+1 yYou’re pro second amendment but feel uneasy when someone outside of military or police carries a firearm? That doesn’t really make any sense to me.. Sounds like you’re selective on your pro second amendment. What about folks who are trained civilians, who use it for self defense? Or are you just uneasy when it comes to criminals who aren’t trained and use it for no good? I’d like to pick at your brain, to understand what you mean.
People do understand, republicans do as well, but I think it’s more of the logic that they aren’t understanding. I personally don’t find firearms scary tools, because I’m trained and knowledgeable in firearms… However, the person behind the firearm, the person using it, is what scares me more. If a person is not trained and does not know the power of what a firearm is used for, then that can create a scary situation.
A firearm is a weapon that not many people understand. They just know that it’s a weapon that can kill someone or something. That is true. However, firearms are simultaneously simple and difficult. It takes pressure on the trigger for it to shoot. It’s as simple as that, misfires due to manufacturing is unlikely. Who pulls the trigger? A human. In that situation, that human scary? Or is the firearm scary? I would say the human is scary in that situation. I’m not afraid of the gun, I’m afraid of the people.08 Reply- +1 y
Civilians do and can possess the training and practice safety. Most states in america require civilians to do firearm training before purchasing. As well as understanding handbooks/instructions on how to responsibly store, handle, use, and transport a firearm. If they’re at a range, they are most likely training… You can’t make a generalized statement about all civilians not practicing gun safety.. Every legal gun owner is responsible for going gun safety and practice training for shooting.
Humans are terrifying, period. No matter what self defense weapon they have in hand, that makes them even more terrifying. Blame the person, not the weapon. The person is in control of the weapon, the weapon doesn’t have a mind of its own, and it requires a human to make it work. Blame the human…

I’ve seen a couple of accidental discharges by civilians. When we would swipe our rifles by mistake, not even loaded, we’d get lit up and humiliated by every instructor present. I saw a 6’6” senior DI choke out a recruit in Pendleton when we were at the range. Those consequences instill muscle memory and they don’t compare to a handbook. Also, I rather deal with a crazy guy yielding a butter knife rather than a Glock. My chances of survival are much stronger if he doesn’t have a firearm. Civilians have every right to own a firearm, I’m simply stating that a lot of them make me uneasy. If I wasn’t former military, I’d be even more uneasy around them. So I’m saying I understand why people fear them.
- +1 y
Ok. Well, sorry that they make you feel uneasy.

I’m not too torn up but thank you lol. The consequences of not equipping the country with a right to self defense against a tyrannical is much greater than a couple of select dummies not practicing proper firearm safety. I know civis that can shoot better than me. So again, no hate. I’ve just seen some heinous shit.

+1 yThe fact is if you have a gun you have the power to kill anyone within a fairly large range with ease and there's little they can do. Your life can be snuffed out at any second for no reason by a guy a hundred yards away because he feels like it. The most uneducated fool can kill the highest ranking with a single shot and there's little defence.

+1 yPro second amendment? Yeah right.
So you have a problem with common folk owing guns, yet consider yourself pro second amendment? Don’t give me that “I’m ex military” bull crap, it doesn’t give your opinion any more credibility.
There’s plenty of schools to train common folk on how to use guns properly and be responsible gun owners. Some states even require citizens to complete some type of course before being able to purchase any firearm.
What is actually scary is how we allow pinkos to enlist in the military.010 Reply- +1 y
With your views and no context I’d assume you are a communist Chinese veteran instead of a US army veteran.

“Civilians from what I’ve seen don’t possess the training to be able to practice safety. I’ve seen civis here at the range hold their finger in the trigger guard as they move it around.”
What the fck is that? - +1 y
You pretty much assumed every civilian is incapable of practicing gun safety.

This isn’t about emotions. Ironically it’s you who seems to be too emotional considering that you generalize everyone that isn’t law enforcement or military.
Not to mention that you keep ignoring the fact there are schools to teach people on firearm safety and proper usage. The military and police aren’t the only two places people can learn how to properly use guns.

+1 ynot sure. I understand it. As well... a generation of kids grew up watching columbine and other school shootings. Near where I live was one of the worst shootings in the USA, many kids lives cut short. I didn't have that reality growing up.
They are afraid of the misuse, they are disarmed but without protection. We lost discipline in our society as pareting failed and we didn't house mentally ill in institutions. It's a mess now, guns are the blame point. Problem is humans. What to do about it is the never ending debate.00 Reply

+1 yI agree with you 100 percent firearms are even more scary when they are in untrained careless hands. I'm a Veteran as well and was a Medic while I was in and when you see the kind of damage bullets do you have no choice but to have respect and some fear mixed in.
10 ReplyI don't think anyone thinks firearms aren't scary. I've never even heard of this before. I think people really just don't want their second amendment rights taken away from them by an already tyrannical far-left American government.
I also don't think you can claim to be for the amendment while also implying no one but you and people like you should have constitutional rights. Even saying this makes me doubt you're a real veteran or not very liberal.02 Reply- +1 y
I don’t believe they shouldn’t have the constitutional right to possess a firearm. I just said a lot of them make me uneasy due to their lack of training. I served in the Marine Corps. Enlisted in 2011. My grandfather who was a Vietnam Marine has the same thoughts- although he’s a democrat.

+1 yBecause these people don't realize they're holding a weapon designed to kill. They've been sold on an idea that it's a toy, suitable for anyone and everyone, and it's "bad" not to have one.
They don't really think about or appreciate it. They're just LARPing being badass soldiers without any of the skills, training, or experience.10 Reply
+1 yContext,. If I'm in a rural Walmart in Alaska and sone guy in camo cones in with a gun to buy ammo I'm not concerned.
If I'm in an urban area and a guy has a gun at Walmart I pull the fire alarm, dive for cover and yell "he's got a gun!"00 Reply- 891 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yFirearms are designed to fire a bullet in a casing down a rifled barrel at a target of the users choosing. The overwhelming majority my firearms have never killed anything.
I can understand why some people find them scary, but I think it’s a lack of understanding. You should only get nervous around people using firearms inappropriately. There are so many dangerous things people are exposed to every single day but aren’t worried about.00 Reply - 792 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yUnfortunately many people don't care about other people's opinions or feelings. They also can't put themselves in someone else's shoes without mocking them. Many (not all) of the same people you describe voted for the guy that is cool with grabbing women by the p@ssy. What I'm trying to say is not everyone is really empathetic towards others that don't agree with their beliefs. It's sad.
00 Reply 26.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. A firearm is a deadly weapon. You should be afraid of it.
Next month I am going to spend a few days at a friend's gun range to learn how to safely operate a handgun and a shotgun. I am a little afraid of this.02 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI do kind feel like it’s weird that people are so chill with them. I’m super second amendment, but I recognize that they’re these insanely destructive weapons that are scary. That’s part of why I’m pro-gun, because people need to learn to be responsible with these things and understand them better.

+1 yI don’t care if someone’s “scared” of a firearm. Someone else’s emotions are their issue, not mine. We don’t trample on rights because of fear. The last two years should have taught you that.

Anonymous(18-24)+1 yIf you grew up in a dangerous city like LA, the lack of firearms would be scarier. It's definitely saved my mom before we moved to a better city. It'd be nice to get rid of guns but there is always someone else with a weapon so might as well feel safer by having your own
You said uneasy when someone who isn't former military or law enforcement, but part of the second amendment wants to prevent corrupt officials from threatening innocents00 Reply12K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Should lawful gun owners care how others feel? Feelings are not in the Constitution.

Opinion Owner+1 yYour title and description doesn't jive. Your question would have been more believable if you wouldn't have snuck in that jab at Republicans. You know that's a bunch of shit. I suppose you think all of those hood rats in Chicago blasting each other on a daily basis are Republicans?
Opinion Owner+1 yIt's funny you didn't mention a word of that and your question. You just did the old anti-republican routine.
Opinion Owner+1 yYes, they're a bunch of pussies. They need to learn the street fight like a democrats. They need to get ruthless and start making up complete lies and putting it on tv. I hope when they take the House and Senate in November they have the balls to impeach Biden and kamala. They don't need a reason they just need the votes.
Opinion Owner+1 yI listen to conservative talk radio all day long, and all of them are slamming Republicans for being pussies. DeSantis and Abbott are about the only two that are fighting for the cause.
Opinion Owner+1 yDid you hear that Nancy pelosi has been snooping around Florida looking for real estate?
Opinion Owner+1 yI about barfed when AOC said that. The thing with pelosi is, she's retiring because there's no way that she can remain speaker of the house. So why not move to sunny Florida instead of the San Francisco that she destroyed?
