How many genders do you think there are? I believe there is only 2 genders, either you are born a boy or a girl. And I think the world has just gone to damn pc that now people can choose their gender, in my country, a new law has passed that on government forms you can either put that you are "female", "male" or "describe your gender". Some people even believe you shouldn't refer to your child as male or female until they are old enough to decide what gender they are. But someone that is born with a vagina is female, someone that is born with a penis is male. Any one that disagrees with this, I would love to hear your argument into HOW and WHY there are more than 2 genders..

While technically it would be a valid argument to say that there is no causal link between being a male or female and masculine or feminine, there is a VERY strong correlation link--in such a way that, for all intents and purposes, gender and biological sex are effectively one and the same. Note that I didn't say they are; men can be feminine and women can be masculine. It is politically-correct to say that anyone can be any "gender", but it is NOT PC to say that anyone can operate in any gender role.

The question of gender and gender roles is, in part, predicated on the "operation priority" that each sex is directed by. Another way of saying this is that "essence precedes existence", i. e. a thing operates according to the nature of its function, not according to its functional role. For example, a hammer CAN technically be used to remove screws from wood, but that's not what it was made for and as such it is not very efficient at doing so. A man CAN technically act like a woman, but not BE a woman; they lack the biological functions to be impregnated or carry offspring. No amount of gender transitions, as they current exist, will ever give a man the capability to do such a thing.

Additionally, there is the whole "performative" nature of being a man; a "real (heterosexual) man"--since gay men are still a minority--has to court a woman in some capacity and then convince her to carry his children. Along the way, he must typically work much longer hours than her, engage in masculine behaviors to attract her continued interest (because most women are not ordinarily drawn to effeminate-looking or -acting men) and continue to operate in the masculine character (whether or not this is part of his personality or just a functional necessity to maintain his role as "man" is anyone's guess) in order to be a "real man" to her. In such a way, he could be considered to be an actor on the stage of life and the woman and other people in his life is his audience.

Now, to the more pertinent question of "how many genders are there?"--this is a sort-of ridiculous notion, given everything already established: gender roles exist, mostly because they tend to fulfill the biological imperatives of each sex, relative to the other and themselves. Since we've already established that gender and roles can have a performative element to them, then by extension all of the other genders are simply "performances" of things not typically within the purview of the roles most people are familiar with. For example, according to the Complete List of Genders on Wattpad by JotaroKissesDolphins (https://www. wattpad. com/341462536-complete-list-of-genders-the-complete-list-of-all/page/2; based on whatever credibility this list has, compared to any other), there is something called Affectugender which is described as "A gender affected by mood swings". What do all of these so-called "genders" have in common? They all make prescriptive claims regarding "labels", stating each of them as an observable "lived experience" in contrast to the heterosexual or homosexual one that is most-commonly understood. They also seem to have been written in an effort to cause functional state confusion, conflating interests and desires wholly separate from one's sexual orientation WITH the implication of sexual orientation; in effect, the purpose of these other genders seems to be to render the domain of "things that I like or feel" the same as "things that I am". In a similar vein to how marketing nowadays describes the kind of experience you will have with a certain product instead of selling you what the product actually does, these other genders are sold to you as a "pre-packaged" identity.

Here's why I think people want to believe in more than that though:

1) People are darn dissatisfied with the gender norms for their own gender.
Ex: Women are expected to be shy and submissive people who stay inside the house a lot
Ex: Men are expected to be the gender that loves violence and have no emotions aside from anger and lust.
Well, for the women who are the outdoors type and are outgoing and social, and the men who aren't violent and have more emotions than a rock, some of these people figure that since they don't fit into the gender norms for their own category they'd be better off as the other gender.
Now I'm not saying that everyone who doesn't fit into these gender norms will think of switching genders as an option, but of the people that do (or decide to create an entirely new "gender" to describe themselves), this is one of the reasons.

2) There's better prospects on the other side. Fact of the matter is, in the world today, Men still have better job prospects than Women, and Women have the option of relying on a man. So, another reason that people look to "switch" or "create" genders is because they like the benefits of doing so.
Ex: Women become Men (or another masculine "gender") for opportunities.
Ex: Men become Women (or another feminine "gender") to get away from the pressures of having to support yourself.
Historically speaking, Women "becoming" Men (usually by dressing up as a man and fooling people into thinking they are one) has been far more common than the other way around. In order to escape persecution, gain economic status, or political power, women have "become" men. This includes a certain famous Egyptian Pharaoh as well.
The other way around (Men "becoming" Women) to get away from pressures is a more modern concept, supported mainly by video testimonials I've seen of Men who describe their lives as Transgender Women, either as a current way of life or as a former.

3) They're homosexual. They fit into their gender stereotypes, they like what their own gender has in terms of social benefits, but for whatever reason (usually due to bad experiences, trauma or otherwise with the opposite gender), they're more comfortable with their own gender to the point that they're sexually attracted to them. These kinds of people are usually the ones who say they're "Gender Neutral" or "Pansexual"

I don't believe gender exists at all. I believe what we have described as "gender" has devolved intona synonym for personality. Look at this this way:
If gender is a spectrum then the spectrum starts with male and female and then works everything in between. But that is accepting the idea that gender exists as a binary in the first place. Every gender identity from there on whether recognized or not is influenced by preconceived notions of gender that ultimately many people claim are harmful to begin with. Trans people believe they are the opposite gender but in order to identify as the opposite that implies that there are two. And if a biological male identifies as a female then we must ask ourselves, what is a female? Why do these individuals need to change the way they look (a form of expression) if the whole idea behind femininity and masculinity is a social construct... If gender is a social construct how can an individual identify as either a man or a woman? If wearing a dress, heels, having longer hair and makeup are what make you a woman then we are still using traditionally conceived notions of gender created by old social machinations.
In order to be non binary we must accept there is a natural binary that the individual does not fit into. Ultimately it disproves the idea that gender is a social construct.

Therefore, it is my conclusion that gender does not exist. We as individuals cannot identify as something that does not exist and the only reason we believe it exists is because society had told us too. All of these gender identities regardless of how personal and original are ultimately bound by already determined notions of gender that are being claimed to be harmful and non-existent. The conclusion can only be that there is no gender at all, no spectrum. Trans people don't identify as the wrong gender but the wrong biological sex. Which is different. For those who are intersex it is merely a genetic anomaly. We are all individuals who are either biologically male or female and as individuals we can express ourselves anyway we want. This expression does not indicate a gender identity because that is based on the assumption that gender, supposedly a social construct, exists I the first place.

Ultimately we have individual personalities and expressions which change and evole over time separated from our biological sex. Gender is not what this, for gender is merely another way of saying personality. Let's ditch gender all together and stick to sex.

Biologically there are two sexes. How you express your gender however is different. Gender, like the value of a coin or the rules of a country, is an idea not a thing. Gender is a list of behaviors and mannerisms that are socially typical for people of one sex or the other to adopt as a part of fitting into society. (Ex: wearing certain kinds of clothing or pursuing certain careers and goals)

Modern society has made it much easier and more mainstream for people to do as they please and still be accepted instead of adhering to traditional gender roles. You could say that their gender expression is unique to themselves, in which case there'd be around 8 billion genders, but thats needlessly complicated and pointless. What i think is best if the idea of gender is ceasing to be worth anything, then we stop using it. Like confederate currency that has no value because no one believes it has value, the idea of gender will cease to be meaningful when enough people stop believing it has any meaning. It won't change that humans are born with either a penis or a vagina, but it will make that fact insignificant to how they will live their lives.

Well, there are 4 sexes. Male, Female, Intersex, and Asex i. e. a lack of sex (term made up, but think of the sex of a rock. It does not have one.). This is a fact by the way, Intersex is its own biological sex even if it's a defect, and asex isn't technically a sex, but like, it's essentially the N/A category for sex so you can reasonably count it as one. Sorta the same way that 0 is a number.
Gender is a social reflection of sex, so you got Male, Female, Genderfluid, and Agender right there. So there's at least 4 genders reasonably. Anyone who thinks there is just 2 is just... well kinda dumb, sorry. Science ain't lining up with that.
And then even to get more specific, you could reasonably split up intersex into it's own sexes. Intersex is kinda like a big folder of a lot of different chromosones, xxy, xxx, xyy, etc. There's not a lot of say xxy and xxx and all that, so it makes sense in theory to just group them all in one. But, and a big but, medically you have to treat all of these intersex people different. Like depending on the situation, it could be a big difference health wise depending on whether the person is xxy or xyy. With that in mind, I'm absolutely surprised that intersex hasn't gotten properly split up yet into multiple sexes.
And of course gender would be a reflection of that, so you could reasonably argue there's more than just 4 genders too I suppose, however, personally, I think you can categorize everyone's gender very well in just those 4 main types right there. Like, I see no reason to personally specify the difference between someone who is genderfluid and a demiboy. (A demiboy, to my understanding, is someone who identifies as both, but is more like a guy. )

I believe there are two genders because I believe the term gender is strictly meant to refer to biology, specifically to the presence or lack thereof the Y chromosome. People argue that gender is separate from sex but if that's true, why do we need the discussion at all? If the issue is actually one of not wanting to be judged for one's behavior despite their physical gender then make that the issue. Don't make some BS coverup story changing the nature of gender itself.

I think it's largely agreed that labels hinder more than help the situation so why is everyone so fixated on what they're labeled? On the one hand if someone says you can't do something because you're a girl or because you're a guy, okay, it may suck but you can't change your DNA to be whichever gender you're not and modern technology may change your hormone production but it won't change what your body's physical capabilities are (for the most part). I don't rightly know what the root of the issue is but when it comes down to it, the whole idea of being more than one gender, etc is just... unnecessary. The central misunderstanding seems to be that some people choose to see gender as an identity, while others see it as a social agreement.

This addresses the problem people have with non-binary or part-binary people. I really dislike how people are trying to push the idea that there isn't and kids should decide and all that non sense. All that is gonna achieve is some confused kids. I know this one person who has gone through a really rough time in life, and I think just wanted somewhere to belong. She made friends who were into all that gay, bi, trans stuff and you could see her changing. She posted about shipping gay guys, furries, etc and then she changed her name into a guys and started saying she was a dude mentally, cut her hair, started dressing like one etc. And you can probably guess what happened when she no longer started to hang out with her friends. I don't know the extent to it but long story straight: people influenced her, she stumbled and now she's back to her normal girly self.

I also don’t believe that gender is a social construct. To imply that it is is to say that it is more of a preference as you would have a preference to ice cream or pizza topping and there is nothing stopping you from changing it except for because it is what you want. But this isn’t reality.

This also implies that transgender individuals who face harassment because of it can avoid it by simply not being transgender (people who are actually diagnosed with gender dysphoria, not those who do it for the oppression points)

A lot of people who supports this idea seem to abhor Trump so let’s use him as an example. If gender is a social construct, he can be the first woman president by simply identifying as a woman (he also identifies as your president by the way). I’m sure didn’t want him to get that pleasure but you gave him that power anyway (I did not vote for him btw).

I also disagree with the idea of letting your children and even animals choose their gender. It’s just as horrible as forcing them to be vegan. Studies have proven that babies show their gendered behavior before they even know what gender is and the same goes for non-human primates. Doing this absolutely fucks them up in the head and a study done by Dr. money to a Canadian family in the 60s did more than enough to prove that.

Regardless of what you identify as, what absolutely matters is what’s between your legs because chances are, you want to use it to reproduce. They almost always go with something vague like "not male or female" "partially both". I am fine with saying people have both masculine and feminine traits, infact I believe I am very feminine, however that doesn't make you a different gender. You have to have a description of the gender that makes it different, males and females are split up by genitals, hormones, and even the bone structure is different. If you fit the definition of a male/female but want to be called something other than male/female (and you aren't transitioning between genders), then it just seems like nonsense.

There are two main sexes, which are biological in nature: Male and Female, defined by sexual organs. There can be mutations such as those born with both types of or indistinguishable genetalia.

There is a spectrum of gender, which is sociological in nature, and is defined by varying degrees of masculinity and femininity, which are traits society typically assigns to one sex or the other.

3. Male, female and intersex. I also think you can change your gender, but otjer than that... I'm supportive of people no matter what gender they choose, but I don't really understand. People who say that they are both genders, I can understand, but not so much when people say that they have no gender (you were born with one, you can't just erase it) or the people who are gender fluid. I mean, one day they're a he and one day they're a she. How does that work? And what really changes when you change your pronoun. Nothing really, you're still the same person. I think the issue comes down to peoples understanding of the terms gender and sex - something that I know I'll get wrong if I try to define either.

Biologically you are either born with male or female reproductive bits. In some cases, however, you get people with both and they then have the trouble of deciding where they fit - probably not an enviable thing.

We've all got different levels of chemical and hormonal stuff going on so, coupled with how we were raised, we can get pretty confused about who and what we are. I think for the majority of what this comes down to is confusion and a search for identity.

Honestly people who classify themselves as 'trans' are just crossdressers, which I have no problem with at all. I believe that there are more than two genders. Sure, physically you might only be able to have one (unless you're hermaphodite) but gender and sexuality goes way beyond our genitals. First, there's a difference between one's sex and one's gender. your gender is whether you align with how your native culture thinks someone of your sex should act. In cultures like ours where different sexes are expected to behave in different ways, there are three genders: male, female, and androgynous. The way I see it, there are two genders, but people who don't feel much like their own gender and feel more (or less) like the other. I try to compromise, but one thing is for sure, kids still have no clear idea about their situation. And pushing that into children is not a good thing, let them grow their own way and think about those things later

I feel there are four different genders. People who are full male full female. People who are male but more female and people who are female but more male. This is due to people having more of one hormone then another I'm a guy but I have high oestrogen so im more feminine I get emotional I have boobs bigger then average etc so i'd say im like male but on the feminine side which I love I wouldn't want to be those guys who scream around kick stuff etc.
