get it. But 9/10 vegans get it too and that is Just because they don't eat meat and a b12 shortage ain't no joke when get sick from it you Just slowly start dying.
And the protein stuff meat is still the best provider.
No you have no idea what the fuck you’re talking about you keep yapping and people who like to talk a lot usually are most stupidest people in the world who sleep one said the most dangerous people in the room I love the most to yup otherwise will listen and observe that’s something I think you have lacking.
I didn’t see some recovery. I saw 100% recovery from everything.
If whatever bull shit you’re saying your pussifed body is lacking? Try eating it in the raw forms
You have Low to no teachable index and you have no willingness to change, that’s why you love talking, and no matter what someone says you’re ready like a missile to attack back! Usually people from Canada and California are clowns like this. They just talk a lot of bull shut! you are the two combinations of the worst people I want in my audience,
Yaaah okay... that’s why I’ve got 98% results from my clients, and companies referred me to other companies people and events schools and etc. because I’m such a moron I know nothing and what I preach is total bullshit yeah.. now click on reply ignore everything I’ve said and type me a 64 page for shit
Cyclopedia!! I’ve already sized you up. Anyways I won’t be replying to anymore. Waste of my Breath. Fkin clown!
I Am from the fucking Netherlands so not even close to where you think.
Fun fact: the reason dutch People are the tallest in the world is because our diet consists mostly of chicken, beef and a lot of potatos mixed with a bit of vegetables. We even use the gravy that is created by baking meat in butter to throw over our vegetables. For extra taste.
We have a chart I actually think the
Every country in the world has a version of that chart for us it is called de schijf van 5 (disk of five) it says to be healthy you need everyday: meat, dairy, fruit, vegetables and fish.
And another fun fact: you assuming all those things about me not knowing anything of my background makes you the stupid one.
And another fun fact we dutch are one of the highest rated when it comes to medical, fitness, and healthy diet knowledge.
Our country's economy is also called a knowledge economy.
And yes what you preach is 200% bullshit. But I see I stepped on your Dick. With my comment so one last fun fact:
People that don't eat meat produce more stress hormones and are more likely to get aggressive over something small.
I think I will somee extra meat tonight
@friendzoned4life go eat meat doesn’t bother me. Drinking poison and wanting your enemies to die. Sounds pure logical. Hahaha go live blood test you’ll see how acidic your red and blood cells are. I’ve told you, I know what type of guy you are just ready to yaaap! Blah blah blah the mood is made of cheese blah blah.. fkin clown
I Got my blood tested 2 years ago doctor said it was fucking healthy 😎 and I eat 10 times more meat than vegetables. Wich fucking country are you from you seen braindead oh wait you are vegan that is the cause
@friendzoned4life I told you i sized you up right at the start when you kept yapping. You dont listen you like to talk. I said go take a LIVE BLOOD test, You said I did blood test before. Doctors dont check for what I've told out. I won't bother explaining anything else. Enjoy yourself getting fingered in the a** for those rotten flush you'll enjoy that. You probably wear a mask inside the car alone and while you're swimming.
Dont worry because of people like you Bill gates has bought all the farms in U. S soon the whole and soon he'll be replacing those meats with plastic grinned up meats. Because people won't stop eating meat.
You should enjoy that.
🤣🤣🤣 dude again I live in the fucking Netherlands and no one is taking our meat away not even Billy "pedophile" "vaccins" Gates
by the way I don't wear masks again I have a brain.
I have no other option. I cannot eat sufficient quantities of high protein starches to supply me with needed protein for survival due to diabetes. But I mostly eat fish and fishing is ethical because the fish you kill and eat were hunting other fish to eat when you catch them.
Ethical or not it's perfectly natural to eat meat. It's important that we do for our health. Sure many people live proper lives without it, vegetarians. But humans weren't designed to be vegetarians. We were designed to be omnivores.
If people wanna get all picky and not eat meat because they don't want to harm animals. That's cool. It's nice that they care. But they shouldn't try to force others to stop eating meat.
If the world turned vegetarian, the planet would likely become even more over populated with life.
I'd say it is ethical to eat meat. If it were unethical then it would surely be banned.
if I had to start to question myself this way...
my first question would be... is it ethical at all, they I get to enjoy four meals a day, every single day and without a care, while so many others in this world are dying, daily, of malnourishment...
I've actually thought about it so many times, mostly as a kid... I'm still not sure where "ethical" starts, and where does it end... how much would I have to do (and therefore ignore the rest) till I feel better about myself.
I eat meat because our species evolved to be omnivores. We have teeth and a gut biome that is designed to chew and break down both plants and meat. Also other carnivores and omnivores in nature kill other animals to eat. So yeah I think it's pretty ethical.
Side note I believe they released a study where they reported plants know when they're being cut down/damaged/are being eaten. So if we're talking about ethics you vegetarians and vegans have a lot of explaining to do. 😂
Why would eating something that is a necessity for our survival be unethical. Only meat can provide us with B12 through natural means (aka not requiring supplements). Thus it is part of our diet.
To say meat is unethical is equal to saying nature is unethical.
Now if you want to argue the way we produce meat is unethical - that's a whole different can of worms.
Um no, a decent part of the population is vegetarian and without suppliments.
In the end all vegans have to take the B12 supplements. I as a meat eater have a chronical condition thanks to genetics where I always have a shortage. This is why I say the Day a vegan wants to start taking the B12 supplement that it should Just be legal to kill them cause they choose to be unhealthy others don't.
And even tho I got this condition I can go 2 months without a b12 injection thanks to meat.
@sensible27
Which explains why they are braindead, because B12 is necessary for the brain and it's functions. They are literally killing their brain
I don't know if you're trolling or not but sure..
@sensible27 he ain't trolling. First thing my doctor would ask you if you come in and say you're tired or absent a lot he will is: are you vegan?
If you answer that with yes he will say go eat some meat if you answer that with no he will send you to the hospital to get your blood examined and tested for Iron deficiency B12 will be measured too. I Get an injection every 2 months if I am too late my brain Just starts to work against me
My whole family iss full of doctors,
My dad is a dentist, mom deals with female stuff, orthopedics, opticians, general practitioner.. anything. We have a hospital, plus extended clincics..
So most of them aren't doctors that have to know how the whole body works. Ask the general practitioner (unless he/she is vegan) how b12 works. Not a lot of People know how it works and vegans will deny the facts.
But a extreme shortage of it will make your organs shutdown 1 by 1 they cured my little brother by feeding him lots of meat, banana's from. some reason that has more b12 than any other fruit bit still a lot. less than meat and a few injections a Day until he could live again with one injection a week.
He looked like a fucking simpson (the cartoon) when he was taken in to the hospital his liver was shutting down Just quess what he was eating less of for a pretty short while before that yep. meat
@sensible27
"What happens if I don’t get enough vitamin B12?
Vitamin B12 deficiency causes tiredness, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia. Nerve problems, such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet, can also occur. Other symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency include problems with balance, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and soreness of the mouth or tongue. Vitamin B12 deficiency can damage the nervous system even in people who don’t have anemia, so it is important to treat a deficiency as soon as possible."

@FakeName123 thanks for the source , read my last comment I myself get shakey hands and stuff too but tired is the worst for me cause it happens so randomly
I Got it from genetics but you can get it from going vegan too
Milk get's you b12 and a lot of people drink milk
www.prevention.com/.../
@sensible27
All the foods in that article wich obviously is just a random page and not official research, do not provide enough B12 in normal portions read a random Milk bottle there is almost no b12 in it and then again b12 alone is not enough to get the body to absorb it
Yes, most of these animals would not exist if humans didn't want to eat them. It's not like their lives are all that good, but still better than nothing.
I think we can make eating meat more ethical though through better technology and advancements in science.
I don’t have any problem with eating acceptable meats (cow, pig, turkey etc) in moderation. And I’m sick of these eco extremists and their authoritarianism.
Until safe synthetic meat becomes a thing, these green soy hippies should stop acting like the Gestapo.
Better yet how about these green hippies quit acting like a bunch of misanthropes.
yes it is. meat is a vital part to our dietary health. vegan/vegetarian claims that you can be "as healthy" without meat rely on psoido-science. not eating meat comes with severe health problems even if you're at the cutting edge of nutritional science.
There are many reasons to eat meat something on your tongue forget the name of it the body needs this and with me is one of the things that have it I can't remember the name of it it's on the tip of my tongue LOL and protein
I don't have any problem eating meat and like almost everything, eating too much of any one thing is probably not good for your overall health. Meat is a good source of protein and other nutrients not otherwise readily available in most other foods.
Reason... I like it. Frankly I do not need any further reason nor to rationalize whether or not it is ethical. Besides, my ancestors did not propel me to the top of the food chain for me to bean turds that last like meat. Which frankly baffles me. I mean, why ‘flavor’ a crop to taste like a meat if you do not like meat? Strange...
We are omnivores. Yes we can eat meat even though how many meats are raised and prepared are considered unethical. Meat is part of the human diet. Even though vegetarians find replacements for meats and I don't know what they are or how effective of a replacement it is.
Being a Pagan, I think all life is sacred. No animal will die just to feed me. I have been veggie all my life, and am fit and now healthy after covid.
"No animal will die just to feed me". Many farmers who produce for vegans destroy huge areas of natural forest, divert ponds, etc. to help support the crops and many animals die.
@AGoodGirl8 Start limiting population growth then. Like China used to do. One COUPLE... one child. Won't need to grow so much.
I don't suppose you have heard of ethical farming in US.
Besides, this is off topic. The question is about meat!
@Jessica405 - ethical farming? ROFL. Unless you're farming for yourself sweetie that's a pipe dream they charge naive people more for.
Have fun dying at 60
@johnsmithjs no lol. That is pretty much a myth created by christians to slander them. It's the reason for the reason the culture was wiped out really. Christians kept calling them such things they wasn't. And try to make them seem like thiest satanists as in ones who actually worship the devil. Very much anti semetic views towards pagans there even pagan is just a word that was a insult. It's actaully more of a bad word given to them.
@Kaneki05 My ancestors were pagans (vikings), I actually have manuscripts written by my ancestors that have been in my family for a thousand years. Yes we did sacrifice humans, and animals to the "GODS". I am not a Pagan like my ancestors but I am also not a Christian. And yes my ancestors ate meat. For you to say pagans do not eat meat is not accurate, Vegetarians do not eat meat and Vegans do not use any animal products at all.
@johnsmithjs ah norse is a whole other topic. That's not the pagans i was talking about again pagan wasn't the word for any religion. Just a bad name given to anything they wanted to see as satantic. Wiccian is more the type i was talkinga about. Ethier way they all for sure wasn't vegans and wouldn't care about that.
When one don't realism paganism is to described to literally describe religion that wasn't mainstream and shunned but uses the name pagan as a dumb life style that means nothing to any pagan religion. That seems very counter productive and daft. No wonder i didn't see why been "Pagan" had anything to do with it. It literally don't lol
Paganism is the belief of anything that is not christian. So basically Christians called anyone and anything that did not believe in the "Holy Trinity" as paganism. Now take that and stuff it in Pagan hat, if you aren't christian you be a Pagan.
@johnsmithjs Yeah but what you gotta remember back then it was more used as a slang ageist other religions. And was the motivation to mass genocide cultures do there not mainstream religions. And quite a lot of people just joined religions to be part of the communities even if they didn't believe back then. So it was majorly used to push an agenda ageist those other religions.
@johnsmithjs aye true! Still have no clue why paganism is associated with vegan to these so called modern pagans.
@johnsmithjs I guess but by your account of it's just anything not christian. Then that means the argument of i am Pagan this means this don't actually mean anything unless that person specifics what they actually are? correct?
@johnsmithjs yeah that's why this didn't make much sense to me then what she said.
@johnsmithjs of course sounds great :) Ah so paganism do have religions that's what i meant by it been used ageist religious people. It wasn't used ageist atheists or those that don't believe in such things.
If you believe all life is sacred, what about plants? Don't plant lives matter?
