You have bad guys shooting bullets at you.

If you're in a plane, your plane could crash or your plane could get hit and go BOOM!

And out at sea... there are sharks and whales and giant octopuses in the water! If you go overboard you are fish chow within seconds! I wonder how many men in WWII got devoured by sharks and killer whales in the Pacific.

Anybody serving in the military is out of their minds.

I'm Canadian, and loyal to Trudeau. In Canada we do not promote violence or murder. We are nice and polite and peaceful. We don't have a military thankfully.

Also the ocean scares the life out if me, as does flying.

Ummm... I was in the US military and flew a lot. Never crashed (thankfully). It happens from time to time (people and equipment aren't perfect).

Was shot at while flying (doing aircraft radar testing with inert missiles) and never hit. That was by design. Missiles were shot toward our aircraft, but purposely aimed away from it so we could check how fast and from what direction they came from. Aircraft R&D CAN be dangerous, but that's part of the learning process.

People are NOT shooting at you all the time. Can it happen? Sure. But you can get into a major accident just driving to and from work too.

by the way... Canada DOES have a military. I know. I met several of them when I went to Canada when I was in the military.

As far as I'm aware, Canada (nor the US) does not require military service. So you don't hafta go near the "big" ponds or leave the safety of the ground.

My only concern when it comes to being or not being in the military in times of need is whether or not it aligns with my own idea of right and wrong as well as if there is a better option that accomplishes more.

Would I join the military if what I would do there does not speak to me? Absolutely not. However in the right, or wrong I suppose, situation I would be there.

The thought of it would not do that to me. Being told that I had to serve probably would.
I have the greatest respect for the men and women who choose to serve in the military, but having to do it myself would terrify me.
Thankfully I live in a country where military service is a choice, rather than a requirement.

Nope. I'd just honestly desert. I'm not taking some marching orders from people I don't respect, just to work in an environment where rape is freakishly common and hardly punished at all, just to get myself shot in a conflict I don't believe in.
