I've studied China and this new Cold War for a long time. If a jet does get shot down, it will cause a diplomatic crisis, but it does NOT necessarily mean war because despite how easy it looks in the movies, beach invasions are very difficult to do. If you've seen Saving Private Ryan, the brutality of the D-Day invasion was fierce, and that was with nearly all Western Allied powers doing the invasion. There's a reason why Great Britain has never been conquered!
With Taiwan, it will only be the Chinese PLA that will be invading. Do not forget that Japan has already stated that it will come to Taiwan's aid in the event of invasion because the fall of Taiwan is too dangerous to be allowed: 1) China will control a highly strategic part of the Indo Pacific - it will allow the PLA to invade the Pacific and directly threaten America [[and yes that includes Pearl Harbor and Guam]] and it will allow for total control over 1/3 of the world's shipping trade ($3 - 5 trillion annually), 2) control over the world's most advanced semi conductor (TSM), 3) the Japanese Prime and Defense minister stated publicly that if Taiwan falls, Japan is next, and 4) as advanced as the PLA is becoming, it is no where near strong enough to take Taiwan, at least not for another 5 years.
I can't speak for Biden, but I personally believe that America as a whole will come to Taiwan's aid because of the reasons listed above and do not forget that Japan is a strong and trusted ally of the United States. An attack on Japan will trigger our pact to come to their aid, like with the Philippines and Australia. Going deeper into the Pentagon's intelligence files will tell you that the CCP is well aware of the dangers of attacking a US ally as it has historically ended very badly for ALL powers that did so because it unifies all allies together to take down a greater threat - we have powerful allies in virtually all continents across the globe. Taiwan isn't an ally of the USA, but the extreme risk to the geoeconomic and geopolitical situation is just too great to be ignored.
I agree with you. Taiwan should blast the bastards out of the sky, but at the moment it seems as though they don't want to hurt their feelings!

100% they invade. Biden won’t do shit… the world won’t do shit. Your on your own is what America says to its allies. The red wave that’s coming will not be enough to fix all the damage Biden is doing. But god will I enjoy watching dems lose hard fucking core everywhere.
The chinese will not invade. They will pressure, plant their people and have Taiwan surrender peacefully eventually if they can. Open war is seriously bad for PR. But a bit of military pressure does wonders for the willingness of some politicians to cooperate. China needs to use the opportunity while Taiwan can't rely on help from a weak American president to score political points inside Taiwan.
