+1 yI’ve worked as a sheriffs deputy and I did security prior to that in college. With security, I did a couple of high end venues. Worked at the playboy mansion for Maxim Magazine party in 2015 which was fun. I mostly worked as a bouncer at a couple of different night clubs and bars though.
My first night working lead at a club, I had a Ontario crip under my supervision. Recognized the ink. He ended up snorting a couple of lines, cried, and then walked off for the night after starting an altercation with me. That’s just one of many examples of the kind of caliber of people who work security jobs.
You don’t really need any education or real training to get your guard card, and for this reason, it attracts a lot of lower caliber people. Don’t get me wrong, I worked with a lot of other military veterans like myself that were sharp, but some of these other guys are just heinous.
If you want respect from law enforcement, then have the violent offender on the ground in a nice wrist lock ready to be cuffed lol. Couldn’t ask for a better setup.02 Reply- +1 y
It seems you are excusing them treating security guards like crap. That is wrong of you

Gardner's earn less than me but I still respect them. I bet you think it is wrong for people to look down on you just cause they have a higher job title than you

+1 yI know what you mean. When a cop tells me how stressful their job is because a routine traffic stop might have someone with a 9mm pistol who might not like cops, as justification for treating me like a criminal, requiring me too walk on eggshells andtake their condescending shit. Might be? At least cops have routine traffic stops!!! Try manning a checkpoint near Bosra, where everyone is armed and hates Americans. Ever have too drag an old ladie out of a viecle too prevent her from detonating the 50 pounds of Syntax strapped too her waist while your buddies cover the two assholes reaching for their weapons in front of the viecle? We didn't have a "Green Zone too hide under, just our bullshit kevlar balistic helmets and an ill fitting Flack Jacket, if we were lucky. I don't have much sympathy for rude, pretentious pricks with badges.

I don't get it. You are just going their stuck up ness or what?
- +1 y
I was agreeing with your perspective by giving an example of truly messed up traffic stops too make a point concerning their hypocrisy. If you take issue with my comment, explain and I'll either apologize to you, or tell you where too stick it, depending on whether or not your issue with me is logical or rational.

It is confusing what you are saying. Do you agree with them treating security guards like a piece of crap they just stepped on is wrong? Numerous times when police responded to scenes where I was working they were all nice to the civilians and asking them questions but acted like I didn't exist. They even made eye contact with civilians, that weren't even talking to them but didn't make eye contact with me at all. Numerous times things like this happened and when I try to strike a convo with them they seem annoyed or have attitude but yet those same officers treat the civilians with friendliness, etc. Also there were even times I said hi to them while in my uniform and they didn't even respond. Most of my coworker security guards agree. I respect everyone and don't look down on anyone UNLESS they are an asshole person.

I was empathysing with your position, as a veteran soldier who was frequently issued shoot too kill orders when guaranteeing security for officers confirming status of military weapons storage facilities hidden in plain sight on unmarked government properties along the inner coastal highway systems in O'ahu and nikesite ICBM launch platforms along the kahuku mountain range around Kolikoli pass valley region. My point, when I wasn't huffing an M16A2M203 blowing bunkers in Panima or calling for air support in Kuwait, I was watching the back of military intelligence officers from an unmarked Ford Utility vehicle I used too chauffeur him from site too site and keep an eye on for anyone sneaking up behind as he shook locks, pulled gates and door handles, shined light in dark corners too confirm clear and secure. I only had too draw my sidearm once, on a rookie cop about my age (19 in 1989) him fresh out of Academy not knowing about unmarked military vehicles on security sweeps in his jurisdiction, ordering me too step out into the light unsnapping holster strap, me sighted in on his forehead asking him not too force my hand after penetrating my perimeter brandishing a weapon. Uniform code of Military Justice wasn't flexible on encroachment onto government storage facilities while securing shoulder fired anti-tank, anti- aircraft weapons that could knock out F14 Tomcats and F-15 Strikeagles as easily as Soviet Migs in service at the time. I was required, under penalty of death, too squeeze that trigger if he drew his weapon, regardless of his decision to take aim or not. Police and military are required too take security seriously, so they either follow your instructions within your secure perimeter, or face the consequences of your enforcement.
+1 yHumans are a bunch of idiots that's why all of this shxt happening. And also they must have bad past experiences wit officers etcc.
I wouldn't give two shits if they don't wanna talk their dead to me anyway00 Reply

Do you agree it is messed up for most officers to be this way? Do you think they are that way with many people or you noticed how they are that way with security?

Also different careers will attract different personality types and the police force tends to disproportionately attract narcissistic assholes who enjoy having power and authority over others.

Just because they higher level position than me doesn't mean they should view me as crap. What you you said is as equivalent to you saying I should believe I'm better than a gardner just because I earn more than him. I don't look down on anyone. No excuse
- +1 y
I only look down on people that are assholes. Not cause I have a higher education than them, etc..

+1 yWell, realistically you ARE beneath them in the professional sense.
They also might look at it the same as they view people pretending to be a cop.01 Reply- +1 y
No excuse to treat someone like crap and ignore them just because they have a lower position. How would you like it if someone told you that it is ok for your boss to ignore you , etc just because they have a higher level position than you? No excuse
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yThey treat you this way because you are beneath them. They are trained professionals who are infinitely more skilled, stronger, taller, better educated, more knowledgeable and better looking than you.
They are right to treat you this way01 Reply- +1 y
No excuse to look down on anybody for dumb reasons like you listed. The only good reason to look down on someone is if you know they are an asshole. You are either are a troll or a POs if you actually agree with their actions.
+1 ySo you're saying your opinion hasn't changed since you said the same things in a post yesterday. Good to know. Consistency is important I guess.

I speak truth how most officers are assholes
- +1 y
And you seem to agree with their stuck up behavior
- +1 y
Don't put words in my mouth. I didn't say I agree with them or disagree with them. They should treat everyone decently including you guys but they also have no obligation to treat you as "brothers in law enforcement". So without actually observing what their behavior was, I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with their behavior or your assessment of it. My point was you posted the same comment two days in a row and quite frankly, once was more than enough.

Well the thing is I got hardly any responses on the first post. I bet if they treated you like crap for no reason , you would be complaining or pissed as well. Let's see how would your tone feel if you had a security uniform on and all of a sudden you noticed most talk to civilians fine but don't even make eye contact with us and act like we are aren't even there. Them making eye contact with people that are not even talking to them but yet don't make eye contact to security guards. Even though I don't agree with them being assholes to anyone, I would like to see how you would feel if you noticed they treat nearly everyone else fine except the security guards. Let's see how you would feel when you try to talk to them they seem annoyed most of the time but yet those same officers are not the same way with non security people. And let's see how you would feel if they ignore you after you say good evening or whatever. If you noticed these behaviors by most officers you would change your view on them and realize most are stuck up assholes that think they are better than people just cause they have a higher level job than them. The only people that I don't respect are assholes. I don't look down on people just cause of job titles, etc.

It is sad. For example I rather invite a humble gardner than an asshole with a high level job that is a prick. Wbu? For me I don't look down on people for messed up reasons. I only look down on people that I know are assholes.
