To be honest in the last few years since I've really started to actually have some significant awareness of Kanye West, who he is, what he stands for, what he says and does.. I have often reflected on him being married to Kim Kardashian and been like.. "What the fuuuuu? Why? How?"
She's shallow, culturally and more to the point intellectually deprived, absolutely a silver spooner much unlike himself. She doesn't appreciate true struggle, true work ethic, she has poor character. She's not even physically attractive.. unless you like huge booty I guess.
In terms of talking about social and political issues, Kanye did not get off to a good start "George Bush does not care about black people". Still funny.. it's the context, and the visual nuances.
However, he has grown a lot since then. What I admire the most about the man is that he says what he believes. He has the courage to stand up and say something unpopular. He has the courage to stand up for what he believes in in the face of adversity, majority objection in some cases. He could be described as an urban liberal, and yet he's outspoken as a Trump supporter. It is absolutely acceptable to be a Trump supporter. It is also true that lies have been said about Trump in the mainstream media, that much of what he says and does is manipulated out of context, to the extent that often what's reported is plainly untrue, seemingly to suit an agenda. I think a lot of people develop their opinions on the man based on what the mainstream media says he has said, without bothering to watch the speech for themselves, UNCUT, and to see what he actually said.
Aside from everything, Kanye has the courage to publicly support.. the US president. That should not be controversial, to support the US president, unless he is a tyrant. Trump is not a tyrant. This is a fact.
I think if Kanye runs for president, he could cause a massive change in the way the political system works. This guy is an urban liberal, he's hugely popular in the highly popularise, influential media and entertainment industry, he's also a Trump supporter, he's black, he's courageous, he's intelligent enough to be able to back up a lot of what he says and to discuss serious issues.. he ticks a lot of boxes. He says stupid shit sometimes but I don't think he does as much as Trump.. or any other politician really? Biden sounds senile, Bernie has contradicted himself, seeming to flip-flop on principles based on what's popular, Lizzie Warren claimed to be Native-American, even used it to advance her career! Politicians DO say stupid shit. Doesn't mean it's okay, but should it be held against one individual when they all do it?
I think Kanye could pose a huge threat to the political system, because of how much outside the system he is/how anti-establishment he is, and how popular is. I could see him getting a shit load of support, a shit load of votes. I could actually see him being president. I actually think the reason Trump suddenly became this stereo-typical evil villain in the portrayal of the mainstream media may have had something to do with him also being a huge threat to the political because of how anti-establishment he was as a candidate.
In truth I think Kanye is better off without Kim. I honestly can't comprehend why he would even be with someone like that. I only hope he signed nuptials.. or whatever it's called, is that it? I dunno', I'll never need to know.
You're probably right though. It probably is stupid.. because I could actually see Kanye being assassinated if he ran for President, particularly if, as I expect, he would be hugely successful. He's a threat because of how popular AND anti-establishment he is. .. to be honest I'm kinda' surprised Trump hasn't been assassinated for the same reason. Anyway, it is also funny I admit, but also I think it's interesting.. kind of exciting in truth. And yeah, it probably is also why Kim is divorcing him.

Frankly, it probably should not be taken too seriously.
Mr. West has not filed papers with the Federal Election Commission. He has no fundraising apparatus. He has no campaign staff. As per the paper filings above, he is already too late to get his name on the ballot as a third party candidate in a number of states - these filings having to be made state-by-state and in some cases the submission requiring petition signatures.
Add it all up, and it is likely that it is little more than a vanity trip or a lark. To be sure, some of these obstacles, even at this late hour, are surmountable. However, overall, it is not likely that a full bore presidential campaign will result from such unpromising beginnings.
Throw in, as per the poll question, I voted NO. Not because I object to Mr. West per se, but rather I have only the foggiest idea of who he is, let alone what he believes. While name recognition is an asset - and presumably Kanye West has it, though why I do not know myself - in a presidential campaign's early stages, it is exceedingly rare that the public will vote for an individual whose basic ideological orientation and policy views are almost unknown.
That all said, there is probably a modest applause from the Trump campaign. It is most likely that Mr. West would draw African-American votes and this the Democrats cannot afford. Indeed, the fact that African-American voter turnout dropped in 2016 is one of the factors that allowed Mr. Trump to defeat Mrs. Clinton.
Suffice to say that it is not likely that the Biden campaign - which although doing well in the polls right now is facing a significant "enthusiasm gap" - would be happy to see Mr. West siphoning off African-American and youth voters. In that sense, then, it must be said that a Kanye West candidacy would be a significant wild card.
I think it's both hilarious and terrifying.
Hilarious because it's fucking Kanye, and it's par for course for 2020. It's on brand for the year.
Terrifying because it's happening in the US and we all know how the last "yeah, like that would ever happen" candidate got in.
As a Canadian, US politics recently have me focusing a lot more on my politicians' foreign and military policies. I don't want escalation, but clearly there needs to be someone with a strong spine and clear head in Ottawa for the coming decades. I'm just not sure we have any candidates that tick all the boxes.
As much as I love and appreciate Americans, the state of the US government and politics there as a whole doesn't inspire confidence.
Never before has the whole "Canada is the nice aparment above a meth lab" feel hit so hard before. I'm hoping the US has hit peak meth lab, and this isn't just the start of a new low. I'm worried for my friends who live in the US, and a fall would impact my livelihood here in Canada, too. The US, as much as I wish it weren't the case, has a huge impact on Canada's economy and prosperity.
Yeah right! He's an egomaniac and borderline retarded. He lives in a bubble where he views himself as almost 'god-like' -- That however won't translate well if he should get out n about in the rest of the country, any serious manner -- gimme a break. He's in for a rude awaking and a reality check.
(I personally think he's a sociopath, ... Plus, he looks like he smells!)

I don't vote for gay fish.

Furthermore, if anything, considering that Kanye is a MAGA hat wearer, I would expect this to be a GOP ploy to siphon off the Black vote from voting for Biden.
www.albawaba.com/.../EcIIiDwWAAAC-0O.jpegThis man is a moron on most things and used to be good at making hit music during my Jr. High years. I have no idea what makes him think he's qualified to run for mayor, let alone president of the free world with no law degree or experience of any kind. But everyone was saying the same thing about Trump when Obama was ripping him a bit in a funny way at the dinner in 2012 and here we are. Love Trump or hate Trump (I really hate him) I do respect the work ethic and obstacles he overcame. That is very impressive no matter how you look at it.
He is only trying to help out his buddy. He figures that if he can get enough of the "Black" vote in key states, that could push Trump over the finish line.
The problem is that "Black" people are not the difference maker this election.I think it's awesome! I think plenty of Democrats would vote for him just because he's not Joe Biden. I don't think any Republicans would vote for him because he's an idiot and can't decide who he wants to be. First he's a trash talking rapper, then a Christian artist, then a presidential candidate? The guys having a serious identity crisis, which seems to go along with many of the extreme left's mentality. Are they for peace, are they for violence, are they for no guns or no police, do they want to save the Earth or burn towns, do we love all blacks or just those that don't wear a uniform...
Kanye West would be a great representative for the countries of California and Washington when they secede from the United States.Well he must be crazy because despite making an educational music video illustrating the dangers of marrying a gold digger he married a divorcee reality tv star with an annoying voice no talent, no soul who's mother had her make a set rape for fame and money. Just hit it and quit it.
Tbh, he’s just running so he can steal away votes from Biden so that Trump wins the presidency. He knows he’s losing in polls so he wants to help Trump out. That’s all that is. I hope and think he won’t get that far though because he joined so late. Maybe he wants to promote his new music too.

This is one of most nonsensical things I've heard this year! 🤦🏾♀️ He is not apt to be a president, especially the president of a country like the United States.
He's mentally unstable and he has no political experience. He would ruin the country.
If I were American, I wouldn't vote for him for sure! He’s already said he wants to run in 2024. So this is just getting him eyeballs now to prepare for 4 years from now.
But from a macro level if the US keeps electing presidents like a high school king and queen election that’s not the best trend for the nation. He’s either kidding, or is planning on running later on. Has he pissed people off, oh yes. It’s funny, people are so freaked out about it they’ll make it their headline topic of the next couple of days, completely forgetting about everything else. Kanye definitely has enough money to end up not being controlled by handlers, special interests, etc... sounds like someone else who ran for president four years ago.
I don’t believe he will go through with it, but it could help to remove votes away from Joe Biden’s replacement, has the potential to push the republican black support past 40%. Probably why BLM only shows up every four years for an election. They’re there to keep the black community in line voting democrat. Kanye stands to potentially ruin that mindset. He’s basically black Trump. There’s #Blexit #Walkaway. The black democrat exit and the walk away from the democrat party movement in case there’s people reading this who do not know what the acronyms stand for.Lol i said i wouldn't be the one to ask this question so im glad someone else did. I dont wanna vote for any at this point lol. But i heard he's hoping to get dems to vote for him so that biden has less and the majority votes go to trump
He missed the ballot deadlines in a couple of states so even if he 'really' ran for president he wouldn't show on the ballot in some states.
He isn't really running its just the beginning of another PR campaign to drop another album.
Plus on top of all that he is too wishy washy, he hated Bush but cuddled right up next to trump, he is far too unstable to run the country.
So in short I think its a Publicity stunt and nothing else.I've always got the sense from him that he's overestimating how much people care about him.
I've no opinion of the man himself.. but I also doubt he'll get far. Of course.. a smart candidate knows when to cut their losses. I have a feeling he won't know when to stop.Everybody who doesn’t know about politics. He is OBVIOUSLY not wanting to win. He is running as an independent so when he drops out all of his votes will go to trump and he will endorse him.
Interesting. What will he do to all the gold diggers? 🤔🤔🤔
The last thing the US needs is yet another mentally unstable, bigoted narcisstist as a leader. We're already dealing with one now.
I'm concerned that some African-Americans will vote for him because he's African-American (and may take votes away from Biden).
Even though Kanye would probably be better than trump - even my pet poodle would be better than trump! but haven't we had enough of "non-traditional" politicians? It's time to vote someone who's been Vice-President for eight years! #biden2020I'm not American and I don't know much about Kanye. I don't listen to his music etc but that news made me chuckle because I feel like he's kind of a bit bonkers and yk he's just doing it as a joke.
My brother thinks the man's a genius tho... and apparently many people think so as well
So who's to say? Maybe he really is serious about that. I wouldn't vote for him tho.The United States has a problem when someone unqualified to be a mayor of any city wants to be US president.
If he wanted to start off as a city councillor or a run for Congress to learn how a public budget is put together, and how to debate issues, how to form coalitions to get things done, fine.
But if Trump can just start at the top, I suppose anyone can.Give me a break. We already have one Clown in the White House. And look at how he is handling things. NO THANK YOU!
I love Kanye, most people just dont understand him, and thats their loss.
Kanye wants to promote freedom, he has his whole career. He is a free-thinker and artist.
I dont think he can win an election... YET! maybe when he can articulate himself better and develops his positions on certain issues he could run.
Many people doubted Trump, but he got elected. It took him about 20+ years of flirting with the idea of a presidential run.
