Dev Patel is set to star as Sir Gawain, one of King Arthur's famous knights of the round table.

The stories surrounding King Arthur are certainly some of the most famous "white culture" tales in existence. Y'all got your same energy now, that you have when you complain about a white person playing any character that's historically been a person of color or did y'all have a big bowl of hypocrite soup for lunch today?

For context, because I KNOW some of you will say it doesn't matter because he's fictional... the entire city of Wakanda is fictional. There probably should have been some white people more significant in the cast for, you know, equity? Also... Alexander Hamilton was REAL, and y'all had NO problem with him being played by a person of color, but shit a brick when a white person was set to portray Michael Jackson.

This is an extremely interesting hypocrisy to me, and my point of view is, I don't care what skin color someone is, I only care that they kick butt in their role. But today, there's a massive group of people who think it's cool to attack anything white, so I felt like pointing this out hoping to open a few eyes.

One of the many definitions of racism, that remain unmodified by a push from SJW is treating a person or group of people differently based on the color of their skin. Treating white people differently than people of color would certainly seem to fit that definition, would it not?
If you think racism was bad when it was happening to some people, why do you think being racist to another group of people is the solution? That mentality is what perpetuates division rather than unity.

Well michael jackson was black, wakanda is a fictional country set in Africa and is all about how they resisted and hid from colonialism and fought back etc
i mean sure people are pretty sensitive about diversifying stuff now but i dunno, things that celebrate a certain race’s culture or a story about their race should be played by the same race
i think it’s quite cool there’s diversity like the black ariel. I have to admit though, sometimes it doesn’t make sense, like how there’s a black anne boleyn now, but it doesn’t bother me too much
I think a diverse cast for the king arthur film is cool. One of my favourite shows, ironically named Merlin and about king arthur, has a black knight and his sister is Gwen (the queen) and I love it
i don’t think people are attacking white people, there’s a reason why certain white people are perhaps being ‘attacked’ and that’s usually down to racism and something ignorant, but that could be any race. White people aren’t treated worse than other races, I think they’re treated better in the west and that’s because the system is ruled by white people here, it would be different in countries in africa or asia where white people are racially minorities

Whose to say he wasn't an Indian? After all England chose a turk to be their patron saint, I've yet to see a picture of st george in his true Turkish skin tone.
His original name was Gwalchmei in the welsh myths that develop at a much later date into the Arthurian stories people are more familiar with. Furthermore the welsh at that time were described as being darker skinned with a greeklike appearance giving rise to the myth they were descendents of escapees from Troy.

I do not approve of the cultural appropriation of my people's greatest legend. It is bad enough for us to be subjugated by the English; but then to have our icons stolen by others?
