Guy talking to a girl on the phone while playing video games?

So I don't know if I should be annoyed or just deal with it. I swear half the time we're on the phone he's playing some type of video game on his play station and I can't help but be annoyed a bit. He can't finish one coherent sentence without stopping and saying something about the game or making some war cry. I'm into video games (I mean not as heavily as he is but I still play them) but not when we're on the phone. I know most of you are just gonna say tell him to put the game down when he's talking to you, which I have and I guess he just forgets or something. But one of my other friends said I should be glad he's talking to me in the first place because most guys won't talk to a girl while they're playing or say more than one word to the person they're talking to. So I was like okay should I be thankful he's taking the time to at least talk to me or annoyed?

Well in some online games, you cannot pause so unless he wants to lose (which no real man does), he has to talk with you on the phone and play at the same time.

Well that's the thing he DOES start losing and that's where the war cries come in. So I just tell him, hey why don't you just put the game down so you don't kill your online rating and we can actually TALK. I get that he's competitive, I am too, but talking on the phone and game playing just really doesn't coincide in my opinion.

When most people are playing video games, especially competitive ones. They are irrational if they are forced to get off in the middle of a game. No point starting a senseless argument like this. Just tell him to call you back when he's done.

Alright makes sense. I guess I just didn't want to have to hang up on him because when I tell him that he insists that he can play and talk to me at the same time. I guess hopefully if I do what you suggested he'll get the point to just not talk with me when he's playing, seeing as how that's almost 100% of the time. Don't wanna be bitchy about it, just wanna have a descent conversation with the guy.

I'd never talk on the phone while playing video games. That would tank my kill:death ratio, I can't multitask.
