Why does men's suffering go unnoticed?

I'm not trying to sound like a men's rights activist but I genuinely wonder why people don't care about problems that lots of men face. Like in my country every man over the age of 18 is forced to serve in the army for 2 years without the option to refuse. If a man refuses to serve some of his social rights will be taken away. On a world level men dying never gets reported, the diseases that mostly kill men do not receive much attention. And most men who suffer from these issues never notice how they're treated differently from other groups meaning women and children.

The only very "common thing" that isn't in the top 10 biggest life threats to both women and men is suicide, and that is of course unfortunate, but I don't know what we're supposed to do about it, other than encourage men to seek help. There's nothing to do about the fact that more men die of these particular other diseases, which do get as much attention as possible, or maybe you meant something else, if so, correct me.

As for the army. Yes, it's extremely unfair that men are forced into the army in your country. But objectively women are weaker. And forcing women into the army would be """worse""", because it would be more physically demanding. That is the reason people justify it by at least nowadays... someone has to be in the army. We could force both women and men, then it would be equal I guess... in my country it isn't a problem because a lot of people actually want to be in the army

I'm not a feminist, but if men don't want to be in the army... they should support that movement... if women want equality. They can join the army.

One of the examples that a lot of people make is that testicular cancer and breast cancer do not receive the same attention and funding although they're both deadly diseases.
I never thought of sending women to the serve in the army although that wouldn't be a bad idea. Just like some people were trying to include women in the draft in some states in the US. Their logic is if there's a problem and you want it fixed you have to do something so that women become the victims of that problem, then people will try to solve it but as long as women are safe from it, no one will care. There's some truth to this idea.

Exactly so people would try to get women out of the army but while they're discussing how physically demanding it is on women, they may mention how hard it is for men to be in the army and that may cause a few changes for men too.

Again. This has been disgussed over and over only to come to the same conclusion. Forcing someone into the army is terrible. But someone has to, and being a woman in the army is "worse", so men have to.

Because they don’t speak out. The same happens to women who don’t speak out. If you can learn to communicate effectively this should change in today’s society now. In healthcare were well aware than men typically underreport pain and issues etc so as professionals you’re always aware of this and on the lookout for p her signs that may indicate certain things. Things don’t always go as unnoticed as one might think.

Have you ever noticed that when one woman comes out and claims that she's been assaulted by a famous man other women begin sharing their own experiences with that same man? That's because a lot of people don't know how they've been abused but if you silence the first person who speaks out, the rest of them would remain silent. Men do speak out about these stuff but as soon as they do people magically turn his argument into a crime against women. You blame men for not speaking up but I blame the society for not listening.

Society does have a role to play but women have been suppressed far longer and they’ve battled for their rights despite society not listening (that still exists for them today). I simply advise men who feel repressed to do the same.

Believe it or not but the biggest advocates for mens rights is feminists. This should not be shocking if you understood the feminist movement but the fact that people are surprised by this fact sort of proves the problem.

but what have the feminists done for men. All I hear is that they try and end the programs that help men or change gender neutral laws so that they target men. I didn't want to turn this into a man vs. feminist thing but I have to completely disagree with you.

Fundamentally though feminists are about the only group that consistently side with men on mens rights issues. Sadly they are not as effective as they once was because the right wing has a tendency to undermine anything to do with fairness and god forbid it involves feminists.

I'm sorry but that article is bs. It's more of an opinion piece than a fact based article. All I have to say in response to the claims made in that article is the "Duluth model". This is what feminists have done for men.

I mean there are some pretty big objective things in that list ranging from paternity leave, discrimination laws, changing the FBI definition of rape to also include men, sexual assault in the military etc..

I've heard about the FBI thing before. I don''t know what those feminists had in mind because I can't believe their end goal is to help men. But paternity leave doesn't really benefit the father as much as it does the mother so I don't know why they act like they've done men a favor, and I don't know if men in the army are experiencing less sexual harassment now because of feminists. And don't even start about discrimination in laws. Feminists are the ones who rewrote laws so that the perpetrators are referred to as "He" and the victims as "She".

Paternity leave is only about men, maternity leave is only about women. They are split up and used to be handled separately. The thing about military sexual harassment is a combined effort that does not account for the gender which means it benefits male victims in the military disproportionately since they make up the majority of victims. As for the discrimination laws there are plenty of examples such as all the things surrounding HIV and gay men.

The mandatory army service should be broadened to general civil service, and be for both genders. I'd also make it optional, but required to vote.
