I am not indoctrinated but rather happy. I can do what I want, as little or as much as I care to. I can live my life the way I want and do what I want. If I were in many other countries that wouldn’t be so.

Communism is a not an economic system, it's a political one. Capitalism is an economic system that seeks to consume everything, including political systems. That being said, communism sucks too. I'd rather become a democratic socialist political system. Seems to work well enough in Denmark.

I have been to Denmark many times, have you? I noticed that people used a bike a lot. In the summer it was natural, then I saw women with short skirts on bikes in the snow, wind and ice. That’s when I found out that they didn’t do it because they wanted to which is what I thought. They did it because of the enormous taxes. A $50,000 car in the US costs them $150,000. And then the cost of gas is very high… along with most things.

@Jersey2 Cost is relative to regions. Does it cost the same to live in California as Maine? Does it matter? The jobs pay for the area, or they don't. Clearly Denmark's jobs pay enough for their lifestyle. I was more commenting on how a much larger portion of taxes go towards society, literally everyone, instead of to the capitalists. They also tax their rich appropriately like the USA used to do before the 1970's.

The jobs pay for the area except if you want a car or a big house. There are clear trade offs. I have the money, cars and houses. You speak as someone who has no faith in their own abilities… perhaps for good reason though.

@Jersey2 Quite the opposite, I've done well for myself, and no need to be snarky about my abilities. I don't think you are looking at this objectively, let's see...

Can you rationally and reasonably defend capitalism after this statement:

'Capitalism is doomed to fail. At it's core, it requires growth to succeed. It requires people to grow. Capitalism requires labor to create consumables for "labor" to create and "consumers" to consume.

On a planet with finite resources, overpopulation will lead to resource depletion until nothing is left. Capitalism is a zero-sum game. It will consume everything, wither, and then die, taking most planetary life with it.'

First, half of the population of this planet is dirt poor so that invalidates your first point. Second, people will consume no matter the economic system. It is government that will control how the planet is treated by making laws and taxes.

@Jersey2 So rather than evolve and try to change our behavior, you just accept that humanity will basically kill the host. I would be surprised if today's kids survive to retirement age. That's the path we're on.
