Could be a lot of different reasons, but I lean towards the "mass formation" theory, combined with dividing rethoric of government and media.
Also, in general the vaccine narrative is deeply rooted in most of the population as something that's not optional, like it's expected that everyone "takes one for the team" so to speak.

If you remember, Lord Fauci said the goal is 70% of the population getting one vaccination. Of course, like everything else, that suddenly changed once that number was achieved. Currently, 76% of the population has been vaccinated. 65% is fully vaccinated. You also have to take into account the number of people that have natural resistance, which Lord Fauci and the cdc refuse to acknowledge. The science is clear on natural resistance but Mr. Science won't acknowledge it. It is to create division and nothing more.

In UK, we will shortly be getting rid of the last ones. We have a very high vax take up. The fewer people vaxed, the longer your restrictions will last, and the longer it lasts, the greater the chance of a serious mutation.

It's proven the vaccine doesn't stop infection, so it isn't going to stop mutations. Also, mutations don't become more serious or deadly, just the opposite. They want their host to survive.

@Slingblade1126 Firstly, I know it doesn't stop infections. I am fully vaxed, but recently had my second bout. The difference was that the first, when unvaxed at all, lasted 6 months. This time, just 10 days isolating with my family, and with no real symptoms.

Secondly, the fewer cases, the less chance of mutations. Yes they usually get less serious, but sometimes they can be a lot worse. It is simply down to an error in the genome. A virus mutating has no intelligence, and cannot control the error that occurs. As I say, they have no intelligence, so cannot want their host to survive. Again, mutations usually become less virile, but it is not always like that.

I saw on TV just yesterday that an unvaccinated person is 15 times more likely to die from COVID than a vaccinated person. That's a scare tactic using small numbers to make their point. In the US, there have been about 80 million COVID cases and about 900 thousand deaths. That means there's a 1% chance of dying if someone catches COVID. For the unvaccinated to be 15 times more likely, that means that a vaccinated person has less than 0.1% chance of dying while an unvaccinated person has about a 1%. Yes, an unvaccinated person is 15 times more likely to die but still only a 1% probability.

I've known several people who have had COVID, some multiple times, mostly mild cases, a few bad cases without being hospitalized. Some vaccinated, some not. No one I know has died from COVID. My brother-in-law recently died from cancer.
