Privacy is privacy.
They say only the guilty should fear. To those who think that, I say fuck off!
I don't need a reason to keep secrets from the government.
Maybe I like watching cartoons. Maybe I'm secretly a brony, or maybe I like old school sears magazines...
It's nobody's business.
We're supposed to be living in an age of freedom where we're free to say, think, and feel what we want, yet everywhere you turn platforms are trying to sensor us. They make up lame excuses and use mental gymnastics to turn your views into some kind of violation.
The government doesn't have to sensor or oppress people. They have social media, and media platforms to do it for them.
They have SJW's to do it for them. That's people. They have people doing their oppressing and sensoring for them.
People are constantly getting cancelled for trivial shit these days. It's absolutely disgusting.
I once got banned from twitter because I reacted to a video of a woman attacking another woman while she was holding her child. I said that woman belongs in jail, but because she happened to be black, is was some how racism. As if she wasn't attacking another woman who was holding her child.
My other account was banned when someone asked me why I said Trump was telling people not to storm the capital. I showed the video of him saying, "don't do that! go home!'
Twitter didn't want it to be known that Trump did in fact oppose what happened at the capital.
Todays corruption is unlike anything that's been seen in human history.
I'm sorry... what was your question again?
Privacy is a principle.
It's like these amazon echo dot what have you, where they apparently can listen to your conversations for the purposes of developing their technology.
The usual response is, if you've got nothing to hide. But I find that a bizarre. Would you let some random bloke off the street come and earwig your conversations? Most people would naturally deem that intrusive.
Clearly, there's other arguments about slippery slopes, encroachments, thin ends of wedges. Where society is headed. We're already seeing a great deal of centralisation, suspension of civil liberties, power and wealth flowing upwards. We're already heading towards authoritarianism as far as I can see, quite rapidly. And that's way before the full implications of this technology, well, it's just relative fledgling. It could already probably enable full and total control, as it does in China.
The fact is, we're leaving vast amounts of information trails that is at risk of enslaving us. The use of the words 'web' and 'net' is elucidating. Sort of like 'track and trace'. These people are nice enough to give us a clue. Even when they state it blatantly, we still don't get it.
I am not afraid of surveillance because I’m not ashamed of my behaviour or my lifestyle but I know many who are and they don’t necessarily do bad things, they just have an unconscious fear complex and victimization presumption.
What if they are watching you even while "in disposed" lets say? "doing your business"?
I did not think of that but I would not be ashamed
No matter what you say or do someone is watching. Whether you're in the wrong or a law abiding citizen, you're being watched & listen to. There's no such thing as privacy.
This one gets it. You want security, you need to renounce privacy.
You want to live with tens of thousands of people, you need to renounce freedoms.
It's not as bleak as it sounds, but it definitely doesn't sound good. Welcome to society.
Thanks I get it ✌️

Shit, only wrongdoers know how to circumvent it. Average citizens are the ones that need to be worried. I can tell you how to spoof facial recognition, a retinal scanner, fingerprint, physical locks, electronic, surveillance systems, crime cameras, so on and so forth. About the only thing I can't spoof is a FLIR optical and deep IR camera, you knock one out, you're glowing on the other, no matter how you do it besides an EMP... and those draw a lot of attention. Like terrorist watch-list no-fly level.
It's the same argument as just let the police into your home, only a criminal needs to be worried. No... a criminal knows to bury a safe in his neighbors yard or public property lined with plastic and cosmoline.
If you ever thought to be free or not constantly under surveillance as a city or big town dweller, you've been living a lie.
Enjoy the relative safety this brings you, for you're only going to be paid a visit if you fucked up somehow. You're still constantly monitored, even though passively.
If you dislike that, the only way to escape it is going to like in the outskirts or become a hermit. Nobody's gonna control you there. But enjoy a wildly superior amount of criminal activity as well.
Your choice.
not sure if you agree or disagree with this...
Not much you can do against that anyway.
still doesn't answer the question
I remember some of these questions from the political compass test. Glad you're posting them!
Not just wrongdoers need to be wary. If there's a lack of privacy, everyone needs to be careful of their actions. Even having sex in kinky place would be more difficult.
Most of the electronic monitoring now is automatic. When the system "hears" certain keys words from anyone, whether on the phone, in an e-mail, or even on the streets, it'll red flag them for a human to review and take action if needed. Nobody's is safe from scrutiny.
so you agree or disagree with the statement?
Strongly disagree. esspacilly when government can have dumb laws so it could effect harmless wrongdoers likes smoking weed then what if they just make up a new law that people disagree with no drinking alcohol now no one can due to survilance. then more new laws come in and ah facism is now in place.
I disagree. Even if you're not doing anything wrong, you still have the right of having privacy.
Also, sometimes you might be accused of doing something you shouldn't, even when you're doing the right thing.
It is so distracting to know I'm on camera ever. It's always in my head then and it's much harder to focus and get things done. And my girlfriend is a huge introvert values time alone and she hates being on camera. And criminals will just find a more sneaky way to be criminals they're not just gonna stop. I don't think official surveillance of the general public would be a good idea at all.
We all should be worried, regardless of whether or not we ever will become (or already are) a "wrongdoer" (whatever that means). Constant surveillance is never healthy for any society that in any way could ever think of itself as being free.
It’s also that surveillance is not just done by governments but also big business and major tech giants.
I voted disagree but it depends on what/where you're talking about surveillance. Are they're certain public places that need surveillance, yes..
But if you mean private surveillance then that's where it becomes an invasion of privacy...
The question is really about how much you trust the person which official is operating the surveillance. In the UK we have a lot of CCTV. (I think one of the highest in the world). I'm pretty relaxed about it.
I'd be a little more concerned about it were I to live under the governance of officials in say Russia or China because the information could be used beyond the rogues on the fringes of society and to silence voices that the ruling gov does not want to hear.
I don't want the government getting into my business. They stick their nose in it too much as it is.
Does the left want Trumps stormtroopers watching their movements?
Does the Right want Biden's political police keeping track of their movements?
No way. The potential for abuse his huge- which ids why we need to enforce constitutional rights
That's as silly as thinking "only criminals need fear cops!"
Strongly disagree.
Safety and privacy matter to everyone.
You know how easy it would be to exploit for kidnapping, stalking, and other nefarious purposes.
For the most part, sure. I mean, what really does it matter if someone sees your Netflix watch history?
I don't strongly agree because too much oversight is an intrusion into our daily lives. I still believe that watching for illegal activity is a must, we never would have known who the Boston Marathon killers were if not for surveillance.
Well Tellah that's a good question. China uses this method to spy on it's people. They see a crime they can pretty much have an idea on who you are. Every one's face in China is in a database.
Camera's in bathrooms aren't good but only a wrong dooer has to worry right.
No. Surveillance cameras are wrong on so many levels. It's a loss of anonymity.
In a world where you can lose your career for having an opinion I'd have to disagree.
Who decides what is right and what is wrong? You can look at China and see how the surveillance state can be oppressive.
The government is not on our side so all they need to star fighting us is for them to gain enough control over us and us standing up to them
Strongly disagree. Privacy is vital.
I’m undecided at the moment
