I say there's also non-binary if anything else. There have been cases of hermaphrodites in humans.

Just male and female. I honestly see no point to making gender a separate term rather than synonymous.

There really isn't a point but as a trans woman I feel like it's easier to to say I'm a woman in a male body. I'm male, but I'm not a man. I never was because I transitioned as a child.

@ElizaPam That's mainly because your brain resembles more of the average female than the average male. That at least has a biological explanation but nonbinary makes no sense in my opinion.

Gender refers to the characteristics of women, men, girls and boys that are socially constructed. This includes norms, behaviours and roles associated with being a woman, man, girl or boy, as well as relationships with each other. As a social construct, gender varies from society to society and can change over time.

No, you think that you are a female. Wanting to be something and actually being it are two different things. I was in your shoes not too long ago. So, I know what it is like to think and feel like you are not supposed to be the sex you are. But no amount of wishing, hoping, praying, hormones, and/or surgery will change who you are.

You know, I don't get you.

You are transgender and you deal with that struggle daily and I commend you for putting up with the sh*t people give you on here and irl for it, but to straight up deny enbys and gender fluid people at the very least seems harsh to do to others experiencing that same struggle.

@Ez-Bri-Z they're not experiencing the same struggle. They think not being super feminine or hyper masculine makes them a different gender when it doesn't. They call themselves trans despite not making a transition. They say things that make absolutely no sense like "you can be trans without dysphoria" They're very often times feminine regular looking cis women like Demi Lovato. Like your pronouns are what other people think they are. If I get called he that's my fault for not passing, not the other persons fault for not reading my mind. And they just want to come up with fake genders and pronouns and weird "gender neutral" words like Latinx, Folx (wtf?) and apparently "pregnant men chestfeed" like it's not even about dysphoria and respect it's about getting attention and feeling unique

      Reply

Or maybe for them it is about dysphoria. One you personally don't understand in the same way a lot of the cishet people here don't understand you.

I won't pretend to understand it personally but an old friend of mine identified as genderfluid themselves. The way they always explained it to me was this way. That somedays they do feel the same way you do and absolutely are on board with being female because that is how they identify, but some days they are ok in their own skin.

I dont know personally if that means there is a difference in having dysphoria days and not and that's become identified as gender fluid. I dont know if it is the idea of gender roles they are associating to (which ugh.. gender roles suck anyway).

What I do know is dismissing them summarily when you yourself understand fully what the mindset dysphoria does to you seems particularly cruel.

The choice is made though. They exist between both. Everything is not a series of 1's and 0's.

Think of it this way: you aren't going to rage against water just because it fluctuates between. Liquid, solid and gas, right?

That's the beauty of genderfluidity. Honestly I think it's beautiful because it doesn't hold to a single stereotype.

Freedom’s great that’s why everyone likes America… but even America has laws and rules to keep society together. So too do people need a box to be organized in. People don’t handle abstract very well. They need defining terms to understand and evaluate to make choices. After all without a “man” and a “woman” you don’t get a baby. It’s 100% necessary to divide people into at least one of these 2 overall categories for the survival of the species itself. Also as we diversify we complicate life… there is a breaking point that we can hit that life and society just crumbles and dies.

Your not a woman. You can’t give me children. Period. For me the only unique value women have is children. Therefor any woman unable to have children has no value as a woman to me.

Don’t feel bad there real women I don’t see any value in as women because they can’t have kids… so I guess you have the same value to me as some women… and nothing will change that. No attitude. No disagreement. No protest. That’s just how it is you don’t have to like it or me or agree.

@ElizaPam You are a woman. I wasn't able to bear children either and it didn't make me any less a woman. I am more than just my ability to get pregnant and you are more than just how you were born.

@Ez-Bri-Z thank you 💕💕 I don't understand why so many people suddenly start thinking that our biological roles are the single defining aspect of our existence once the subject of gender is brought up. Even more strange when they claim to be Christian. As a Christian I've always believed this body is just a shell made of dirt and I'm supposed to hate the world, which I'm sure I hate it here more than they do.

No idea. To me that's like saying someone isn't a real man/woman because they don't have brown eyes. It was something beyond your control and so biological you are male, you are however as far as society is concerned, female. You don't present male. You don't address yourself as male. Its possible even legally you are identified as female.

Gender is a social construct as are gender roles. This goes into a long, serious debate which I don't really want to have about what defines male and female roles, but I'll quickly give two examples of it.

A man who cries or wants to stay at home and raise the kids is mocked and called beta or "sissy" or "acting like a woman".

A lesbian couple where one may be more dominant or even straight up butch is considered "the man of the relationship" by those on the outside who don't know any better.

(This one personally affects me because my wife is not a man just because she is more dominant than I am or because she can build a car from the frame up. She is a woman who just has a different skill set than I do).

In these two examples both were compared to the opposite sex. Why? Because gender roles and the idea of gender is a social one. A boy doesn't come out of the womb knowing how to use power tools. He just has expectations thrust upon him by society (possibly including his parents) to learn because that is a "boy thing".

The only value in women for me is children. It’s the only thing women bring I cannot get somewhere else. I have absolutely no use for a woman that can’t have kids. I didn’t wanna bring up your condition myself so I left it out but since you mentioned it. She’s still a person to me and me and you get along well enough as people bri but your well aware how I feel about such situations. I have no specific value in either of you other then friends in which you being men or women bring absolutely nothing to the relationship therefore idc.

Now let’s go into where I care. If I’m dating and looking for a real woman that can give me kids… am I supposed to assume everything with tits is a woman that can give birth? Am I expected to ask any women I have interest in if she can have kids ignoring how horrible I’m sure you’d feel if someone asked you that outta nowhere bri? No we are meant to be labeled and keep in boxes that best cover who and what we are… women have kids and if you can’t have kids you have no value AS A WOMAN to me period. My greatest friend has no value as a woman if I have no interest in kids with her or she can’t and I did have interest.

Nobody’s dumb enough to think guys date for the shits and giggles lmao. Marriage isn’t for looks it serves a purpose though it’s been bastardized but every dumb woke sob out there.

So for guys like me that don’t care if your a woman or a man if you can’t or we don’t wanna have kids with you… I prefer to know the people I see as women are women. Sayings god damn difficult enough without making it so I have to ask some bitch if she can have kids or had a penis at some point.

@Ez-Bri-Z well modern gender roles are what they are due to the inherent nature of men and women. So it's not like there was a 50% chance everything could've happened the other way around. At least that's my opinion. Being submissive and letting men do all the work that requires tools feels natural to me and if we lived 10,000 years ago I believe I'd still feel the same.

You and I have debated this in private and while I was keeping my answers general, it looks like I will have to specifically cater an answer to you out here.

The problem isn't that you value a woman for her ability to bear children. That's absolutely fine. The problem is that you flat out dismiss my womanhood strictly on the fact I wasn't able to. I still see you as a man although you offer nothing to me on a sexual or biological front. I'm not reducing you down to the sum of your reproductive organs.

Let's put it this way. Let's say you and I (since we already know what the outcome is going to be) had no prior knowledge of each other. We start dating, fall madly in love and even get married. 2 years in, we are ready to start a family and that's where I find out that I'll never be able to get pregnant. I didn't know beforehand so you weren't tricked. I'd be devastated of course, but you are telling me I'd cease to stop being a woman to you at that point and you'd just leave me?

@ElizaPam Being submissive isn't a female trait exclusively. Again, ill use my wife as an example. She is 4'11, raised with 7 brothers out in the country and will throw down with anyone if they come at me. She used to fight her 6'8, state wrestling champion brother if the mood fit. She is as domineering as they come and yet she still has her feminine charms about her. She is just as cute baking a cheesecake as she is fixing our car.

@Ez-Bri-Z Not every woman is submissive and not every submissive person is female but female submission and male dominance is more than simply about society. Our biologies reinforce the convention.

*deep breath* no debates today Bri... gotta focus on work... no debates.

You should know this better than most considering you have most likely dealt with it from both sides of it... estrogen and testosterone are a hell of a thing in how it makes you feel and act, sometimes, even against your own nature.

I don’t dismiss it I just don’t fucking care. Our relationship wouldn’t benefit or suffer for you being man or woman… although your attitude might be different and that could effect it but honestly you with your personality as a man would be treated the exact same as if you were a woman. Ide give you no special treatment either way or talk down to you either way… I genuinely don’t give the slightest fuck.

No. I’ve known you years. You’ve been my girl years. Inability don’t change that. The relationships there and I already see you as a woman and as someone important… however if I’m meeting you for the first time my first set of questions will be can you have kids because that’s the reason I would be dating. I’ve been in that exact situation by the way so I do know how Ide handle it.

Ima say it again. Men do not date the same as women. For you women dating a woman is mostly accepted because you want that relationship. Men tend to expect the kids and they want the vagina. Not all but most. You cannot understand this because you date for completely different reasons then I do. The reasons I would date ar the things I would look for in a partner. If my value is kids I’ll only be interest in a female partner. For that purpose you wouldn’t be considered a female partner since you can’t give birth and neither would asker because the same reason. Just as if you wanted more kids you’d find a man not a woman… course as a woman your special… well you know what I mean… you can have your own kids with any tube of baby batter as my ex likes to put it… me as a man I have to find a willing partner that can have and wants kids and I don’t get the benefit of just saying fuck it yea I don’t like you but I’ll have your kid… you can literally have a kid free from a bum or drunk dude I have to convince a woman to spend at least a year suffering for me usually costing something like $20grand just as a carrier.

What we look for, our emphasis, our access and the level of commitment is dif.

You know, its a long complicated history in my family where both my mom and I have this overwhelming need to be liked and honestly it isn't even your problem really. It just makes me feel... less than... when it was already something I was feeling about myself when it came to my own fertility. Just hearing it confirmed by someone I consider a friend, makes it sting that much more.

The only reason I can think of for someone to care what gender someone sees them as is the privilege that come with that gender… both have gender privileges but if I could have a do over preserving my memories Ide happily be a woman. I’m tired of baring all the expectations of being a man… sacrifice, strength, money, power, chivalry… I am so fucking tired of being expendable compared to women… so yeah… be happy with equal because the time of privilege has come and gone.

Reverse everything I said earlier… trading out my dick wouldn’t make me a woman in my eyes. My values wouldn’t have changed just how easy it is to get them… though I’ve considered how the ease of acquiring what we want could shift what a person wants… I think we’ve had that conversation before… men want sex because it’s the easiest of the hard to get affection meanwhile women can easily get this so they want commitment the harder thing to acquire… the grass is always greener fits.

The sad truth is nobody here REALLY cares. Even bri as kind as she is wouldn’t remember you if you died right now a month from now probably.

Go out make some friend get close to them spend 10 years knowing them and then you matter. Only to them though. That’s the truth of this world. As easily as I stepped over that guy murdered by my house 5 years ago Ide step over you and anyone else that I don’t know… well except if it was a child Ide be the body before Ide allow the kid to be the body but that’s not the same lol

Honestly, he is correct. Now mostly in my case, it is because my Aphantasia. I forget people that I talk to every so often that are still alive until I get a reminder they exist. Im not rude, it is just an involuntary thing. Even family members that have died sort of disappear unless I'm actively reminded of them.

Regardless of all that though, people tend to be self centered, even ones with good intentions. There are very few who are so completely selfless. Even the good intentioned ones do it for how it makes them feel to help others so there is still personal benefit (myself included here).

Your suffering does matter to me though. I dont want anyone to have to suffer needlessly.
