Why do people like to pick apart the flaws of attractive people?

I see it all the time. Especially attractive women, they get picked apart so much online. Everyone wants to claim an attractive woman has had plastic surgery even if she obviously hasn't. They never say these things about average lookers or less conventionally attractive women. Or they will find one thing "imperfect" about her appearance and hone in on it.

Or, if there's a confident person, everyone wants to tear them down suddenly and make them feel insecure. There will be a woman or man on social media who says they honestly like how they look (not in an arrogant way), and suddenly everyone wants them to feel bad about themselves. It's like, we're not allowed to be confident nowadays either?

Because we are a society/generation plagued by insecurity, low self esteem, toxicity and comparison. And we place so much value on looks. So when people see a pretty or self-confident person, it threatens them and brings out their own insecurities. So they lash out and want to bring them down to their perceived level

And I've noticed it as well, people always trying to humble pretty girls on social media. It's pathetic if you ask me
